So pretty much what went wrong with sam was that he had to much hp. So storm damage is 20% of the brawlers max hp (shield gear not included in the max hp) and every tick it ads an additional 5% but because the storm damage was in percentages and because the shield gear was a set amount of health (900) it only worked for brawlers that had lower hp’s because then the shield gear took up a bigger percentage of the brawlers total health. That also explains why sam needed to heal a bit every time
...you need to heal because you lack shield gear oj. The extra health keeps you from triggering rebirth for one second, therefore allowing the juju to respawn in time. NGL you're continuously throwing matches that should be easy wins💀.
