    I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won roughly a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

    This will really help me in selecting my CB. Its very over whelming like you said. It makes sense to me now. I have watched about 30 CB videos and yours was the easiest to follow and understand. You explained using the 3 water clarity types and showed example baits for each. EXCELLENTLY DONE.

    Great topic. Thanks Matt. Got some questions regarding your clarity/ color system.
    1. In muddy water do you typically utilize a slower retrieve so the fish can find the bait?
    2. In crystal clear water do you utilize a faster retrieve so they don’t get a good look at the bait?

    Great points and I totally agree - I don’t do it much but I will throw a plain black crank bait in clear water and have luck with it. Seems better when it is a deep diver - say over 12 or 14 feet deep. I don’t know why - maybe you know?

    • @MattStefanFishing

    When would you choose a mat finish over gloss? And do you let matching the hatch trump adjusting for water clarity? Like would you still throw a white based shad crank in 2-4 feet of vis if you're fishing a bluegill fishery? Or would you try to find a bluegill pattern with a white base? Or should I just throw the shad cranks and not worry about it since it's a reaction bite anyway?

    • @MattStefanFishing
      @MattStefanFishing  2 роки тому +1

      I like mat finish on sunny days and gloss on cloudy days. Generally a Shad color depicts most panfish as well to a point IMO

  • @fysh1945

  • @Unspoke
    @Unspoke 2 роки тому +1

    Just from my experience, I have found that a translucent bluegill or perch gold color has worked pretty well across the states regardless of water clarity. I believe that the fish can see better than what we give them credit for.

    Thank you Matt, very good advice and well received. I have a topic for a future episode or when you have time, I have seen that some anglers change their treble hooks for single hooks in crankbaits and jerkbaits arguing less damage to the fish and better hook up ratio. What do you think ?

    • @MattStefanFishing

      I don’t believe a single hook is better hookup ratio

    Another great video with info we can put to use.
    I have a suggestion for a possible video topic. 'Have sponsors become to demanding'. I'm mainly talking about what I see in television. It used to be a show host may mention a specific brand but the show concentrated on the technique not brands. Now shows are product ads. The show titles even specify products being featured. What happened? Randy Blaukat had a video where he talked about the declining influence of Classic winners and rising influence of UA-camrs. Maybe this is the reason. What makes it worse is the blatant copies of Japanese baits that manufacturers are putting out. They then come to Icast and say look what we made. Sorry, I'm ranting. Thanks again.
