I’d rather they didn’t reboot halo am i the only person invested in the story they’ve been building up since halo wars 2 with atriox? plus the endless in infinite etc i need cheif to get his licks backs!
It makes no sense tbh. Why take 20+ years of games, books, shows, etc. worth of lore and put it down the drain. I get that halo has been struggling mightily, but I don’t think a reboot of ALL that is the solution.
I hate this baby ass mindset. Rebooting something doesnt make the pre reboot stuff suddenly vanish from existence. Did DMC 1-4 turn into ash when the reboot happened? No. Besides, you can easily do a reboot via a big timeskip to create original circumstances and not reset the timeline at all, like megaman X or 40k.
Halo doesn’t need a reboot Halo doesn’t need 343i or Halo Studios Halo also doesn’t need Bungie The next Halo project should be crafted from the ex-Bungie key developers who created this franchise. It’s the only way they’re bringing it back for good. Retcon everything from Halo 4 to Infinite and return us back to the very end of Halo 3
As far as the brand goes, yes absolutely. Halo is now a complete train wreck. The lore is basically unrecognizable from when Bungie ran the show (Forerunners were clearly ancient humans with that revelation being what the Prophets started the Human Covenant War to cover up. Rampancy went by the Marathon definition. And a bunch of other things). Prior to Infinite the gameplay and art style didn’t resemble Halo. Unfortunately, if we were to get a reboot it’s basically inevitable that they’d horrifically botch it. The Halo show was basically a reboot, as we all know how much that sucked.
They should reboot the franchise from Halo 4 onwards. Leave the original games alone, and fix the ones that actually need fixing. De-canonize Halo 4, Halo 5: Guardians, Halo: Infinite, and all of the events post-Halo 3, and start over from Halo 3's Legendary ending onwards.
A reboot would be an interesting thing, I like the age idea you mentioned since it can tie things in pretty easily. Great video by the way! Excited for more!
The story direction was an absolute inconsistent mess after halo 3. They really didn't know who/what to stick with as the antagonist forces. By the end of infinite, thats 4 different enemies the games story kept switching through. Forerunners, storm covenant, the created (a god awful plot) ans the banished. Probably the endless too, so that's actually 5 different enemies. Not to mentioned many major points were concluded off screen. To me, Halo 4 onwards should have been simply Forerunner focused in terms of delving into who they are, along with covenant loyalists as our enemy. People will say that would have been repetitive. But it makes the most sense to me. Besides we basically continued with the Coventant anyway, each one just had a different goal, so might as well kept the actual covenant loyalists going as there would have been Coventant out there still devoted to their religion and cause. In a way Halo 4, 5 and infinite each feel like a restart of Halo 3' continuation Ironically they themselves felt like constant reboot of post halo 3's story. They didn't feel like a continuation of each other, nor a continuation of halo 3 and what should be all part of the same developing story line. Each installment just felt like trial and error, not a trilogy.
@@adambelfast1yeah and huge retcons like making humans and forerunner different in halo 4 when bunjee clearly said they were the same species in halo 1-3
@@adambelfast1agreed. I know people didn't like the evil cortana ending to halo 5, but they might as well have continued with it. They were basically in the middle of that whole story when they decided not to actually show any of it. We skipped way past all that. It wasn't my favorite idea, but I was intrigued to see what happened with an evil cortana that you have to fight against. Ally and companion turned enemy.
I don't think it necessarily needs to be a reboot. They can usher a new era while still continuing the ongoing storyline. The Banished and Endless storyline from Infinite can continue but the stories will be much larger, darker, with bold step forward in gameplay directions. How? Idk, somone in HS has to figure it out 🤷♂️
Another problem with Halo is that the weapons have become incredibly weak over the years just take the shotgun for example it could do 25 damage in Combat Evolved the Bulldog in Infinite is a BB gun in comparison to that weapon that needs to change not only are weapons weaker but their ammo capacity has been drastically drastically drastically drastically drastically drastically drastically drastically reduced which is also ridiculous the shotgun in Combat Evolved is again a good example it can hold 12 rounds and you can carry 60 extra rounds for it so weapon power and ammo capacity need to be upgraded significantly biomes in Halo Infinite there were no different biomes that's something that made Halo look incredible to me and just so people don't get confused about whether I'm talking about campaign or multiplayer I'm talking about campaign
@@silentwillgames Halo Combat Evolved for me was fun in the lower difficulties you could run and gun in the higher difficulties you had to be more careful I usually played the lower difficulties because I like a run and gun also a bad ass soldier cannot be bad ass without bad ass weapons
A CE reboot could be great if they make some new stuff for all the samey-ish areas/levels in the campaign and maybe even add some new levels from the books like alpha base or the events that happen between CE and H2, but if they touch the perfect weapon and vehicle sandbox of CE, then they're most likely going to ruin the multiplayer and probably make the campaign less fun too. A reboot for H2 and H3 would also be a great option, since both have been extremely rushed out back then and lost a lot of content to get it out on time. Since Microsoft has more than enough manpower, they could bring out all 3 reboots close to each other and maybe change up Infinite's old campaign and add the planned campaign DLC's so that Infinite could replace H4 in its position after H3's campaign and then start new games from there or cut out h4, h5 and Infinite completely and make new games from there, but changing up Infinite should cost less money and time.
The idea that a game can't be both an interesting multiplayer game with fun and competitive mechanics as well as a large story driven game is just not true in my opinion. Large scale games that go through design by committee probably can't do that, but there are several examples of games that have been able to hit both marks. Heck, the Halo games were one of them. Titan Fall 2 is one hell of a campaign and had a pretty healthy competitive scene, Age of Empires has a massive campaign list and still has a strong competitive community, don't even mention any of the Black Ops 2 or older Call of Duties, and while there may be more of a focus on cooperation in MMOs, there are still huge communities that take part in larger scale PVP. I just think that these design choices are suited around instead of making a GOOD product, they are making a MARKETABLE product. Hence why they went from loot boxes to battle passes, single skill based achievements to cycling task based achievements, cosmetics through achievements to money or long af task lists. I mean, there's tons of games that just hit you with the "You have to play for 30 minutes every day, or you can't get this shiny keychain" to trigger people's FOMO. TLDR: Good was replaced by marketable.
You are 100000% valid and correct. I felt however the last few entries of the series lost focus on the core backbone of the game leaving the multiplayer as well as the campaigns feeling hollow. Competitive play is such a fun aspect of the Halo series, they just no longer give us the chance to find that balance. They shoved what was worth our time in our face and hid what was lacking until it was too late.
"It feels like a franchise caught between nostalgia and a need to move forward," TRUE! I agree that a reboot is lazy, I just hate the idea of them finding a convoluted way to dismiss everything in Halo Infinite, just so they can do a soft reboot again. It feels messy. No they shouldn't. They'll ruin it by not following the golden triangle like they have since reach. If they really want to revive halo, make a new classic style halo game.
