  • Greetings, recruits! Since we all couldn't be in Orlando for MIB's 20th Anniversary on Tuesday, April 14th 2020, I had an online celebration instead -- in the form of an informal online livestream Q&A! We had a great turnout of over 100 people on Facebook, with questions coming from both Facebook & Twitter.

I've been going to Universal Studios in Orlando for about 18 years now and I have to say, this is my favorite ride! Out of everything Universal has to offer, this ride just changed the game in terms of fun and re-ride ability. Every time I ride this attraction, it feels like a new experience not just with the new score I get, but with the little things I notice. Nowadays on the ride I always find myself looking behind me on the ride vehicle just to notice all the little things. Thank you so much to Dave and the whole creative team for creating my favorite Universal Attraction! May it last another 20 years!

Fantastic livestream and Q&A. I watched part live and part recorded.
Coincidence that I happened to be midway through Jerry Green's Universal 25 year book. Some of your stories echo his about attractions and their zig zag development at Universal Hollywood.

What an amazing insight into an iconic and unique attraction, but people with passion about what they did. Fabulous details, looking forward to more deeper dives into aspects of the attraction from Dave‘ media/asset collection. Thank you. Wish I’d seen it earlier

Thank you all for making this amazing ride. I can't ride it anymore due to the spinning in relation to my age but I love to do this with my family and cherish the memories.

So sad i missed this live stream because of different time zones. VERY cool insights, looking really forward to content from your archive! Being a theme park audio nerd i´d also would love to know more about who provided the voices for aliens, the pre-show announcer (is that Corey Burton doing an education-VO "impression"?), the "Training Sequence aborted" computer voice, etc. Another question regarding the music: Did the legal rights for using existing soundtrack cues change in past few years? Because during my last visit the original Danny Elfman theme was playing before the cars enter the unload? Stay safe, y´all!

It never had any of Elfman's music anywhere in the ride, including the load station. That, and all of the music in the ride and preshow, were composed by Andy Garfield.
Voice-wise, we had a few different people. Rodger Bumpass (aka Squidward) is the voice of the "Doofus & Do-Right" educational video. Chris Edgerly (who is the voice of Spider-Man next door at IOA) did the Coach alien in one of the endings, as well as the Wormy Guy in the break room (and I am the voice of the non-speaking one who just says "mmm-hmmm" in response to him). Michael Winslow of "Police Academy" fame did many of the ride's aliens, but a lot of them are stock animal/creature noises that were heavily modified in the mix. The "Training Sequence Aborted" was a local Orlando actor, but I forget her name. I'm also the voice of the "Ow, quit it" alien wearing a space suit in the Times Square scene, and the Tailor alien at the end ("It'll be ready next Wednesday!")

Yup! I'll be there next Wed 14th and Sat 17th, meeting up with the MIB 900 club (a Facebook fan club, check 'em out, fun folks). My main goal is to drink my way around the park, since it's the attraction's 21st birthday ;)

      - I can do an interview, but I don't work for Universal anymore and therefore don't represent them. I've done many, many articles and podcasts already, which you can find here: campsite.bio/davecobb
      - The soundtrack has never been officially released, but you can find bits of it here on UA-cam.
      - I wrote and creative directed the entire attraction, including the media -- the actual film shoot with Will Smith and Rip Torn was directed by a wonderful commercial director named Linda Hassani
      - There are many graphic designers on a project like this -- scenic signage, architectural signage, marketing, logos, merchandise, etc. etc. -- too many to name.
      - The score was composed by the amazing Andy Garfield: www.pachinkomedia.com
