Major problem for michigan is that lynn was number 1 against the run last year.

USC is going to load the box to try to stop Orji. That will leave Michigan's WR's in one-on-one matchups that they have to win.
That won't happened.. if Michigan have said they can't win one on one battles. That's why they are switching QB. Going to run most of the time and lose. Michigan defense is good but not great or elite anymore.

D'Anton Lynn had the #1 run defense last year. Michigan wont do much! Michigan doesn't have the horse's to stop USC! Michigan will have to kick lots of FGs. USC has a big win in Ann arbor
#1 defense doesn't mean anything, Don Brown had the #1 defense 2 seasons in a row at Boston College.

USC had to deal with Alex Grinch.. so having a coordinator with the head on his shoulders and not a his head buried in football for dummies books, has me kind of excited. Don't text and drive... But I meant number one run defense. His defense was top five. Either way Lincoln Riley hired the only guy to prevent his offense from putting 30 points or more on the board. I'm glad he's at USC and not Alex Grinch
He was quick to point out. What should have been considered all along by those who wanna sit up in critique? What Michigan's doing? But then fail to remember what michigan has been building the last several seasons under Sherrone Moore....
An SEC, smash-mouth, powerback, RPO system.
This is a system where the run is the staple, the pass is the option you cannot run the RPO successfully thinking you're gonna do that with a pocket passer.
They had to keep it real and stick to the system. They had been building even the thought of going with Davis Warren was a betrayal to every recruitnthey had been bought in under the guise of playing a dual threat system.
Against popular opinion, Alex Orji does not have to focus on his passing... as a dual-threat QB he is effectively the fourth rushing option at third down and red zone situations.
This is why you wanna run with the powerback system because it keeps the corner ISO'd while the TE, RB1 read the free safety and linebackers...
Then your fleetest receivers can boogie downfield - it's simple attrition that works.
Michigan did the right thing - now Sherrone Moore Has the call the place to ensure success? Because Kirk Campbell is not the man at OC, and should never have been promoted in the first place.
As for Wink Martindale, This is first season with the squad. And they're about 70% acclimated. Give him another season and they'll be snapped over to what he's doing as opposed to his understudies.
