I was born in 1970 and grew up listening to Sabbath,Priest,Kiss,Alice Cooper, then the whole 80's scene but let me tell ya,while most of the Heavy Metal Fans and Bands hated the 90's music scene,I in-turn found it to be a breathe of fresh air because most of the Bands were saying what I always wanted to say but never knew how to say it.The 90's music scene is legendary and will stand the test of time for many generations to come.
The song's author and lead singer Billy Corgan was quoted in an interview about "Disarm" as saying, "I never really had the guts to kill my parents, so I wrote a song about it instead." When he wrote this song, he was at a point where he was really angry at his parents for always making him feel lower than he really was.
Not sure I'd be dedicating this song to anyone. There's a lot of anger, pain and hatred in those lyrics along with a great deal of numbness and acceptance. Not exactly a love song lol. Still, it's the thought that counts.
THTHIS SONG REMINDS ME OF HOW MY HUSBAND LEFT ME FOR A LITTLE GIRL. THAT IM THE WIFE FIGHTING BREAST CANCER HE LEFT ME TO GO MARRY THIS GIRL. SEND THIS SMILE TO OVER YOU. THE KILLER IN ME IS THE KILLER IN YOU. SAD BUT TRUE. I DIDN'T THINK THAT IT WAS GOING TO GET WORSE IDVTAUT TGAT I HAVE CANCER HE WOULD LEAVE THE LITTLE GIRL FROM 2008 TO 2020. A YEAR IM FIGHTING AND GOT 4 YRS TO GO. THANKNYOU FOR LEADING AND TAKIN ADVANTAGE OF ME.

It's a shame that such beauty must arise from such pain.

It's a disarming thought thinking of a mother and child smiling at each other with anger and resentment hidden behind those smiles.
Disarmed you with a smile. Powerful lyric man.

Some of the best song lyrics I have heard came from the Smashing Pumpkins. They will withstand the test of time.
