Moronic. My dad lost over 100 lbs at 80 yo after a lifetime of chronic obesity. He threw away his BP meds he'd been on for 40 years and now walks without a walker.
It shouldn't be prescribed for ppl who have 10 lbs to lose but people who really need it and have struggled for years- it is 100% a miracle.

People really need to do their own research on Ozempic. (If they really need it for weight loss). Ozempic is a GLP1 receptor agonist. GLPR1 receptors send the I am full single to the brain. ( this is a very simple explanation). Some people do not produce enough of this, and thus need a boost. That’s what Ozempic aids. It is extremely important to remember that Ozempic is just one part of a weight loss strategy, and should only be taken by people that are willing to eat a healthy diet and exercise. If you aren’t willing to put in the work and make the changes to your lifestyle, of course Ozempic won’t work, and the moment you stop taking it you will totally gain all the weight plus more back.

    • @KihmJones
      @KihmJones 7 місяців тому +17

You won’t gain the weight back if you use the time you’re doing the med to change your eating habits and learn how to have a different lifestyle. For me it’s about portion control and exercise as well as stress management. I’ve stopped taking it for 3 weeks and had no problem with sticking with my diet and plan. No weight gain. You can’t take the med and carry on with your old ways. I guess you could but what’s the point? I have had not one bad side effect. Have felt great and have lost 55 lbs so far. Have another 20-30 to go. I intend to continue to keep learning and to stay healthy. This has gotten me over the hump!!! Love it!!!

What the doctor mentions in the video regarding "starvation" and loss of muscle mass is a result of how ozempic significantly slows down the digestive process to the point you are essentially starving yourself as you are not digesting and absorbing food normally, while not feeling hungry. It will be very difficult to put that muscle back on. It seems like a trade-off between health risks.

  • @TaraFulton

If you actually listen to what she is saying instead of getting outraged by the title, you’d realize this has always been common knowledge.
There’s no weight loss without muscle loss, and excessive muscle loss can cause problem to the organs. The healthiest path is avoid extreme weight fluctuations and maintain a healthy, constant BMI.
However if a person is morbidly obese and hasn’t been able to lose weight for years, then the risks of remaining obese outweigh the ones of ozempic. I don’t know what’s so hard about that.

I can attest- was trying to get off last 10lbs. (to 133 at 5'5" fit female) I use a BMI scale at the gym which is a high quality machine. In one month I lost 5lbs. but my body fat %went UP and I actually lost 2 lbs. of hard earned lean muscle. So mad, beyond the pale. I worked out during that month and my diet had plenty of protein but it was absolutely CATOBOLIC on my muscle. Not to mention by 3rd week I was exhausted. I did low carb and kept calories at 1200 which is what I have to do to move the needle. Sure it was good to not be hungry but several months later and back to my original BMI and muscle, I can say that I appreciate my strength and appetite. For me it was horrible, made me feel old and fragile and I really wonder if it did any more damage. Great drug for the death-fats but if you are close t to ideal weight don't bother. I wholeheartedly agree with you on this. I wish I had known this before starting on Mounjaro. I was not prescribed it for weight-loss, but for type 2 diabetes with the hope of it reducing my weight. I used a Keto diet to reverse my type 2 diabetes along with this medication. I mentioned the 6 lbs of muscle loss over a year to my doctor and he wasn’t concerned and told me I could not stop the medication even though my A1C is now normal. I have chosen to stop the medication on my own, which I am not an advocate of, but felt I had no other options after also experiencing symptoms of pancreatitis which my doctor also did not take seriously. So now I’m sharing my story and encouraging other to do their research about this class of medications. I am 44 now and hoping that I can gain my muscle back, but I know it is going to be a challenging.

With the addition of the correct peptides, this won’t happen. Semaglutide is a peptide and if you get it compounded, NAD+ can/is added. There are also several HGH activating peptides like sermorlin, cjc 1295. and impamorlin that have demonstrated success in increasing muscle mass and bone density. The problem is the pharmaceutical companies can’t patent these compounds because they’re naturally occurring proteins in everyone’s body. That means they can’t charge you an arm and a leg for something you already have. So, yes, semaglutide has some problems, but the real problem is our medical system

He initially lost about 30lbs & was told that he should return to his lap band surgeon to have the cuff in his stomach inflated. This would have helped him by creating a tighter band at the top of his stomach to help him avoid over eating. Well he had a long list of excuses of as to why he didn’t want to do this. Well over the next 10 years he gained at least 100lbs. He is now on another diabetic medication similar to Ozempic & has lost 25lbs. His cardiologist said he will put him on Ozempic this Spring.

It used to be thought that the 20% muscle mass loss was very problematic, however if they are on low doses and eating properly, you are losing the fat (think of a marbled slab of meat) so that you are leaner. You should still be eating enough things to sustain your muscles but you want lean muscles and strong bones. So you can't just take GLP1 and eat crappy. You have to make sure your calories are nutrient dense so you don't lose bone density. Most people shouldn't be on high doses, they should be giving a small dose and slowly raise till you start feeling better. If you get any side effects then go back to lower dose. If your doctor isn't explaining that to you, get a better doctor. They don't understand how it works and shouldn't be prescribing it to their patients.

Yes, I agree that most people on ozempic for weight loss ignore the advice that it is an adjunct to diet and exercise. But if you take care to have plenty of protein and exercise, especially with resistance training - you won't have that major drop off in muscle mass. The fact that they won't do it, is obvious, but they also had no plans to diet and were going to have all the health problems related to obesity, such as diabetes and heart attack.

Imagine a doctor saying this about the covid vax. Medications arent a one size fits all. Common sense says if you want to lose weight eat properly and exercise

It almost killed me … my white blood cells dropped very low along with so much other stuff . I’ve been seeing a hematologist for a few months because of this medication.
I feel like I should speak out more about this

Just need to keep lower dosages and counsel people on the importance of strength training and eating protein.

I've always agreed with this. When i lost my weight, I did it by tracking calories and hard gym workouts. The idea of putting poison in my body to lose weight never occurred to me. That medicine is so dangerous and has many side effects. No thanks!
