      Which makes this all the better. Doesn't require $50,000 worth of equipment. My auntie can do it in the back yard. Your critique is unjustified and misapplied.

    Quick question about flattening. Any reasons for not using the "Star" splitter?

      They are not spliting the bamboo, they just flatten it an the pieces of the bamboo is attaches to one another. If you we use star splitter, it will make a bunch of sticks detached from one another.

    The work to flatten a short section seems hard to flatten a long one most take ½ a day.
    Which is ok if all you have is time.

    Labour is not cheap, worse it's not even available to farmers. There's labour shortage. I don't know how economical these manual approaches would be ultimately. There are easily available and cheaper plastic water tanks too.
