This was your BEST review of the series--meaning I agreed with EVERYTHING you said. Especially, that lack of an attempt to explain the "science" of the cloning of OG Jason in the Box. I was really hoping they would have explained that--even though science is not my forte, so I may not have understood an explanation. But, they should have tried. Regarding the cigar-smoking, Daniela-united Jason maybe NOT being the original Jason who was kidnapped in episode 1...that's a total mind-blower. My head is exploding around the thought of HOW this could be resolved by Daniela; and, does it even matter. Bottom line: next week's final will probably not tie-up all the loose ends, so I'm lowering my satisfaction expectation. Hopefully, the show picks the most important story points to resolve--and maybe there will be a second season [It has been published that the "Dark Matter" Writers Room team are currently "meeting."] Again, this episode review is (so far) your Best of the Season.
It og Jason the fact that he decided to do the cigar hack prove it the rest of the Jason are running around like chickens with their head cut off plus if you turn on subtitles they tell you who is who as the rubber and on his hand acting as a ring.
I'd rather they didn't try to explain and leave it a mystery of they weren't going to give a real reason or another understanding of the box. Are there more Amanda's? More Leightons? They could have introduced mystery of someone following him and Amanda earlier.
Arent they all the spawned Jasons OG Jasons? She got the one she got and they'll go get usurper Jasons vials of serum and make their way to the good world where OG Amanda and Leighton are 😊
I agree. That's the Most Logical ending for this story: OG Jason, Daniela, and Charlie stealing all of the vials from the storage locker, and traveling to a different world. HOWEVER, to ensure that none of the Jasons can ever follow/find them (because all the Jasons share the same intellect, emotions, desires) Daniela should pick the universe the trio travel to. And, that eliminates going to Empathy Chicago where Amanda & OG Ryan are; because OG Daniela has never been there.
Agreed. This has evolved in a pretty disappointing way. I don't give a flat $%^& about the dozens of Xerox Jasons we may (or may not) be watching. I care about OUR Jason - the dude we started following in the first episode. Now I don't know who to root for when "Jason" is on the screen.

The lack of explanation for the branches of J1 aside. Powerful episode, with the phone call thing

I agree
He literally crossed the universe to fix what he lost that's the point, the crux of the show! This is a love story with sci-fi icing.
I'm looking forward to your review on episode 9
