I was hoping that you could have told us the value of the 1988 penny, with the reverse of the 1989. But thats fine too and thanks for sharing this with us
I've watched most the videos on UA-cam about the 1988 Error coins. I have a No FG and a double ear print on same coin. I did my best to reach out to you.. I'm not a collector , I'm not a pro... but I thought I'd choose you to talk to. I wasn't planning on joining a group or buying a book . If i was in any shape to donate to your cause I wouldn't have found this penny. My story is book worthy. I'm positive I'll find another coin youtuber that's easy to contact. I understand why you do what you do, and make it difficult for everyone with a question to reach out. If you answered every question you wouldn't have time to make videos. I get that. But for unique rare finds , you should consider a different route , for some one like me. Your videos are very informative. So thank you for that. Off I go - by the way my 1988 is shiny and new- almost uncirculated... take care my brother.
Rubbing it in! I love it! When keeping it real goes wrong! Most of the ME Tubers just care about themselves, their subs, views, & how much money they make on here. Most of em are fake and only care about themselves! I'm in a similar situation as you!!!
Another cool story. I've heard of several of these coins but didn't know there was a name for the category. I've been specifically looking for a no-FG for several months. I'm more excited than ever and look forward to continuing my search and looking out for other transitionals too!
I found a 1988 nmm penny and it is very odd it's thicker than normal and a slight difference in diameter has a deep lip on The edge. the lettering is odd . It's silver under neath a thin copper coating it says FG by the stairs on back . An y thoughts??
I had no idea about the transitional error on the 1988 Penny. I will definitely be keeping a close eye out for for it. thank you so much J&B for great information as always, glad to see you back you were definitely missed.
What?? Another transitional coin? I think I have several 88s I've looked at through my microscope for DDO and DDR. But have since been put in wrappers. Ill have to search them again. More great information. Glad to see you back
I did know about this transitional error on the penny, but only because of you two ;-) I have about gone blind looking for a tiny stem on a G on these darn pennies 🥴 Nothing yet, but I'm not done lookin' 😉 So glad y'all are back ❤
Fellow coin enthusiastic here, really dig your channel my man. I've found 4 2019 W quarters so far in stellar condition. Time to look for the '88 penny or at least add it to the list. Subscribed and liked!!
Hi J&B...I knew nothing about these coins before I watched this video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, and as always I appreciate it. The first chance I get I will be checking my 80's. Good day
I can’t tell you how happy this video makes me!! My husband and I argue about this all the time: “it’s not listed as a variety, so it’s nothing”. To which, I always say: “maybe I’m the first to see it!?” Ahhhhh YEEEESSSS!! 😈😎 Thank you! I’ll See you guys later tonight... I have to check my ‘88’s, and forward this video to a certain someone. LOL Thank you! 😏😉😂
I didn't know about the reverse Strong FG error. I just broke out about a 50-pound sack of pennies that I had for years. I started sorting them into jars by decade about ten years ago ... 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s ... with a category for wheat pennies. This past week I started weighing them to sort out 1982 and 1983 copper. I'm specifically looking for a 1982-D small date and any 1983 in copper. So far I've found several, about ten 1982 copper pennies which is not unusual since the transition to copper-clad zinc began mid-year. And that's only about five handfuls of pennies I've checked so far. Now I have more errors to look for. Many of these pennies were taken out of circulation the year they were made so many are in very good condition. This is getting exciting! Now I have the time to go through them. Who knows ... I might find something crazy cool in there.
I often wonder how many coins I sent back when I didn't know better crh. Lol Your video should remind us all to weigh our coins. Takes more time, but I feel better knowing I went through them with out second guessing. Thanks J and B! Another really informative video.
I have done a few penny box hunts and have looked for the FG translational error. With varying condition of the ones I compare mostly looking for the series. Thanks J&B! I love your informative videos!👍
I did know about this actually. I have a whole bag of 1988's and 1989's to check for this variety. Maybe ill do that tonight during the stream. Thank you J&B!
I knew about the 1988 and 1989 pennies. I've yet to find these error coins, but I'll definitely keep looking. Thanks for your knowledge. And the quarter and half info is awesome. 😎
Sold a complete set, of all 7 "P" varieties, a few years ago. Still have a few, including an unlisted variety, all found while CRH. Never found a "D". At one point, I was finding them, at an average rate of 1 in every 10,000 cents searched. It's been almost a year, since I found my last one, searching 2500 a week.
I had no idea the 1988 was a transitional penny. Thankyou so much. I will get to looking for a new variety. I have butterflies just thinking about it. LOL
Okay, somebody help me out. Maybe I'm a little slow today. So, someone please pause the video at 8:48 ish. I have questions. The pic on the left is a normal 1988, correct? And the picture on the right is a normal 1989. So, wouldn't a 1989 that looks like the pic on the left be the transitional error we're looking for? We're looking for a 1988 with the reverse of a 1989? Wouldn't it make more sense that a 1989 would mistakenly have the reverse of a 1988?
I had no idea this was an error. I got about 15 rolls the other day in a box of customer wrapped rolls that were someones '80's collection. I WILL be going through those soon. Thank you for the info.
Awesome explanation!😯specifically to us..newbies! 🤗After coming across this video again..I watched it. I love learning something new. I believe it's been approximately a year now since I dropped my obsession with rocks!😄 This was definitely Greek to me..but with good info I just jotted d ok wn..just wanna say I appreciate coming across knowledgeable and honest folk like I watch on another UA-cam channel! water initially appear to be Greek To Me by watching these videos and I also look forward to see two looking at the beginning videos so I may educate myself some more. Thanks for sharing!! #stilllearnin@60sumthin🙄
NO, I did NOT know about this variety. Oddly, I am searching 10 rolls of pennies RIGHT NOW (the only good finds were 1 2009 and a 1942 Canadian) Still, lots of fun and now I need to look closer.
Enjoying the live coin roll hunt tonight if you're not here you're missing some of the best finds in coins this week mite not get a chance to see again best places to be on a Friday night 👍👍keep your 👀 open for more videos every week and always happy hunting

I think I have one of these. I found in an old piece of furniture a bunch of coins, when they all appear they have value. I'm in STL Missouri, if you could guide me with whom I should go through this area, I'll appreciate it
I just went through my 1988 and 1989 piggy banks. I'll have to go back through them again. I'm sure I noticed a few that were different but thought it was normal. I looked it up on the error list I have and didn't find anything. LOL!
I so want to find a 65 quarter on a silver planchette! Wow never really thought about that Kennedy transition from 64 to 65 both being silver but different amounts! I could see how that could be missed. I didn’t know about that penny variety.
I was hoping that you could have told us the value of the 1988 penny, with the reverse of the 1989. But thats fine too and thanks for sharing this with us
I had never heard of this transition before. Thanks for teaching me something new as always!

Another cool story. I've heard of several of these coins but didn't know there was a name for the category. I've been specifically looking for a no-FG for several months. I'm more excited than ever and look forward to continuing my search and looking out for other transitionals too!
I check the initials on all my 88's thanks to you J&B and I'm always checking for AM varieties.
I'd like to learn more about the AM varieties. I'm not sure what to look for, i.e., when the transition is an error.
I found a 1988 nmm penny and it is very odd it's thicker than normal and a slight difference in diameter has a deep lip on The edge. the lettering is odd . It's silver under neath a thin copper coating it says FG by the stairs on back . An y thoughts??
Transitionals are some of the best finds! Although mine are usually pretty dingy and scratched up, that's my luck lol, love peace and chicken grease!
I had no idea about the transitional error on the 1988 Penny. I will definitely be keeping a close eye out for for it. thank you so much J&B for great information as always, glad to see you back you were definitely missed.
