- In this video i show you how to change the front brake discs and pads on a 1.1 Mitsubishi Colt CZ1.
The model i'm working on is a 2005 Mitsubishi Colt but all other Colts of this generation should be the same if not very similar.

Hey man, love your videos! I know this isn't the topic of the video, but I'm asking here since I thought there's a higher chance of you seeing this comment than on your older vids.
I'm contemplating getting an MX-5 (NB probably but NA would also be fine). The problem is I'm almost 2m in height. I've done some googlin' and found out there's many easy mods like changing your steering wheel or taking out foam in the seat that make this small car fit for giants like myself. However most tall people that posted or asked about this online were still about 5 cm or more shorter than me, which makes a huge difference in the mx5.
Fortunately I came across your video on tall guy mods for the NB. In the description you said you were 6'7, which means you're even 1 cm taller than me.
How do you fit in after the mods you've done? Before that you were obviously able to drive it, like you showed in your reveal video, but it seemed rather painful 😂.
I know you're using it as a track car, so comfort isn't really a big concern. I'd definitely daily drive it (not for 1h+ rides tho). So would you say that you can drive it while having enough room for legs/head?

Hi mate. Thanks for the kind words!! I wouldn't say i fit fine, it's comfortable enough but i still wouldn't have enough leg room to be able to heal and toe or anything like that. Not that i've ever had enough room in any car to do that anyway 😅
There's plenty of room though, funnily enough even with the standard seats in i never really struggled for head space. It was always leg space that was the issue, i drove a completely stock one the other day and i'll be honest i have no idea how i drove it for so long like that. Every limb was wedged against something 😂
I think at our height you'd definitely have to consider lower seats with a lower seat rail, i don't think taking the foam out of the seat would be enough and it also makes the seat really uncomfortable.
I can still drive mine for a few hours before it starts to become a bit uncomfortable, even with the slightly track focused mods i'd still be happy driving across the country.
The NB definitely has a lot more space than the NA though and there's actually a little bit of wasted space behind the seats in the NB so you can actually put the seat back an extra inch or so if you get different rails where as when the seat is all the way back in the NA it's touching the bulk head.
Hoped that's helped a little, i'll be doing a video going over all the mods i've done for extra space in a video in a week or 2. I just want to have a go at modifying the seat rail first to see if i can gain an extra few cm's

Getting a different seat is gonna be way more expensive compared to just installing new seat rails right? The latter seems like an easy, life hack kinda way to get more space. Thx for letting me know!
Honestly I don't even care that much if my legs are gonna touch stuff or if it's a little cramped. Comfort is nice and all, but it's also not that important or necessary for me. I've driven a bike through winter 2 years ago before I had my car driving license and I was fine with that.
It's not like the mx5 is a smooth riding vehicle in the first place lol. I was just concerned that I might not fit in completely head wise or that my legs would get in the way of operating the car completely.
The best way to go about this would be to just test drive one, unfortunately no one I know owns a miata. And if I will eventually try it out a used one, they're probably not changed to fit tall people. But if it's possible to somewhat drive a stock one without mods, I guess with some adjustments it would make for a suitable companion. Thanks again and looking forward to the video!
I didn’t see you open the brake fluid cap, I’ve been told I need to have it open to do this, have I been misinformed or did you just not include in the video?
You can do, it depends how full the reservoir is but it never seems to be a problem on most Japanese cars
what is the tool called that pushes the piston in?

Blimey, I wouldn't want you working on my car, and I'm not a trained mechanic. Firstly open brake fliud reservoir and monitor level when you are pushing the pistons in. Never let the caliper dangle by its hose. Get a wire brush out and clean the goddam brakes while they are stripped down, especially the pistons where they retreat into the seal. Check the sliding caliper pins move freely, if not take out, clean and regrease. Use brake cleaner on the discs, they usually have a protective coating on.

@@LeadFootash23 this Mitsu is made in the Netherlands, 60% of the parts are shared with the smart for four. So it has a lot of German / Czech parts
Mine has written 'mercedes' on most parts
