Suburban Backyard Food Forest (in containers): Phố Phạm | Central Texas Garden

- Plant-based food for her young family’s good health: that’s why Phố Phạm scrapped the lawn for a backyard food forest. She lined the fence with seasonal vegetables-including 200 peppers-and potted up 300 fruit trees. Peaches, pears, plums, figs, guavas, and citrus head to the kitchen for right-now eating, along with preserves and spicy sauces. From a hydro grow tent, they harvest fresh mushrooms.

Not only her garden is admirable, Pho is one of the sweetest and kindest soul I’ve met. I moved to Austin during the pandemic with my boyfriend and we became friends through a facebook gardening group. She always gives us fruits and vegetables from her garden, cook us meals since we were new to the state. Beside everything going on at home, she’s super active in the Vietnamese community, bringing everyone together through the love of gardening. We no longer living in Texas, but we miss her very much and grateful for making our pandemic year much less lonely.
Oh, I'm so glad that you got to see this! Yes, she is so very kind: I hope to learn more from her about Vietnamese recipes.
She gave me a tree and didn't even know me. She is a wonderfully kind person. Keep up the good work.
How wonderful! Yes, she is such a kind and generous person!
Any idea where Pho is getting all of these trees from? I'm in Central Texas and want to get some container fruit trees going.
I just want to be a neighbor with her. Great personality and an amazing backyard garden!
Labor of love....beautiful and inspiring
Wow, what a phenomenal example of what is possible!! It is giving me hope to grow tropical plants in Central TX!
I absolutely love this lady. She seems to have such a good soul and gives me such great vibes.
Off the bat I knew she was a hard worker and I love how she mentioned she works full time too! I laughed out loud because I feel her exactly!
What a fantastic container orchard!!
I'm sure she'd love to meet YOU!
@@CentralTexasGardener OMG yess!
This gives me hope for potted plants!
I love to see large container gardens. This garden tour did not disappoint. 😉
Wow! What an inspiration. If I can grow about 25% of what Pho is growing, I’d be so excited. You can tell she’s very efficient.
I really appreciated her tip on how she cared for her potted trees. I might be inspired enough to grab a couple.
She has no squirrels problems!! good for her! I had a whole tree of figs and persimmons last year. I didn't get even one to eat- the squirrels came to eat 3 per day and left part of each one on the ground before the fruits ripen. I took down a loquat tree full of fruits every year. Finally, I decided not going to feed tree rats anymore.
What. Yes. Nice.
The plants looks so healthy, amazing food garden in containers!!
Nothing short of amazing! We live in the hill country of Leander, with very rocky soil and harsh summers, and we live on an acre of sloped yard, and though we have planted a few variety of fruit trees over the last eight years, we’ve had no fruit. Other gardening in pots, is hit or miss. Your garden is lovely.
What an amazing Lady! Loved her personality and her obvious gardening skills and knowledge.
Absolutely stunning garden. I am so amazed at all that Pho and her family have done.
Love her passion and excitement!
Wow Pho, this is impressive, and you have to be a little crazy to keep up with this amount of work. Please take that as a complement. I bet she makes the best food too! I also wish you were my neighbor!
Love this! Would love to have her as a neighbor and learn more about container gardening from her!
I’m totally inspired! Pho is amazing!!

Finger limes!!! I've been trying to find those!
This is amazing! Thanks for sharing this.
This is excellent!
Very Inspirational! Thanks!
This is amazing.
This interview was too SHORT!!
The only thing I find off-putting is that she paved her yard completely, but she's growing some interesting stuff.
I really enjoyed this vlogg your are an inspiration to my gardening channel🙏 Damien from Ireland
How wonderful to hear from you! I'd love to visit Ireland's gardens someday!
Nice gardener but the video showed so little of the garden.
That was all the garden!
This is ridiculous, where do you even find all of these fruit varieties at?
Nurseries in Houston and Florida
Why does she change to potting soil so often? It's supposed to last year's and years isn't it?
And you grow all your plants in containers ?
Some in ground in raised beds along the fences.
