Cut it longer than you want it and cut in in winter it's less prone to cracking then. Also the thickness is a factor. The thicker ones will crack alot also if you try to speed up the seasoning process it was crack badly
Hi I've seen you around years and subscribed awhile ago and heard you have even talked and purchased from other buyers. I'm just here to ask how you feel about the store old shillelagh stick makers?
I usually cut about 600/700 sticks myself each year and I get a few hundred blanks from 3 other stick makers who need the support. If I see anyone selling cheap blackthorn blanks it’s a no brainer. How do I feel about old shillelagh you ask , just they are a competitor and sell sticks far more expensive than I do. My shipping by courier is $35 , theirs is $50 according to website just had a look at. Liam is the biggest seller of blackthorn stocks and I’m the second biggest company in Ireland. If you want a stick only buy from registered businesses like mine or olde shillelagh
I'm so proud. The third one from the left is now, mine. It is my constant companion. Thank you, Francis.
That’s a really nice pick.
I love the natural bark look. Certainly is my favorite.
Dia dhuit, cén chaoi a bhuil tú? Tá siad go hálainn! All of these are so lovely! Thank you so much for sharing!
Some of these look like the Native American version of a War Club. Be Well.
Just made my first one, it is a learning experience.
Nice work!
@Francis McCaffrey made from American hickory which is rated to 1820 on the Janka scale, very strong and shock absorbent.
is there any thing you can do to stop it cracking when drying or will they always crack a little bit
