Very nice guys! Whenever I tell someone I want to buy a yacht and live on it, they look at me like I'm crazy, but imagine owning a 3000+ sq ft home that is mobile and can practically go anywhere in the world? Including livable square footage on any yacht is a smart marketing tool and would instantly make a yacht more relatable to someone who has no clue to that lifestyle. Good job!

    • @NautiGuys

Agreed! It would make it a lot easier to compare

@@NautiGuys Factor in the ease of making one of the staterooms an office. Modern communications letting you work from anywhere including video conferencing... There's no reason someone with the funds couldn't decide to make a yacht like this their primary or secondary home and not just a toy. You guys plan to live aboard and make a living using the other staterooms, so clearly it's possible even when giving up personal use of the majority of that space. Like he said, just that top deck outdoor space is bigger than many apartments. Plus, you can't beat the possible views. Plus, space efficiency on a yacht is so much better than most land based homes. There's minimal wasted space.

Personally, I think the industry should adopt the rule to list both the Surface and the Volume. This why you can compare and automatically release how much space you get for your surface. This then gives you an impression of how compact or spacious your yacht will be.

I have been watching you guys for a while now and watching this build has been absolutely fantastic. It seems only yesterday that you were laying down the keel. To see all the stages of construction and to see you checking every bit of it musty fill you with confidence that Bering are going to deliver exactly what you want and hopefully your insight onto the needs of the charter business will add to the smart additions added via your New Build Yacht List, further increasing the innovations from Bering for their range of pocket explorer yachts. Watching the next stages of the build are going to be fascinating, with the completion of the metalwork and watching all the machinery start to go in.
Keep up the good work, I cant wait to see what's next. Best wishes to You guys and the Bering crew!

Reading some of the comments. Most are positive and upbeat, imo as they should be. But for the others, price a 2000 sq ft home with great views and significant water frontage. Then put that home in assorted exotic locations and recalculate those costs. Don't forget to make the home self-sufficient for periods of time as well. Pretty sure in some places the cost of the yacht and the cost of the home are in the same ballpark. Nice homes with equally nice property tend to be pricey no matter where they are. As this will be their home, business and more or less life. It's an investment in themselves as well as a sort of trophy showing one of their goals was accomplished. It's very expensive either way, but with hard work and planning, doable. I feel they have done it. I have nothing but respect for this couple. As they are living their dream.
And if they are cut a deal on this or that, so what? Every industry I worked in, there were deals for those in it. I worked in the automotive industry for a period of time. There is special pricing on new cars for employees, family, contractors etc. Different levels for different tiers of relationship with the manufacturer. This price is no haggle, bottom line stuff. And if you catch it at a time with discounts, rebates etc, very very good deals. Sticker on a truck I bought in the late 90's was 25k, I paid 17k for it due to the special pricing as well as end of year rebates and some other special offers. I also worked in the food industry where I was frequently comped meals by customers. Discounts etc are common for those in an industry or those who support it. These benefits are earned through your own work, not just given. The ones giving those benefits are not doing so out of the goodness of their hearts. They have either received or are expecting to receive something in return.

That is a lot of space on board and it will make you very happy ! You will have a lot of extra space compared to tupperware boats of the same length. Having a good fuel economy also means you will be able to go from one tax free fuel stop to another and that will save a ton of money. Only one thing to keep in mind and that is the the tax free fuel, most of the times, contains a lot of sulfur, which can clog up the injectors. But it still beats fueling up at the normal fuel prices. 😀 And you also want to have those tanks full, they will provide a lot of added stability in windy conditions. When our tanks are half full or even 1/4 full the boat is nervous, the stabilizers have to work overtime. When the tanks are full (3200 liter) she is lying very stable in the water.
As a tip, when you pick up the boat in Turkey don't arrange fuel via an agent, simply go straight to the fuel company, will save you a ton of money. Same goes for Albania and Montenegro, the agents like to add 0.40 to 0.50 euro per liter just for arranging the fuel for you.

To put it into perspective, your interior boat space is the same sq ft as an average 3 bed, 2.5 bath home in the US. It's absolutely astounding just how much it costs to turn a land based home that size into an ocean crossing capable boat.

more apparent as the spaces become more discernible. Love these behind the scene look at the construction. It’s truly awe inspiring!!

Amazing space both interior and exterior and while your owner cabin on the upper deck is "small" compared to other owner cabins on smaller one couple owner operator non charter size boat it is plenty larger enough. With that much fuel and range if you are chartering out to and back from the Bahamas you might have 3 years of fuel capacity.

Apparently the heavy trawler with large stabilizer is less prone to rolling in a rough sea, so less likely hood of sea sickness. No stabs on a cat, plus waves would be striking the hulls at different times, lots of rock and roll whether you want it or not.

In my dream boat every cabin is full beam with a large display (TV) opposite the outside window framed exactly the same as the outside so that outside cameras show the opposite of the boat. Also, a huge display on the floor of the salon shows what is happening under the boat giving you a glass bottom boat affect. Today's technology and affordability of large displays and waterproof Wi-Fi cameras makes these options seem feasible. And also, highly marketable to your future charter customers. Easy magnetic attachments and also user installable. No need to pay a factory to install these things.

Volume is actually a better measure of size than square feet or square metres for boat size comparisons and even for liveable space, because volume takes into account height and height contributes to "liveability", "ambiance" and "overall space". More and more the boat industry is moving to volume.
Volume can also be measured piece by piece and then added together to exclude funny angles that may not be considered as "living" space.

Yeah, but people can’t relate to that as no one is really doing it for the houses

How hard will it be to convert or add to your current engines to add an electrical propulsion option in the future. Can you just add an e-motor separately and keep your current setup. I even thought that if you dingy had a powerful e-motor set up that you might design a docking that would allow your dingy to power the larger ship. if only for emergencies or short passages.

    • @NautiGuys

Interesting idea! Retrofitting our current engines or adding separate e-motors for electrical propulsion is a consideration for the future. Regarding the dinghy, an e-motor setup might be worth exploring for emergencies or short passages. Thanks for the innovative suggestion! 🙌

Thanks for putting it in that perspective. It does make it easier for us US based non metric individuals. It’s coming along nicely. $30k to fill it up, wow. I am assuming an Alfa Lavall fuel polisher is being installed. Considering the size of this yacht, I don’t even want to know what the marina fees will be.

I guessed 4000sq ft before you started.
Yes Victoria, that is a fairly accurate way of measuring by pacing it off. My dad did that all the time to measure a boat from the dock. 😎

Most people when doing extra long steps have a step length of ~1m give or take. It's actually good to know how long one's regular steps are and how long of a step 1m is.

Is Victoria at minute 3:15 talking about her future width ??? :) Ha Ha ! The open dropoffs should be blocked off - very dangerous. Make sure you have a good centrifugal polishing system. One of the most important factors for me as far as boats is volume and how it is used.

I guess Victoria hasn't realized yet (or she did but doesn't want to think about it lol) that she will have to take the boat from Turkey to the caribeans so I guess the tanks will have to be full more than once during the first year :D (my house is almost the same size but the garden is way smaller and I can't change neighbours or sceneries so easily :3 )

I would always ask that question (square footage) when purchasing a boat/ yacht. My last was an 80’ Lazzara and i think your 75’ Bering has more livable space. Maybe asking is a US thing. 🤦🏻‍♂️😂 congrats with the new build 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Extracting, hydrogen and oxygen from distilled water and adding it to diesel fuel has come a long way. It burns cleaner it’s more efficient it’s better for your engines and a reduces fuel cost by over 20%. Is this technology used in bearing yachts and have you considered it?

Once you listed the total at the end, I had to put it into further perspective for myself. I bought the properties surrounding mine via tax sales, commissioners sales and private sales. On these properties, there are four dilapidated houses with the same square footages that I'm tearing down- 672 sq-ft each, 2688 total. The brand new "efficiency" I built to live in is 504 sq-ft, so that brings the total up to 3192. So, the total sq-ft of your ONE BIG BOAT is roughly the same (you still had areas you didn't measure) as my little house PLUS the FOUR I'm tearing down!!! Now, I do also have two 576 sq-ft garages on the properties that I'm keeping, so if we discard what I'm tearing down and just go with what I'm keeping, my number will be 1656- meaning ALL of my indoor space would fit INSIDE your indoor space!!! Plus, you'll get to move your "yard" whenever you want!
