I am from NYC and knew of Nicki during her mixtape era. She was and is a BEAST and was “blackballed” well before radio. They are on DVDs literally saying “Nicki Minaj is a nobody. She won’t be nothing” and they refused to have her at a lot of places. This was before pop Nicki Minaj, or Pink Friday debut. They literally spite her for her talent, natural raw talent, and it’s disgusting

More comments were made like that, you have to listen to what the male hip-hop commentators who claimed to dislike Nicki during the hate train are saying because theyre noticing the difference. Also look at how they treated saweetie when she freestyled, they don't respect her as an artist and showed it in the interview. There are a lot of great artists but with all of the drama that they involve themselves in, it overshadows their music. The female rappers are good, but they don't have bars, flow, or metaphors like Nicki did. A lot of them lack creativity and can not stand toe to toe with the men like Nicki did. & The ones who could are not getting pushed by the industry. The mainstream female rappers rely on ghost writers and sympathy to get them by. They can't compare to Nicki.

I always said that labels were not paying any attention to female rappers until they started to see the kind of money Nicki began generating for herself. Labels pay attention to numbers and Nicki’s were off the chart for a female rapper. What label wouldn’t want to recreate that. !!?? You should watch the interview where azealia banks explains why the label executives wanted to break up the hold of power Nicki had on the female rap market and who was used to implement this tactic.
As always great content!! I agree that you should also talk about her experiences of being independent in her rap career. There are many songs that she made and featured in that shows her skills, dedication, and versatility and I would say at the top of my head that her second verse in Ganja Burn really sums it up (along with other songs as well like Freedom and many more for sure!! 👑👑👑). It showed how versatile rap can truly be in genres most people didn't expect you can take rap too. Not only that, but it can be done in style. Fast forward to 'The Pinkprint', Nicki Minaj has literally raised the bar AGAIN.

There was one male commentator, he's really popular in the industry, he was talking about how megan's ep wasn't good but that because of what happened with tory lanez you couldn't talk about it without being viewed as being insensitive. More comments were made like that, you have to listen to what the male hip-hop commentators who claimed to dislike Nicki during the hate train are saying because theyre noticing the difference. Also look at how they treated saweetie when she freestyled, they don't respect her as an artist and showed it in the interview. There are a lot of great artists but with all of the drama that they involve themselves in, it overshadows their music. The female rappers are good, but they don't have bars, flow, or metaphors like Nicki did. The mainstream female rappers rely on ghost writers and sympathy to get them by. They can't compare to Nicki.

I always said that labels were not paying any attention to female rappers until they started to see the kind of money Nicki began generating for herself. Labels pay attention to numbers and Nicki’s were off the chart for a female rapper. What label wouldn’t want to recreate that. !!?? You should watch the interview where azealia banks explains why the label executives wanted to break up the hold of power Nicki had on the female rap market and who was used to implement this tactic.

it's bittersweet to see the love she's getting from people who once rode the hate train, bc i was one of the barbz who stayed with her during the hate train and it's annoying that people think after literally saying disgusting shit about her they wanna "show love". The truth is Nicki is IRREPLACEABLE, no matter how much the industry tries to replace her, they will come to miss her HARD. They will want her and her craft to come back! and we see it now
