It still wasn't necessary lol If they wanted to put Aqours in their place, they could've easily did it during their performance later on. It shows, since they sounded totally different here than when they performed live.

Lol of think it was to show th3 differences in skill, since saint snow is supposed to be more talented since they've probably been doing this since Leah they were younger (sort of like a more professional version of the Kurosawa sisters)
And even with that clear difference in skill, we see that even they are out preformed.
