This video's been analyzed to death but most everyone is always bringing something new to the table that's why i never get tired of the breakdowns. I also don't get tired of this wishbus version of AKNL. Prolly listened to it a million times lol 😆
This was written especially for her and her abilities. Amazing breath control and vocal range. Another thing. Her cover of Rise Up is probably her most viewed song. It's been taken down 4 or 5 times by UA-cam. Someone keeps reposting it,thank God.
While it’s definitely in her top 5 most viewed, it’d be very difficult to top the 200million+ views from the Secret Love Song cover (which also happens to be the most viewed video on the whole Wish Bus channel)
yes. rise up is her most viewed song. when it was last taken down some 2 or 3 years ago it had close to 200 million views when secret love song still was at 90 millions (now 200). so rise up must have had like 300 to 400 million views. doesn‘t really matter but it tells you something about her performance there. there are several reactions (!!) out there on youtube to her rise up version with around a million views or more, one with over 3 million views, think about that…. :o
@@martinkasprzik5069 when Rise Up was taken down it had about 14 million views. Before Rise Up was taken down "Akin Ka Nalang "Wish Bus version had overtaken it in views. Theoretically had it stayed up we can only assume it would probably be comparable to the views Akin Ka nalang has currently, and not have passed the front runner Secret Love Song.
If it keeps getting taken down, don't you think that would also happen to the reaction?
@@BoraViolin that probably already was a re-upload and there were several, or it got more views after that, it is complicated and I don‘t have screenshots and it was years ago. maybe I remember it wrong… but as I said it doesn’t really matter, what matters is her performance of that cover, and that was awesome :)
Peter, if you've just discovered the world of Morissette, you have a very enjoyable experience ahead of you. She has absolutely great performances in a number of different genres - she can sing anything and do covers that are better than the originals.
I've heard her sing this at several different venues and it's always different. She rarely uses that whistle tone in the song. Saving her voice I imagine, not sure.
I saw a video of her saying that she doesn't want to only be known as a "whistle" girl, that's why she rarely does whistles nowadays. And on an interview, she said that she will be taking care of her voice while having a great normal life. I believe both of these factors are the reason why she rarely does whistles now😉👍
It does damage the vocal cords overtime. So, let's treasure this performance :)
Pros call it a vocal cry or vocal break. Yes,in an interview she said they're actually a short whistle tone.

This song is totally hers, no one has ever succeeded in overshadowing her performance. this song made me love her as an artist. If you're up for some a capella from her, i recommend Driver's Licence Bare Cover and Rise Up ft 3rd Avenue (black and white video) thank you very much.❤️
Great video. That was a very insightful note on air management. Tip: Always check if subtitles are available in English! This one had them, and you could have been able to judge her stylistic choices with more confidence!
Thanks for reacting, Peter. Morissette is one of the best female vocalists of her generation. She is a queen. She can sing any genre. For musical theater, try her version of Defying Gravity (stages session). Several people have mentioned her Wishbus performance of Rise Up, but I actually prefer her a capella version. To hear her sing original music, try anything from her Signature EP: Love You Still, Phoenix, Will You Stay, Mirror, and Trophy. Keep it up, love your reactions.

She's just so addicting. The perfect blend of technique, style, raw talent, and theatrically. You come for the vocal tricks and stay because she makes you believe every song she does is expressing her innermost feelings 100%.
I'd suggest her cover of Fly Like A Bird (with ALL the tricks), Learn To Fly from Wicked, or a newer one like Gusto Ka Nang Bumitaw.
BTW, this one is really personal because it's about a woman wishing her dream guy would notice her as more than a friend. Supposedly about her American husband. That explains why it's so emotional.

For me, i think she is one of the most skilled singers i have heard.
She not only is capable of singing well, she has an outstanding voice quality, pitch control, singing technique, vibrato control and is a superb storyteller.
Storytelling is very often something many people don't think about when singing, but it is so crucial to being a good singer people connect with.
ALL great singers / vocalists are very good at telling a story when they perform, it is what separate them from good singers and makes them great.
Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw on the Wish Bus is the song where she goes off. You should have a "Wish Bus Wednesday" or something. The Wish Bus has so many talented singers. There is something going on in the Philippines.

As i was listening to mori's singing,i was imagining to somebody who is crying,pleading,in deep sorrow, maybe in agony.I am sure the voices she projected is an actual expression of a person who is emotionally depress ,in pain. It's really an emotional song. She really is a genius singer featuring an emotion of a desperate person. It's a crying voice.I was very touch. I am 66 yrs old just heard such emotional melody. This should definitely be one of my favorite reactions to my most favorite Mori performance. Thanks for the insightful, educational and at the same time entertaining discussion and explanations about vocal folds closure and air flow, also about riffs. We learn to appreciate more what Mori was doing with her approach and stylistic choices that made this piece into a great singing performance, watched and loved by millions. Sitting down, in a bus made into a studio, with all those gadgets and instruments, difficult situation, "all odds against her", yet she has done an excellent job. She has a God-given talent, an incredible built-in singing mechanism, beautiful voice and timbre, flexible vocal folds, strong breath support, that she is capable of easily doing squeaks and whistle notes that other singers can only dream of doing. Cap that with a beautiful face and a warm and bubbly personality with always a ready smile, and you got a complete package. 🥰

Thank you for your detailed analysis of this amazing artist. I recommend Mori's rendition of "Defying Gravity" to showcase her Theatrical talents, and her truly intimate and emotional performance of "Could You Be Messiah". Both are at the far ends of her performance spectrum.
To step away from the Wish Bus for a moment, I would recommend her live performance of "Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw' with her band. She completely explodes on this one. We got one idiots, he is American black, keep describe himself he had a degree in music study, but, his channel got abandoned, No one's else going to support him or view his channel cos, he basically just insulting Mori is using lips syncing, cos he tot using a lips syncing is not a big deal or shameful. It quite normally uses it in American music industry. But, to Philippines, is a insulted. Cos, to a professional artist in ph, they didn't use any of lips syncing or auto tune, all basically sang at their own true voice. To Morissette, she's is the best of best female vocalist in the world.

I Love Miss Morissette "Mori" Amon! She's absolutely, hands down a Superb Vocal Artist of this Century and am very surprised that she's not known in the International scene, as of yet.
