Theater Talk: Tony Wrap-Up 2012 and Emanuel Azenberg

Producer Emanuel Azenberg explains the business of Broadway from his perspective and gives us a good idea why he was awarded this year's Tony Award for "Life-time Achievement." Also, a "Tony Wrap-Up, 2012" with Jesse Green (New York Magazine), Michael Musto (The Village Voice), and Patrick Pacheco (LA Times) discussing this year's Tony telecast, the big winners, and the major upsets.

Theater Talk is a series devoted to the world of the stage. It began on New York television in 1993 and is co-hosted by Michael Riedel (Broadway columnist for the New York Post) and series producer Susan Haskins.
The program is one of the few independent productions on PBS and now airs weekly on Thirteen/WNET in New York and WGBH in Boston. Now, CUNY TV offers New York City viewers additional opportunities to catch each week's show. (Of course, Theater Talk is no stranger to CUNY TV, since the show is taped here each week before its first airing on Thirteen/WNET.)
The series is produced by Theater Talk Productions, a not-for-profit corporation and is funded by contributions from private foundations and individuals, as well as The New York State Council on the Arts.

Every bloody year Michael asks if "this is the end of the Tonys telecast?" Does he want that? I wish he would stop with that. They aren't cancelling the Tonys!

I saw the Hairspray thing at the 2012 TONYS. I will say that for a show that base their theme around diversity and respecting people who are different from you, I wished they would've had some diversity in the singers and dancers.

I liked the NPH opening, but I think Hugh Jackman should be involved in hosting next year

I was pointing out the fact that all the dancers/singers in the Hairspray promo for the cruise ship thing were all white and I think they should've had some diversity. Just an observation, not a complaint. :D

Are you saying all the dancers were black or white?
Because if you knew the musical you would know that it did not matter how much of each are there
