    Phrasal verbs are very common in spoken English, especially in more informal contexts. They are made up of a verb and a particle or, sometimes, two particles. The particle often changes the meaning of the verb.
    Ex: Take (original verb) becomes a phrasal verb when the particle "off" gets added at the end ,Take off (Phrasal verb) which has a totally different meaning from the meaning of the original verb
    In this video I m trying my best to explain each and every phrasal verb in Sinhala, have included example sentences in Sinhala to give you an idea about how these are used in context, in real conversations.
    *Write down all the new phrasal verbs you learn today in your vocabulary book
    *create new sentences using each
    *and review the same few times
    MOST IMPORTANTLY start using these phrasal verbs in your daily conversations at school, at university ,at work or at home
    Happy learning :-)

    Hey dilhara i have a question about 6th example calm down. Here you mention sat down- sat down is past tens. But it use with other phrasal verb calm myself down. Question about calm myself down. Why it not be calmed myself down ???

    • @EnglishCoachDilhara
      @EnglishCoachDilhara  Рік тому +2

      Hi! I hope you 're referring to the example sentence for the verb "calm down". The reason is what you should use following the preposition "to" is the "infinitive" . Just like in 👉 "I wanted to become a teacher" ✅
      You can't say "I wanted to became a teacher"❌

      There's not much of a difference between two options,
      but in spoken English ,"tie up" is the most popular and the most commonly used verb (phrasal verb) to mean the same
      you have below alternatives as well
      -Tie your hair up
      -Tie your hair back
      -Tie your hair in a ponytail/a knot
