I remember coming off the school bus to see a brand new black RS4 Cabriolet sitting in my driveway and I couldn’t believe it. I grew up in one of these and got to buy it off my dad just last year. This thing is never leaving my family it’s just too special.
@malcolmn.5222 I agree. I would push the range forward from 2005 - 2020. That captures the crazy German saloons, then the refinement of those cars, plus the holy trinity and other hyper cars. Now its gone nuts.
They don't look like current models, they look better, exterior wise. Interior is where you see the age, but i personally don't like new interiors anyways
Just drove mine around town, it still gets looks and people rolling down windows to hear the sound. Mine is mint and i just had it detailed before storage, so it was extra pretty!!!!
Best specced B7. Cloth buckets, mirrors, flat bottom steering wheel, carbon inlays, RNS-E, black headliner, daytona wagon. It has all the checkboxes ticked. Love it :)
I also love these 'Rise and drive' videos. Dan is so good at explaining why these cars are so good. Along with Harris and Catchpole, they show the rest how to be a journalist, rather than a UA-camr! I'd love to see everyday affordable stuff like Mini Coopers, Mx5's, early Civic type R's and Pumas. Anyway, top stuff Dan, 👍👍
Also don’t forget Steve Sutcliffe or Jason Camissa. Also, Carlos Lago. I even enjoy Johnny Lieberman (although if I am being honest, he is no where near as good as the others). Oh of course, Harry Metcalfe. Anyways, all of them are good journalists are excellent.
Still have mine 2006 saloon from new. As soon as I drove it knew it was a keeper 😀 Miltek exhaust really let's that V8 shout. Want to be buried in it. Oh and it's only done 17k 😁😁😁
I first fell in love with fast audi wagons when I saw one pull away at full chat. I was a kid on a bmx delivering newspapers. I now own the exact model and colour of car that blew my mind all those years ago, My daytona grey 436ps mrc stage 2 b7 avant is my pride and joy and its here to stay for a while. Worked my way through almost 30 cars before I finally got one. It was worth the wait.
Excellent vid that really captures the magic of the RS4, it’s not the last word in handling or speed but it is more than capable of bringing a smile to your face on a good flowing twisty road. As an a modern (ish) all rounder not many other cars come close to ticking all the boxes the b7 does. Love the Rs4 to r8 transition too, very clever. More please
If you check the number plate, this is the EXACT R8 Jeremy Clarkson reviewed over a decade ago on Top Gear. Crazy how mint it still is and how fast time flies!
Both of them are heritage Audi press cars. Carwow use that B7 in their drag races and a few UA-cam channels have used it for reviews in the last few years too
Same!!!!! bought mine new, now it has 37k miles. I bought an M2 that I can have fun with so the RS4 can relax and go for drives a few times per year :)
Change cars regularly and wanted something newer. Had Golf R’s and other Audi RS models since, but none as engaging as the RS4. It was a thirsty beast but worth every penny spent on fuel.
What an unexpected video! I was about 13/14 years old when I met the B7 RS4 and it blew my mind...i think I like it even more today! What about the R8? Well...there is no need to add anything about the original R8. Just glorious. Amazing video!
I am loving my RS4 Cabriolet B7 since 18 years. I will never sell him because meanwhile this car is a main part of our family and my live 🤗🤗🤗🤗. After Germany, France and Austria we stay now in Poland...👍👍
Great vid - beautifully filmed in fantastic scenery on superb roads. And two epic cars make it all the better. I’ve had my B7 Avant for 8 years now and can’t bring myself to part with it. It just does everything so well, and it’s much more engaging than my daily driver (340i estate). The B7 RS4 is the end of an era.
I had the good fortune that a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to share the sedan version of this car at a track event that he was to attend. I had lots of fun that day, especially since I didn’t have to worry/pay for the tires or the brake pads for a change 😉! Funny that the RS4 was spec’d with better seats than the R8 🤣!
sorry for your loss bro !!! I'll go out and rip it up in mine today thinking how insane u are for selling the b7 omg never love my baby sooooooo much esp all blacked out sweeeeeeet whip bro :-) you can see her on my UA-cam page :-)
Another cracking vid Dan. I need to get off my arse and get our for a few early drives before the summer is over. I love the B7 RS4; it just still looks right. Chunky enough not to look like a boggo A4 but a long way from the super aggressive, slightly OTT designs of the modern RS cars. That engine makes a glorious noise. The original R8 is still the best looking version too with each subsequent one getting fussier and fussier. They look so much better inside though with the RS4 style wing back seats.
My epic dream car! Dan, a few misses otherwise 👍👍 2:16 For instance the four-wheel drive has a Torsen centre differential 2:50 You left the rear fog lights on 4:32 what a big deal that 40:60 torque split Torsen differential it was 6:25 It's an all-alloy naturally aspirated flat-plane crankshaft V8
What a truly well put together vlog..... a fitting tribute to an absolutely stunning car..... that estate is a family car with supecar performance...... perfect compromise I would say..... on my list of cars to get.....
These since their introduction have been the two Audi’s that I always wanted to drive and very luckily I in the space of a year a got drive the saloon version of the RS on road and an R8 manual on track, As you said they both have a sense of connection and fluidity that’s the most memorable part of the driving experience.Oh! apart from that engine which I personally think is the greatest loss to the Audi empire ever!
The Bullitt suspension package is not too dissimilar to a GT with Performance Pack. The night and day differences you cite between Bullitt would be over a base GT
I was thinking to make the jump from a EP3 Type R to the RS4, but reliability issues make me doubt, accostumed to a car that never gave me problems in 17 years.
Aside from the engines having a habit of coking up (early direct injection problems) - they are very reliable motors. Would be quite a different driving experience from your EP3 though. Much quicker in a straight line no doubt but much heavier and arguable less fun on a back road.
I had the type R in Milano red and traded it off for an S4 b7. Huge difference in straight line and acceleration but there is nothing the CTR to give everyday track car feeling and nimbleness and vtech scream
of course it's quicker. RS4 is about 1s faster from 0-100kmh. There is absolutely no comparison between these two cars, chassis or engine wise. RS4 has FSI engine. Whole car from the ground up was built by Quattro g.m.b.h (today's Audi Sport), while the S4 was made in Audi factories, like A4's.
I had the S4 in RS blue and did all the stage 1 and 2 modifications to keep up with an RS4. The RS4 might only be 70 hp more but the engine and suspension is another level.
Great video. I would love to have one of these manual V8 R8s, however I can’t get past the fact that I have to give Bojo £600 a year in VED. This is why I would rather spend the money on a post 2017 car.
Everything being described about Audi understeer is exactly as I experienced in my B6 A4 with the PD130 engine.. It handles 8/10ths driving very well, it has a great trail brake turn in and if you're patient enough it can exit corners well (skinny 205s). The worst thing about the handling was how it was impossible to get more than a moment of a loose rear end before you're back to neutral steering again.
Great video, nice cinematography and image quality but you drove an r8 for a consistent half of it. And that's a shame because it only lasts 10 minutes.
I remember coming off the school bus to see a brand new black RS4 Cabriolet sitting in my driveway and I couldn’t believe it. I grew up in one of these and got to buy it off my dad just last year. This thing is never leaving my family it’s just too special.
dope love it keep it forever !!! b7 rs4 for life love my baby
Completely agree with him 1995-2010 golden for performance cars. Since then it’s all about the numbers, if you at it it’s progression tho
I get your point, but I think it’s just very convenient for filming. There are much better roads in Wales.
Great point
It’s all numbers and ultimately pointless
If you think there havent been great sports cars since 2010 then you have clearly put blinders on
@malcolmn.5222 I agree. I would push the range forward from 2005 - 2020. That captures the crazy German saloons, then the refinement of those cars, plus the holy trinity and other hyper cars. Now its gone nuts.
I mean the RS2 and the S4 were released before 1995. But yes, great era.
My favourite car :)
Am I the only one who thinks that this is the pinnacle of Audi RS?
Hell yes Had to buy one 2vyrs ago kw v3 coils going on her this weekend sooooo pumped :-)
RS2 is more interesting, but yes the B7 RS4 is great.
@@mediocreman2 Ooh... I do like the RS2. I get the impression the B7 would be more fun to drive though- novelty aside, that is.
Can't believe how "old" these Audis are; they look like current models. Fantastic design.
They don't look like current models, they look better, exterior wise. Interior is where you see the age, but i personally don't like new interiors anyways
But the interiors are solid. No other brand wears age and mikes as well on the inside
Just drove mine around town, it still gets looks and people rolling down windows to hear the sound. Mine is mint and i just had it detailed before storage, so it was extra pretty!!!!
I love those Rise and Drive videos, it's what I feel when I say that I love driving
Don't forget Richard Meaden, probably my favorite automotive journalist. Although he doesn't do much on UA-cam
I had a B7 saloon for 8 years and 40k miles. Replaced it with one of the very last E92 M3s but I still miss it every single day. What a machine.
What you miss daily is the sound of the RS4 high revving flat-plane vs the M3 smoother cross-plane crankshaft.
Still have mine 2006 saloon from new. As soon as I drove it knew it was a keeper 😀 Miltek exhaust really let's that V8 shout. Want to be buried in it. Oh and it's only done 17k 😁😁😁
Drive it some more!
Yes enjoy it bro lol 17 k miles in 15 years lol, this epic car deserves to be driven and not kept as a garage queen 👍🏻
Drive it more mine has 110,000 on it
wow thats amazing
wowwww can we see it ? :)
I first fell in love with fast audi wagons when I saw one pull away at full chat. I was a kid on a bmx delivering newspapers.

This video is my kind of mindfulness, beautiful scenery, a golden sunrise and high revving V8 👌
do your car a favour and drive her more:)
Excellent vid that really captures the magic of the RS4, it’s not the last word in handling or speed but it is more than capable of bringing a smile to your face on a good flowing twisty road. it checks all the boxes my famous words !!! 🤪 doesn't it tho love my b7 rs4 omg
If you check the number plate, this is the EXACT R8 Jeremy Clarkson reviewed over a decade ago on Top Gear. Crazy how mint it still is and how fast time flies!
Both of them are heritage Audi press cars. Carwow use that B7 in their drag races and a few UA-cam channels have used it for reviews in the last few years too
👏👏👏
Audi press fleet
5:49 that’s when I realized the transition. What a throwback! Amazing work.
I wish we would could go back 15 years
Before TikTok. Yes please
I love my rs4 more than any other car i had. Never selling it!
Same!!!!! bought mine new, now it has 37k miles. I bought an M2 that I can have fun with so the RS4 can relax and go for drives a few times per year :)
Rise & Drive videos are sensational! And that transition into the R8 was brilliant 😂
Sad that every car won’t have any character left as we move on into the new era
Still miss my B7 RS4 Daytona saloon. This video reminds me why. Brilliant 👍🏼
Why u sold it?
Expensive to run especially now they are getting on for 16 years old
Change cars regularly and wanted something newer.
I love the shots from the camera mounted on the exterior of the car. Videography is perfect.
I’m on my 4th and in merlin purple with ceramic brakes. This one is a keeper and always an avant
That B4560 is an awesome road
I am loving my RS4 Cabriolet B7 since 18 years. I will never sell him because meanwhile this car is a main part of our family and my live 🤗🤗🤗🤗. After Germany, France and Austria we stay now in Poland...👍👍
Insane production quality, loved this!
What an amazing video. Loved it. Just got a B7 myself and can't wait to do a rise and drive myself.
agreed summer soon winter storage
This man made me to love B7 even more
I always love a b7 rs4... since day one
cause Your smart
I'm a sucker for the B9 but the B7 might be the best looking estate ever.
I’ve had my B7 Avant for 11 years now and can’t bring myself to part with it. :)
Okay u caught me there rs4 to r8 ....love that edit
Extremely good quality Audi video 😍
Love these Rise and Drives - next best thing to bring there! Great stuff Dan and team, keep them coming please!!
Such an underrated channel, fantastic presenting and my god this car is peak Audi
Adore these rise and drive videos too. That engine is a masterpiece, but the timing chain can be a problem if not checked.
Fantastic piece Dan and Team.
This video made me take my B7 RS4 out for a drive through the canyons lol. Thanks for this great video!
Dido :-)
Manual V8 R8 is my attainable dream car
Another awesome feature, makes me miss my B7! Keep them coming
sorry for your loss bro !!! I'll go out and rip it up in mine today thinking how insane u are for selling the b7 omg never love my baby sooooooo much esp all blacked out sweeeeeeet whip bro :-) you can see her on my UA-cam page :-)
Really clever piece this, nicely done.
Great episode, cool to see some of these slightly older, more interesting cars in many ways. Thanks
rs4 for life what a machine love my gal!!!!
This video is brilliant and this guy is brilliant at this. Absolutely brilliant maybe after my s3 8p I can get a b7 rs4
That’s the goal 😉
I'm a sucker for transitions like that. Bravo!
Great video! come on google algorithm, push this to pistonheads all over the world!
These will be worth big money in 10 years when we can bring them to the states
They are already very expensive considering the age they are now.
Wait weren't the rs2 and sport quattro seen as drivers cars?
Best looking Audi Avant IMO.
Agreed
Another great video from Dan
My epic dream car!
Dan, a few misses otherwise 👍👍
2:16 For instance the four-wheel drive has a Torsen centre differential
2:50 You left the rear fog lights on
4:32 what a big deal that 40:60 torque split Torsen differential it was
6:25 It's an all-alloy naturally aspirated flat-plane crankshaft V8
Both dream garage cars
What a truly well put together vlog..... a fitting tribute to an absolutely stunning car..... that estate is a family car with supecar performance...... perfect compromise I would say..... on my list of cars to get.....
00-10 audis really are something else. i want one of all of them
first time watching video from this chanel, but i LOVE that camera is outside in front of windshield, amaizing!
I had one.... and was genuinely gutted when it left the garage.
@NCB.. +1. . The same here. . A gut punch to the stomach when there gone. . Fond memories our MY96 Audi UrS6 Kombi ...
First time watching this channel. Excellent video! Happily became a new sub.
My very favorite Audi..💯👏👏
Beautiful intro...
9:07 it what driving is all about for me too.
Does anyone know which road he is driving on? 👋🏼
Anyone know where exactly/which road this is in South Wales? (Thanks!)
The RS4's seats are much more suited on that comfy R8. Looks like they mixed the seats
I have never wanted something more in my life- it will not be satisfied till I own one.
Somebody loves driving... really nice vid.
The Bullitt suspension package is not too dissimilar to a GT with Performance Pack. The night and day differences you cite between Bullitt would be over a base GT
Awesome vid
Dan’s name needs to be in the title for these videos.
The b7 S4 and RS4 😮💨
A lovely nod to the top gear episode where Clarkson woke up early and drove to south wales in his CLK63 Black series
I love the R8 :)
I guess he forgot about the quattros and the RS2!
R8 engine also has different Pistons and different block with 2 extra drillings
I'd buy this Audi over any current model other than the R8
+1. .. 3 Cheers to automotive journalist Dan what's his face! .. Subscribed. .. Gotta Luv a quick saloon!👍👍
Whats the music you used in the begging???
Great video. Surely time to do a comparison with the C63 and M3?
Wonder if the B7 came here to Australia 🤔
I’m hoping that corner can turn an old 525d into an M5 (F90). Would happily settle for an RS4 though. Time to set the alarm.
Anyone know what road this is?
Keep that left hand on the wheel haha
Yes EV vehicles are super quick, but I’ll take an 8 cylinder roar paired with 6spd manual oh yes with a Quattro system!!!!

Own both :-)
Love them both. Great video
But is the RS4 seriously quicker than a B7 S4 point to point?
of course it's quicker.

I have a manual 2005 B7 S4 4.2l V8 and the VED is ‘only’ c£300pa. If it was a 2006 it’d be £600!
Someone, somewhere has this has a two car garage.....oh to dream
Servicing in the ceramic breaks is a deal breaker
Audi is the bomb 💣 🙌 esp b7 rs4
Where is S Wales is this please?
Any chance of an 981 cayman S in this series……
Ah my current car and potentially next car. Ill never understand why the RS4 has better seats though and why they didnt put them in the R8..?
Everything being described about Audi understeer is exactly as I experienced in my B6 A4 with the PD130 engine..
It handles 8/10ths driving very well, it has a great trail brake turn in and if you're patient enough it can exit corners well (skinny 205s).
The worst thing about the handling was how it was impossible to get more than a moment of a loose rear end before you're back to neutral steering again.
Now do the same video for E46 M3. I can lend you mine for a video
Great video, nice cinematography and image quality but you drove an r8 for a consistent half of it. And that's a shame because it only lasts 10 minutes.
Chris Martin !!!
Serious opinion guys the fair fucks some owners do to make these the fastest B7
Amazing! Please do it with a C63 W204!
RS4 Porn. Thank you 🙏🏼
