I hike with my Cattle Dog Gus all the time. Day hikes, overnights and snowshoe. We have been at it for 9 yrs, he'll be 11 in June. Only missed one hike with him, the Enchantments where dogs are not allowed. Tough not taking him, but 5 days in the Core could not be ignored. Great vid.
Oh that’s just amazing!!! I wish I had taken my girl out more. She’s 13 now so we keep the adventures a little small. Omg the Enchantments are amazing! Yeah the rangers would tackle us pretty fast if we break the rules up there 😅
Agreed, it creates an even stronger bond I feel. It was such a special adventure. Francis had the time of her life. She’s a bit too old to do big stuff anymore, but I still take her out on smaller hikes.
@ nice! Since I’m in Phoenix I can only take my dogs from November - April. I only do shorter hikes with them and trails wide enough where I can avoid rattlesnakes.
Oooh an Arizona channel? Heck yeah, I’m subbing :) oh yeah rattlesnakes are no joke. We have some on the eastern side of Washington, but I’ve only seen one so far
@ thanks for the sub! I saw 4 this hiking season. 2 surprised me and the other 2 I saw ahead of time! It’s too cold for them now but I’ll watch out for them again in April. I have a couple on my videos/shorts. 😆
Thank youuuu! She’s still going strong :) older now, so she can’t go on as many adventures with me anymore, but she had a blast on this trip. Thank you for watching 🥰🥰
Every time I hear great stories like this makes me feel to no fear an encounter (have always respect nature and animals) however when I hear horror stories about “big foot” of people that say they looked like wolf of bear, I wonder if they are mistaken it for werewolves or other entities. I want to believe Big foot doesn’t want to be seen or found and is not aggressive as long as no one mess with him
Omg so I have a story. I’ve seen a lot of bears and elk living in the Pacific Northwest, but one night shortly after the eclipse in 2017, I was camping alone near Mount Saint Helens. Had a campfire lit and was sitting around it. Something BIG ran up to me through the woods. *THUMP. THUMP. THUMP* right up to where I was camped. It wasn’t afraid of the fire. I threw a big rock into the woods (not at it) to try and scare it away. It ran TOWARDS where I had thrown the rock, then was silent. By then I was petrified since it didn’t seem afraid, it was just… curious. Then it slowly walked away. About 10 minutes later, way off in the distance, I heard this insanely long drawn out scream/howl noise that I’ve never heard in all my years in the PNW. Not an elk, not a cougar, not a bear. I’ll never forget that night
Actually my next video will have a bear encounter (didn’t capture it on film, just afterwards) and something else kinda creepy at the end. Keep an eye out for it next week!
Thank you much :) yes you totally should go! It was phenomenal. I meant to go to Image Lake to camp the first night, but ran out of daylight. The huge basin before going up to spider gap is a wonderland. I would love to spend more time there, especially in sunnier weather. Like your channel as well! Subbed so I can see your future Glacier Peak adventure :)
What’s your favorite hike to do with your furry friend?
