Been using cheap Promend pedals for about 3000kms on my road bike now, can definitely recommend them, the cleat attachment however ive already replaced 3 times.
Actually going all the way up to Dura Ace DOES lead to better pedal functionality. Dura ace uses a different internal constructions from the lower models, which improves both longevity and smoothness.

Good video mate, i've tried some aliexpress cleats but unfortunately the quality was really really bad in comparison to shimano cleats (at least the yellow ones). They fall apart after a few rides making them nigh impossible to clip in lol.
Unfortunately you are incorrect in your comparison. Weight is not the only factor when comparing these pedals. Shimano offers a significantly higher quality bearing system, often with shimano 105 and Ultegra using a dual ball bearing sleeve system - very smooth and robust. These Ali express pedals use a single steel ball bearing at the far end of the axle, and a sleeve bushing (plastic) to support the axle. This is a inefficient system causing drag and eventual play as the bushing wears. I purchased a set of titanium promend pedals and immediately disassembled to see the bearing system. I also have a pair of dura ace and Ultegra pedals - I would not recommend u less these are for a commuter bike. Even though shimano pedals are more expensive, they are significantly superior to the Chinese pedals.
I like your dry sense of humour, and practical advice.

any update on your promend pedal?
I need to weigh my pee before deciding if it is worth going for premium pedals or not.
