Kaossilator Bach Remix

- After a long time away from my beloved Kaossilator, here's another remix video, spur-of-the-moment. The theme is from 'Toccata & Fugue' for organ by the Godfather of music, J.S. Bach. I hope, if he were here, that he wouldn't hate me for violating his music... But anyway, he's not here so not to worry! Oh, and for those of you who watch the start and think, 'Nope no nunnet nopety nope, I'm not gonna watch this s*** when it's in a stupid effect', the effect only lasts about half a minute :D.

Wonderful, absolutely great performance! Sad to say, but that very well known Bach's Toccata was not from man it self... But what a f''ck great piece of music!
I saw this video around the time you posted it all those years ago when I was interested in getting one of these Kaossilators for myself. Randomly popped into my head and glad I managed to find this again. Still cool after all this time 😊
Thanks for coming back! Been a long while since this was made. Still got this Kaossilator on my shelf.
Hold down the loop length button together with the loop/rec button as you turn on the kaossilator to get 16 bars for recording.
Still love this, 11 years later lol
Do you have other baroque music chip-tunified? That was awesome.
Thanks! I don’t really have anything else like this. You could try the Beethoven kaossilator track I made.
Thanks.
Well, the Kaossilator is the yellow one (or pink special edition) and it is a 'dynamic phrase synthesizer'; in other words, it makes noises, like in this video.
The Kaoss Pad and the Mini-KP are actually effects processors. They are the red ones. They do not make noise (or only very basic noise).
So, in conclusion, buy the yellow one.
Best wishes.
@ImmoSci And by the way, when you do get one of these, I'd love for you to make a video and post it as a video response. I'll gladly allow it up so that the other 58,677 people who watched this can get a taste of real music making. Look forward to learning from you.
@yesusgearfly Well you won't get any useful rhythms out of a MicroKorg realistically, although it has potential for extremely basic rhythmic patches. So it really depends on whether you want to make some cool rhythmic loops or just want to experiment with programming your own sounds.
Hi there. Do you mean the grid on the touch pad? If so, you have to take the Kaossilator apart, and install it yourself. Look up 'KGridMod'. He has a video explaining how to do it, step-by-step. If that's not what you mean, please clarify.
@animatorguy2 I can't say I've had the fortune to try thw Kaossilator Pro. I think it's probably better to use a Kaossilator with a Kaoss Pad 3 and spend an extra £100 or so. That way you get the effects bank as well.
@ImmoSci No, yours will just suck on its own. And why exactly do you feel the need to go around insulting people aimlessly on youtube? It's usually brainless, talentless people with inferiority complexes.
@PlanetGolgomak Hi there, thanks for the comment. You just have the put the Kaossilato in DLY mode, and then slice the beat in real-time. It's hard to explain really...
Thanks. The stylus is from an old hand-held computer called the 'Psion'. A Nintendo DS stylus is perfect though if you want to use one. They're dirt cheap.
@Pandanobear @Pandanobear Thanks a lot. You can actually download this on my album Tailors' Oaks. There's a download link the description.
@Alexnoppac You'll need an RCA to jack cable or line-in so you can plug your Kaossilator straight into the mic input on your computer.
@SanelyInsane I do appreciate the piece. I'm a conservatoire student. I just had the change the note for the purposes of this remix.
@minicm122 I've just used the audio RCA outputs of the Kaossilator and connected them to my PC, then recorded what I'm playing.
Well, I'd already recorded a hi-hat on gate 0, and then built up the beginning lead bit with gate 3, aeolian scale on sound 9.
I installed it myself. Search KGridMod and you'll find a video on how to do it. Pretty easy and extremely useful.
Thanks!
@gonzojournalism46 You need to use a secret mode. Search Kaossilator secret modes on youtube and you'll find demo videos.
@TheAdLab I think I'm using Aeolian scale. I'm not sure what key it's in though without a keyboard at hand. Thanks.
@TrimmedPaper The red one is the Mini-KP, which is an effects processor. The yellow one is a synthesizer. Thanks!
@gunghoman414 Sounds like it should be working already. Make sure the line in isn't muted in the control panel.
@animatorguy2 No, but it starts to get a little busy and a bit unpleasant sounding if you loop too many times.
There is no effect on it. It's one of the preset sounds with a gate arpeggiator. Can't remember which. !
@BrainstrainMusic I'm using Cubase to record. The grid is custom installed. Search KGridMod.
Thanks.
@SMOOOOKEEEE Hey, about £120 new, but you can get one for about £80 off eBay if you look around.
Thanks a lot. Nope, just goes straight into speakers or line-in. That's the beauty of it really.
wow this is great i have just got a kaossilator. Now i see how much practice i have to do!!
Hi thanks. In a couple of weeks, I hope to upload a LOT of new stuff. Keep your eyes open.
Very well done. Have you ever heard the album Switched On Bach? Back in the late sixties a few musicians took the then-infant Moog Synthesizer and recorded a selection of Bach songs. According to the liner notes, this marked the first time an instrument could capture all the nuances the composer wanted for some of the compositions. Obviously, electronic instruments did not alter the classical music landscape in they way suggested by the album, but electronic instruments are still young.
i dont know how to get the grid, they have rubber pads but how to get it into your computer is go out and buy an RCA to Stereo/Headphone and if you have an audio in on your computer, put it in there and press record on your software or if you have a sound recorder like a Tascam or with something that has an audio-in for a boom mic or whatever, put the stereo end in it and then hit record and make your music, thats what i do. sorry, but i dont know another way but i hope that helps :)
@psychopath3000 having looked at my comments, i spoke wildly out of turn, and am really sorry for any upset I caused, I was angry then and felt like releasing my anger onto the internet. That was wrong and i shouldn't have even gone there. I just have very stubborn views on music of the period and think it should only be performed as it was intended. I apologise again, and I hope that you enjoy producing music from your kaossilator.
When my face recompiles itself after its latest explosion, I will congratulate you on your awesomeness... I cant afford a kaossilator right now, untill I can I have to listen to others awesome win.
(I have KORG DS 10, and I want to use the kaossilator along side it and some other fun things to compose some sweet stuff, though the kaossilator allows for some sweet solo play too. :D )
very good job bro!!! i can see you have used it quiet abit to get that good.. keep it up
I like the grid deal there. I may make one somehow. I guess just draw on on some plastic or acetate maybe and try to lay it over it with scotch tape. it is an issue to get back to the right sound after you lift your finger up one of these. I will try to figure out out to make one. Inspiring work. Checking out your Bandcamp stuff now.
I think you mean the grid. I installed it for more accurate playing. Search KGridMod.
@SanelyInsane I am glad you are here to hear, to hold us on the straight and narrow. Don't fall off, or pay a note that has not been approved by a comity and at least one licensed historical preservation society. Seriously, you needed to post that? Ego check: voting you a semi-tone down.
damn..i played with the Pro version at Cuitar Center a few days ago and man was it fun. my parents always wanted me to pick up an instrument like guitar or piano. but this is the kind of music i like making. im def. gunna try and get a Kaossilator Pro for christmas or sumthing
I think Bach wouldn't mind at least he isn't being butchered by thousands of wannabe shredders like Pachelbel *lol* But seriously, thats really great cover, keep it up maybe you turn out to be the next Walter/Wendy Carlos (sex change is not obligatory btw)
greetz
@psychopath3000 I've got two microkorgs and they are awesome. If you really know how to play a synth you will do well with those plus they have vocoders. You can run in samples of anything or just use your voice through those vocoders and transform those into rhythmic loops. You should get the microkorgs and the kaossilator. Look for them used :)
Wow!!!! Kudos, man...this is fantastic!
I literally JUST received mine tonight, and I can't WAIT to wrap my head around this thing! My "1st 20 minutes" videos are equivalent to an old 1970's Dinosaur Piano Toy compared to this, lo!!!
Stellar job.
my 2 favorite types of music is psychedelic and classical, nice bro. im about to order one of these also, im thinking about getting a critter and guitari pocket piano also, do you know if these two are compatible?
Awesome stuff! As i wrote in another vid of yours, xou are by far the best kaossilator-only performer on youtube!
But how did you do those whatchamacallems at
2:27, 2:30, 2:35 ? i thought you would need a KP for that...
Thanks. Umm, I used a lot of programs.... can't really remember them all. Sorry!
Thanks so much. I installed the grid myself, after watching a video by KGridMod.
hey man how are you recording your music??? i have a laptop and i have a usb soundcard. i have the rcas into the line input on the usb soundcard and i have virtual dj to record them but how do you make it work?????

thanks.
oh and that was acc sick.
Best Kaossilator mix I've ever heard! Mr Garner you are very talented man.
@psychopath3000 ah i see, do you prefer the kaosillator, or the kaosillator pro based on their features. is spending more on pro worth the features added?
Yo, I don't know how that on got by me... Hot shit happening there. I had a Bach piece I was working on, but I don't think I'll be posting it now...lol
The Grid is just to asist hitting the right spot on the screen/sensor. Its a simple mod, you can find out how to do it else where on youtube.
Someone probably already asked this but i didnt want to search all the comments, what is that little tool thing you use to press on the screen
Awesome!!
I am definitly getting a KAOS however i may go for the Pro. So for now im holding on to my money (also want a Numark OMNI control first)
@tc35drum Search for secret modes kaossilator. You'll find a tutorial.
8 dislikes = 8 haters, and i like how the effects stopped right when you started the beat. good beat and video i have to go get one now
From this found out that this kit can do the intro to 'Plug in Baby' by Muse (one of my fav. rock songs.
Genius vid. Thanks again!
Very nice! Is this a particular pencil that you use with the kaossilator? Thanks!
Hi Chris. It’s a stylus from an old PDA. Cheers!
@@JohnGarnerViolin thanks! Cheers from Greece!
please can someone tell me where to get or purchase the grid from?
(bearing in mind that i'm from Britan, England, West Midlands)
My kaossilator doesn't have that grid on the kaoss pad! You made it yourself or is it a different model??
Terriffic, by the way!
What is that for a kind of effect on the sample at 1:55 pleeeease tell me i need to know!! ;) it sounds totaly awesome :)
how are u getting it to record for long periods cuz I can't record for as long as u do in the video and others as well
Can't remember to be honest, but it definitely was a lot of takes.
@SanelyInsane HOLY CRUD! This is an AMAZING effort and all you have to say is that ONE note was off? Goodness...
dude! wheres the mp3 download, this is awesome! no i know a great new way to make my music! thanks for posting!
so sweet man, how did you get the grid on yours/ how do you get your sound into PC (sorry if english is bad)
@skateplayguitar its a film on the screen, with some squares on it! i have that too, its a real good help. :D
Yes, I am using 16-beat mode. The gate pattern is no. 3 I think..
what do you use as a stylus?
This was asked but I didn't see a reply. What are you using to hit the keys? What is that pen like thing.
Great work, man. Trying to use my Koassilator for freestyle rapping, loving hearing other's creations.
No one else on UA-cam can make actual music with this thing. You are a glaring exception to the rule.
how did you get that red grid on the touchpad?
still amazes me the level of this tribute. luv
Impressive playing. Plz, how did you get the red gris od your kaossilator?
how can you actually save the song onto your pc? Is there some program that can do that?`
I got mine a few minutes ago, so i'll eventually get it, thx for the inspiration and tips!
Very inspiring stuff. Out of interest what scale and key are you in for this?
Great job :-)
This is great stuff, beats most of the Kaossilator vids out there. Love the touchpad mod too!
@MrKisameshrk YES !! WOO!
There's a Korg Kaossilator app on the Appstore - it's NEW !!
@Parkouryianni Aeolian scale works well. Try that in C.
Dude that was the shit! Glad I stumbled across this godly jam session! Good job
where or how did u add the red squares to the touch pad of your kaossilator
Absolutely awesome, man. Did you put the red grid on the screen yourself?
@psychopath3000 How are you running this on more than 8 beats per loop?
what red pad do you have on your device where could i find one of them?
Lol the intro sounds like part of There Was a Hole Here from Silen Hill.
Ah wicked. Send my condolences about dying. Thanks!
This is absolute GOLD. Had me riveted from the start of the piece right to the finish. Brilliant!
Excellent!! Hello! what program used for recorded in Pc? Saludos !!
is there a limit to the amount of functions you can use in one loop?
berryGOOD!
It's a grid I installed myself. Search KGridMod.
Aaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwsooooooooome!!!!!!!! Fantastic work!!!
This is fucking sick! I'd download it on iTunes if I could.
nice
Thanks! Actually a couple of people have :P
@gonzojournalism46 yea theres a 16 beat mode check it out
