Then to get everything registered at the government office, the staff whom don't speak English either. It's messy. Are you really opposed to just renting a car? Because I know that is possible, and a few people visiting do that (mainly from India I think 😅). I can try and ask an Egyptian friend if they know anything about buying cars (where, how, etc.), but honestly none of my friends have cars, so they might not know much anyway. Congratulations for your success in achieving this difficult goal ,, I'm glad for you and feel releaved a bit ,, And hope for you a nice stay and safe return ,
Enjoy Siwa-it and Cairo are among my favourite places on Earth. It's in a bit of trouble, I think, with the pace of change and growth-Siwans can feel overrun by the Egyptian influx-but still a very special place. Long may it last.
I did! I'm on a road trip which I announced in this video ua-cam.com/video/z-wGz5PPUVk/v-deo.html Since then I have been stopping in cities like Alexandria, Alamein, and Marsa Matruh; exploring, filming, and eating. It's been amazing, I'm so happy! 😍
I always carry cat food in my backpack in Cairo too. But literally have no room on this road trip, my backpack is stuffed with all my clothing and camera gear. Even if I had brought cat food with me, I would have run out the first day in Alexandria 😅 But happy to hear you feed the cats too ❤️🥰🙏
@Gventures I feed cats dogs birds and I have on my window🐦🕊 water and down home for🐈🐕 I am sure you do because cats and dogs come close you feel safe with you 😊 ❤️
Awesome video! I'm planning a car trip through Egypt and was wondering if you happen to know if this route is feasible or has any restrictions (like military / government closures): Cairo → Alexandria → Siwa → Bahariya → Farafra → Dakhla → Kharga → Aswan, or the reverse starting from Aswan. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Yeah, big problem with that route! The road you see on the maps from Siwa to Bahariya is not working, that has been closed for years. So there is only one road to Siwa, as I mentioned in this video. You must take the road from Marsa Matruh to go in or out of Siwa. Which means you will be making a long trip around to get south after Siwa, essentially retracing your steps back to Cairo from Siwa, and then head south. I may also be wrong about this, but you need special permissions to enter the Black and White Desert, you can't just roll through there alone, which is why so many people take tours there, just in case that is what you were thinking about. As far as the rest of the trip is concerned....I can't really speak to the rest of the places you are thinking about stopping in. I followed close to the Nile when I rode south to Abu Simbel from Cairo 2 years ago. But looks like a fun route, I just don't know about the roads at all. Also, be aware there are a lot of police checkpoints in Egypt as well, so you may or may not pick up a police escort on your travels. I did 2 years ago, but haven't had any issues on this trip to Siwa so far. If you haven't heard much about the police escorts, you can watch my journey south 2 years ago starting with this episode: ua-cam.com/video/bxlb_SEie2I/v-deo.html I pretty much pick up a police escort right away, and was then stuck dealing with them off and on (a lot of on) for the rest of my journey. But road trips in Egypt are awesome, I encourage you to do it, even if you have to possibly change your route a bit.
Little late to catch u. Bt it ws so interesting to travel with u. So much that i feel backpain as if i ws on d bike. Rest well n hv fun ..b safe . Cu soon in details of siwa roaming around❤❤❤
1st I hope you are now enjoying Siwa. 2ndly you've got some balls young lady :))) I am native and I would never try to go there by bike, cause I imagine how my back would hurt from 7 hours of riding like that :D :D :kudos Finally, I understand that you don't like to deal with police checkpoints, and yes, sometimes they will be extra suspicious, but I assure you, they went through hell to preserve safety that's all, they are no there to harass or hackle, you're an unfamiliar face to them which usually is why they would need to know who you are.....being straightforward with them helps them a lot. I hope you're enjoying your trip by now
Thanks Phoenix! I am enjoying Siwa, it's my second time here in the oasis, but my first time with motorcycle, and absolutely love exploring on my own with the bike! 😍🏍️ I actually have traveled around a bit with my motorcycle in the last 3 years I have been living here, and unfortunately I must say the police do harass you a bit sometimes. Generally they don't, and they are respectful and just doing their jobs, but I did get harassed a bit or witnessed some unprofessional behavior from a few officers when I rode my motorcycle from Cairo to Abu Simbel two years ago. I was stopped A LOT on that trip and many times forced to have a police escort, which was very frustrating, but most of the police were kind and we joked around at the checkpoints and things were fine. But a few times I was told I needed to give my phone number to an officer so they could check on me and make sure I arrived safely to the next city, and later I was messaged by those officers on Whatsapp with things like "Good morning beautiful 🌸☀️" and things like that. So...not always is it harassment free. But anyways, I've talked about that a lot in past comments when I was on that road trip, so I won't talk any more about it here. Just acknowledging that I know they are just doing their jobs and ensuring the safety of the foreigner in their country, but sometimes they do act unprofessionally, and an unwanted police escort is unpleasant. But I got lucky and didn't have to deal with any of them on my way to Siwa, which I am very grateful for! 😁🎉
@@Gventures Wow, I am sorry to hear about that, but he should be disciplined :( I know sadly most people want to avoid the headache which sadly would leave similar type of idiots like him go unpunished :S :S
Please do not think about entering Libya. I do not advise you to do so at all. I currently reside in Libya and the situation for unveiled women is difficult. It is very difficult to pass through the desert roads. There are human traffickers and many other things.@@Gventures
Siwa locals are amazing people and also they grow some of the best dates/olives...etc, I would want a better infrastructure to be able to visit them and vice versa, isolation is not a good spirit for a country.
Well, the isolation and remoteness of this oasis is part of the reason it is so special and different, in my opinion. It has remained untouched for so long that it has been untainted by the influences of the outside world
Yo G! Hope you are doing super awesome out there! So I was looking at a place to go to, to get away and edit this documentary, I was thinking Cairo! Like leave in a few days, anywho I am looking for a local spot to rent for the week while there if you can direct me by chance, be cool if near the Giza pyramids if possible. Just need a chill spot if possible lol!
Do you need internet? Because most places don't have good internet. You can get a big mobile data package and hotspot from your phone though. Unfortunately, people don't rent things for just a week. I mean, renting is pretty long term in Egypt; usually a year, maybe 6 months, mayyybbeeee 3 months. The options for just a week would be a hotel, and airbnb, or a hostel.
@ thanks a bunch I found an Airbnb right near the the pyramids for a great price! I’ll be staying there 8-22nd shoot me any pointers if ya like I’ll mostly be editing but will have plenty free time, gonna go out and film and what not low key! I’ll share with you the link for Airbnb if ya wanna see the area I am in, seems alright but what do I know
Gigi, these were military police check points not for civilians, also I am sure you are aware but it's worth mentioning that taking photos or videos of military facilities or government buildings is considered illegal so careful there, loving your videos and you are a really brave soul.
Well my camera was just recording and I was busy driving. Wasn't intentionally filming them, I'm filming my journey. Also, I have other trips with police in them, plenty, actually. Because I was stopped at all kinds of police checkpoints on my way from Cairo to Abu Simbel 2 years ago. They saw my camera in those videos and didn't say anything. Again, don't care about them, just documenting my journey.
@@dilach41 Guess so. I've never been made to delete stuff, and I've been stopped many times while filming. I always try to be very friendly though, and make lots of jokes and get people laughing.
Honestly, it's never comfortable riding this bike for long periods of time. I don't know how it would compare to another bike because all I have ever ridden are Benellis with low cc. I just take a lot of breaks, get off and stretch, take some photos, change batteries, etc. I'm happy traveling on this bike, but I'm not going to say it's the most comfortable bike in the world for it. But again, I don't have experience riding something else. For me, it's fine. The more comfortable bikes get very heavy and very expensive very quickly.
So many things had to align, had to whisper yes, for this journey to move forward. At so many turns, it teetered on the edge of stillness, a single dot trembling against the vast horizon. Nothing but a point, and yet sometimes that’s all we’re given-just a point, distant and faint. Hope, they call it. We fixed our eyes on it, though it stayed maddeningly still, unyielding in its sameness. Hope doesn’t sway or surge like we do. No, it is steady, almost indifferent, while we climb and fall, gasp and stumble, as if trying to shake it awake. Hope is quiet, almost cruel in its monotony. And yet it is everything. Perhaps many caravans had faltered here, their bones scattered under the weight of sand and sun. Perhaps others had known its secret, the way to its heart. An oasis-life rising from the desert’s cruelty, a promise so rare it seemed unreal. What history breathed here? What hands had dipped into its waters, what mouths had whispered its name? Was it real at all, or just a story the desperate cling to when their throats are dry? Who could say? But there you are, step after step, walking like the ancients, chasing something unseen … What is there? Tell us, show us!
Oh you like writing poetry! That is very beautiful and imaginative, thank you for sharing Hilal. I too, enjoy writing 🥰 There's a voice in the canyon that lies dormant. I know where she waits and the power she holds, she will rise like a sandstorm when I go to meet her. As I race across these desert roads, the beast in me bellows, savage and fiercely happy in it's freedom. There needs to be no poison nor wine, no darkness nor pain for my words to bleed onto these pages. All the tired years in a haze, like a lost ship in the fog, but here I can let my words set sail under clear star filled skies or burning blue days, milky way in the sky like the swelling Nile gives me a thousand stories and a million new paths, I only must choose one for there to be more. My sword is my tongue and my ship is my bike, new opportunities spinning under me with every turn of the wheel and I feel this strength, the power of the sun on my face, the decisions I make firm and unapologetic. Finally, I have climbed over this wall and stand like a queen, master of my life.
I’m no good at writing, not by a long stretch. But thank you for saying that-it’s kind of you. What you’ve put down, though-that’s something else entirely. It’s the kind of thing that makes a person stop breathing for a moment, just to take it all in. I can only hope there’s a book waiting at the end of all your journeys, some map of words tracing where you’ve been. “There needs to be no poison or darkness nor pain for my words to bleed onto these pages.” Those words of yours-they spun my head around, left me feeling dizzy in the best possible way. Please, keep sharing. The world needs it. And take care out there.
@@HilalShaath No don't say that, you definitely are! That's pure poetry and I recognized it as soon as I started reading. The beauty of poetry is expressing our emotions, our thoughts, our ideas; past future and present, and taking our readers with us. It is done in different ways and comes out in different fashions by different people and even within ourselves, depending on our mood while writing. I loved it. You keep writing! And I will try to write more too. I rarely take time for it these days, only when I feel a great urge to release something do I pick up the pen. I should make more time for it. And you keep sharing too. It takes courage to reveal so much of ourselves through poetry, the inner workings of our brains, our fears or desires. It is a vulnerable thing, to write and share it. Much love and respect ❤

Edit: Oh and I totally forgot to thank you for donating! I got carried away with the car response 😅 Thanks so much man, I really do appreciate it, it's very generous. I'm just happy you are watching! But of course, I won't say no to a donation either 😅 I appreciate it 🙏

the good thing you drove it to Siwa during the day. This road is pitch black after sunset.
Oh I always ride during the day for this exact reason. And the fact that it is colder. And alone as a woman at night isn't preferable. Actually, even a man alone at night is not preferable. Just night is not preferable 🤣
@@Gventures you're right. I'd never do it alone. It's a unique adventure though.

Enjoy Siwa-it and Cairo are among my favourite places on Earth. It's in a bit of trouble, I think, with the pace of change and growth-Siwans can feel overrun by the Egyptian influx-but still a very special place. Long may it last.

Amazing
I am surprised, did you go to Siwa Oasis by motorcycle ??!!
Siwa Oasis is more than 550 km away from Cairo.
I wish you always safety and a good time.
I did! I'm on a road trip which I announced in this video
ua-cam.com/video/z-wGz5PPUVk/v-deo.html
Since then I have been stopping in cities like Alexandria, Alamein, and Marsa Matruh; exploring, filming, and eating. It's been amazing, I'm so happy! 😍
Love it
Hi❤
I love the cats .. always I have small bottle dry food for it 😂
I always carry cat food in my backpack in Cairo too. But literally have no room on this road trip, my backpack is stuffed with all my clothing and camera gear. Even if I had brought cat food with me, I would have run out the first day in Alexandria 😅 But happy to hear you feed the cats too ❤️🥰🙏

If you haven't heard much about the police escorts, you can watch my journey south 2 years ago starting with this episode:
ua-cam.com/video/bxlb_SEie2I/v-deo.html
I pretty much pick up a police escort right away, and was then stuck dealing with them off and on (a lot of on) for the rest of my journey.
Thank you Archanapal8072!! 🙏🙏

1st I hope you are now enjoying Siwa.
2ndly you've got some balls young lady :))) I am native and I would never try to go there by bike, cause I imagine how my back would hurt from 7 hours of riding like that :D :D :kudos
Finally, I understand that you don't like to deal with police checkpoints, and yes, sometimes they will be extra suspicious, but I assure you, they went through hell to preserve safety that's all, they are no there to harass or hackle, you're an unfamiliar face to them which usually is why they would need to know who you are.....being straightforward with them helps them a lot.
I hope you're enjoying your trip by now
Thanks Phoenix! I am enjoying Siwa, it's my second time here in the oasis, but my first time with motorcycle, and absolutely love exploring on my own with the bike! 😍🏍️
I actually have traveled around a bit with my motorcycle in the last 3 years I have been living here, and unfortunately I must say the police do harass you a bit sometimes.

Why you not trying to go lybia
From matrouh to visit benghazi what i heared its safe
Its kind of big adventure 🚴
Visa is very difficult to get. And I have to work soon
Please do not think about entering Libya. I do not advise you to do so at all. I currently reside in Libya and the situation for unveiled women is difficult. It is very difficult to pass through the desert roads. There are human traffickers and many other things.@@Gventures
you remeber me during army times 1984 at siwa my regard

@@Gventures You are lucky. They have checked my footage a few times and made me delete some stuff.

How did put up with sitting on the bike for that long? Wasn't it tough? and Do u recommend this bike for traveling ?
Honestly, it's never comfortable riding this bike for long periods of time. I don't know how it would compare to another bike because all I have ever ridden are Benellis with low cc. I just take a lot of breaks, get off and stretch, take some photos, change batteries, etc. I'm happy traveling on this bike, but I'm not going to say it's the most comfortable bike in the world for it. But again, I don't have experience riding something else. For me, it's fine. The more comfortable bikes get very heavy and very expensive very quickly.
😊👏👏👏👏

But there you are, step after step, walking like the ancients, chasing something unseen …
What is there? Tell us, show us!
Oh you like writing poetry! That is very beautiful and imaginative, thank you for sharing Hilal. I too, enjoy writing 🥰
There's a voice in the canyon that lies dormant.
