I have read a few of the comments, and I see just how many people still don't get it. A lot of the comments are saying people love winners. I can assure you that if KC came in 10th, 90% of the supporters would still be in the stands. When KC was losing, we continued to have the most supporters, and there was not one KC pass student who was afraid to wear his colors and show public support for his school. Unless you have a child, brother, or close relative who goes to the school, it's challenging to understand how this institution has positively impacted the lives of poor young men. KC was built for poor young men; take notice, all the other boy schools are above the hero's circle. Looking at the young men that come in each year and for the 5 or 7 years they spend there, just how the school changes their lives. Many, many of the old boys will tell you if it wasn't for KC, they don't know where they would be. And the very few that leave with 2 or 3 subjects have the never-yielding mindset that they will find a way to turn their lives. I visit the school, and I see the faces of many of these Youths, kids that society would cast out as criminals because of just how they look, coming from the deep inner city. But upon leaving KC and seeing them through university, it's a fantastic transformation. The females are primarily mothers of KC students, present and past, and wives of KC old boys. They are the one who keeps giving to the school. They are pleased with the outcome of their sons, and the wives are super happy with the wonderful husband they have inherited. 5:39
As a KC alumni class of 91, I believe that the school has built a rich culture in sports and academics over the years, and no matter what, win or lose, we support Fortis. I reside outside of Jamaica and there's an Old boy Association in Toronto, that's active for the past 50 years and I support it wholeheartedly. Other schools can create the same culture that KC has, in order to lift up their school and by extention the country at large. Fortis 💜 forever!!!
Other schools produce students, Wolmers produce Jamaican ambassadors. There’s a special respect for KC because KC was the bypass to the colorism Wolmers showed in early years. As a Wolmers Old Boy, I have to respect KC for that. Many of Jamaica’s talents were diverted to KC because of this colour prejudice leading to a lasting legacy.
As a KC past student you have no idea how the alumni has made my journey easier. Even my text books were loan/rented to me. I never bought a text book in my entire high school life and I was never out of any. Thanks for the system that was put in place to facilitate my needs just to be at school. For that I take it as my responsibility to give back to the KC in anyway I can. As a patriot of Jamaica, I definitely will choose to give back to my school much quicker than for my country simply because I have seen the results of KC’s system but I’ve yet to see the results of the government’s to people like me and other who needed them. # 1 college. Fortis is a lifestyle.
I had transferred to Calabar as I got a track scholarship and my principal at Titchfield was making the move there as well. When I went to Calabar it was night and day. Titchfield is my forever love and it took me attending Calabar for 2 years to make me fall in love with Titchfield all over again.
i believe the people are seeing where the money is going hence the reason why they are donating...when they give to the country corrupt leaders take it for themselves.
As a Wolmerian, i endorse EVERYTHING YOU SAID MAVERICK. KC just DIFFERENT YOW. Big up TO DAVE MYRIE. He's the one who made Wolmer's Boys' what it is today. I am happy he is at KC making a difference.
These females are mothers, wives, daughters, female teachers and parents of teachers who decide to put their resources towards that institution rather than share it around
Maverick , anybody associated with KC are proud people . I left KC in 96 and I still have my school tie and emblem .KC alumni, even myself is all about excellence and working towards success. This is something the institution instill in the current and past students.
It's not necessarily so oral. You have to understand that there are wives, daughters, etc, that are not affiliated with local schools but are living overseas and in a position to help their favorite school.
As a member of the 96 class, my heart still beats purple till this day. However I'm not as eccentric as a lot of Fortis Nation members. During my tenure of 7 yrs we never won champs but the vibes and support was awesome. My younger brother and my son attended KC. So the tradition lives on Fortis4eva
Mr Maverick , please please leave KC alone , schooling begins at home but your education and preparation for the world starts at schools . The support of the KC old boys associations are excellent in providing assistance to ALL aspects of the school programs . The motto says it all , the brave May fall but will never yield , what an embodied belief to inspire on a young upcoming future for the Jamaican society.
Maverick, my nephew went to KC my sister and i ofter ask what they teaches them there, when i tell you the pride he had for that purple and white tie was indescribable..My sisters house got painted in purple and that alone tells you something..RIP Rick we continues to let purplereign💜🤍💜
Some of these women probably have children, husbands, and other family members that attend or once attended the school, hence the support. I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with that. Besides, people pick and choose what is worth investing in.
Congrats KC! The irony to all this KC Cult talk is that I'm a proud STATHS graduate who was well prepared to enter the job market as an engineering apprentice straight out of high school. This is by no means a slight to the academic standards of high schools such as KC. I would hasten to add that like the vast majority of school age boys, I grew up dreaming of attending KC due to its reputation and appeal even back in my days. My brother, a proud KC alum, is quick to show off his original copy of Sports Illustration featured story titled "LAND OF SPRINTERS AND DREAMERS". KC's allure and mystique will never fade.
" The brave may fall but never yield" is a more believeable statement than " Out of many, one people" Actions speak louder than word and the actions of some (too many) public sector workers of this country have shown ppl to invest where they know their money and efforts will go directly to benefiting the people it was intended for. @@OralTraceyMaverick the reason you say it’s a dumb analogy it’s because I’m taking YOUR reasoning to its logical conclusion. KC is a cult. Welcome to supremacy 101.😂 I’m not a KC Allum but I respect how they support each other over the years. Trust me I wish my alma mater had just 1% of KC old boys energy; we would be a better institution for it. Na call no name.
I went 90-95 weeks didn’t win champs….big up Davian Clarke. No Manning Cup only Cricket and School Challenge Quiz but the love and support was still there Fortis 4 Life
To understand the love we have for our school, you would have had to attend the school. Walked through the gates of clovelley and entered the hallowed halls of the school and be part of the greatest school family known to man. Untill you have experienced that, you will lack the understanding of why we are the way we are, why our battle cry, will always be Fortis!!!!
It’s really weird that ppl hate the school without looking at the history of the school, I am not a pass student but I am a big supporter. This school was built to give inter city boys a chance to grow into a family, to love and respect each other, Jamaican need to take a page out of these guys book
Well said mi Gena. Before there was a KC only brown man yutes coulda go a di existing boys school. Remember: KC was a SOCIAL EXPERIMENT that was not expected to be successful. LOOK AT IT NOW. FORTIS FOREVER 💜 🤍
These people love their schools because their schools are winning. Is Jamaica winning? Are our politicians winners? Would they care enough to use money and services given wisely?
Agreed. I've always noticed the strong support for KC and a few others and believe that Jamaica would succeed in sports outside of track n field if they get strong support. I also agree with you on the wagonist attitude. Ppl love to b associated with winners even over their own school and will support when the school is already winning.
A which school Maverick did go? Your school no mention... Serious now...European football is a cult then... We are a small country. In North America people follow their universities with the same zeal. Look at March Madness in basketball.
The most accurate comment you made was the last part.. champs is boring without the KC CALABAR rivalry.. thats so true.. the stadium was empty Saturday.. CALABAR needs to hurry up and find back their winning form.. the coach needs to go he cant be coaching two top champs chasing school hydel and CALABAR!! It was obvious he was more focused on hydel retaining their title than CALABAR winning champs.
Mav. 1) It’s not all KC past students help the school. 80/20 rule. Some just show up fi ray, ray inna dem colors when wi a win. 2) Being one of the top traditional Boy Schools in what would be called the ghetto, our product has been spectacular. Scholastically and otherwise over the past 99 yrs. That’s why many have come back to pay forward. We remember where we were, as a schoolaz. 3) Yes, we are proud, and unapologetically a true brotherhood. 3) The ladies issue is something I can relate to. My Mom had children in JC, Immaculate, and Merl Grove at the same time. She gravitated to the KC family. Throughout her life, her fav color was purple. It’s just a ting ! I can’t explain it but to say, people gravitate to goodness n progress.
Oral you hit the nail squarely on the head. This is why they had to join Girls and Boys Champs. Every year Girls champs got little or no support, but stadium full every year for Boys champs with female spectators. One wonders how competitive champs would be if that level of support was spread across to the other schools😮😮
Maverick, I believe you got this one very wrong. KC & Bar Old Boys should be the deacon for the government and country. KC, Bar and other institutes are the perfect examples of investing into its people, and reaping the benefits. If the government who represents the country, doesn't invest into its people, and focus on foreign investors, then naturally, there will be reservations for commitment. It's a no brainier.
I think all past students should try to be a part of their former school alumni or past student group. In doing so they can help to support their schools in various ventures not just sports.
Maverick very great take…….u wld have to go to KC to understand …….and I will tell u, each KC person have it all compartmentalized, and the support both ways is a microcosm of dealing with life…….n true brother/sisterhood ……KC is a facet of Jamaica that is very inspiring like it or not 😊
Let me like this video before I even watch it. I so look forward to your videos every day! That don't mean that I share your opinion on all of them! Thanks for doing an important job - the most credible news 🙏
This is the thing!! Old boys have a sense of loyalty to their skl bec they know what the skl would have done for them. Hence the reason they always give back. On the flip slide, a man would be more reluctant to give money to a country bec the first question is gonna be “what the country ever do for them?”
It's not just Jamaica. Chelsea football club always had loyal supporters, but when they started doing well they gained thousands more supporters, not from that side of London, not even from England. People call them "glory hunters" its a natural phenomenon and then they spend big-money on shirts , tickets etc. Sponsors do the same thing. In fact, you look at any big international track meet. You think that all those people waving Jamaican flags are in any way Jamaican? They are not, but they will buy the t-shirts wave the flags and even visit the island. I speak as a proud Raven (Saint Jago High School graduate )who was outside of the country the first time won boys champs, but was sending telegrams to the school and having big celebrations in London. Respect to KC and their supporters.
Most people don't seem to want to or have the patience to start from scratch. They don't seem to like getting behind "work in progress". Its more of a follow the hype thing. Anything to gain relevance and spotlight
You started out with a critique of KC and Calabar by mid way into the end, all u talk bout is KC... Your bias is obvious! KC past students do contribute to nation building...KC is no cult... KC is a culture... And all u can spew is jealousy... "Gang up on KC" Really dude???
Fada Oral you did affi guh deh fi understand the loyalty, rest a school dem just nuh have dem type a loyalty yah. You know sey a KC Mek other school alumnus have pride inna dem school.
Jamaica is very rich. Money, just not circulating, how it should, for the overall development for the economy. The thieving politicians, is the culprit for that.look at Jamaica, housing market. It's definitely booming.Jamaica should be moving towards first world status now.
Surely it is clear that supporting your Jamaican school is also a tangible and direct support to Jamaica as a whole. The analogy of those non-KC alumni suporting KC to that of a parent providing greater support to a neighbour's child than their own, though rather endearing is really quite absurd. Bottom line is that alumni and non-alumni passionately support KC because something in their experience with KC caused a positive emotional connection with them.
All I will say is "Thank God" for Bishop Gibson, Douglas Forrest, all the Teachers, Old Boys and supporters. Franklin Town born and raised. Kingston College 1956 - 1962. By the way, I still have my tie which I wore in 1962. FORTIS FOREVER
It speaks to the Power and allure of KC ! The other schools need to research it! And Jamaica’s Leadership needs to do the same! Sir ! You need to see how they help persons from KC who are in the doldrums! I applaud them! The rest must go and learn! #Lovesign
Sir oral even though you have some valid points .. Speaking as a past student of KC you have to understand the KC culture to correction speak about KC.. remember KC was born out of need, the need to give poor Yutes the opportunity to make the best out of every kid that walks through those gates hence the need for every past student giving back because they have benefited in some way shape or form .. as for the females ,their sons , husband, brothers , adopted kids have attended KC so they have no choice plus people live winners ..
Mr. Tracey , I totally agree with you 100%. But it goes deeper than just a school at this point. Its more of a culture and prestige. However for you to the comparison of a neighbor child to yours or we should drop a love for a school because we are adults it no holding any values for me

We are going to paint JA purple 😂😂KC to the world
Possible they are parents of KC students. Like me. My son went to KC n I will suport KC until the end of time.😂😂
WELL SAID @marciabrown8330
I’ll put my brothers over country on any given day. I came from extreme poverty and when I look at the doors opened for me by them, it is only right.
KC is a cult. Welcome to supremacy 101.😂
I’m not a KC Allum but I respect how they support each other over the years. Trust me I wish my alma mater had just 1% of KC old boys energy; we would be a better institution for it. Na call no name.
I went 90-95 weeks didn’t win champs….big up Davian Clarke. No Manning Cup only Cricket and School Challenge Quiz but the love and support was still there Fortis 4 Life
Yo BOLLO DREAAD THIS U
To understand the love we have for our school, you would have had to attend the school. Walked through the gates of clovelley and entered the hallowed halls of the school and be part of the greatest school family known to man. Untill you have experienced that, you will lack the understanding of why we are the way we are, why our battle cry, will always be Fortis!!!!
I agree with everything you say. So many Jamaican adults are operating at a young child's level.
Calabar old boy here , this is true
As a KC old boy, half my wealth in life will go to KC when I am old. And not apologising or debating anyone about it!!! My blood is purple, 💜
That's it @dayne9559.5d and you have no APOLOGY IDA.😂
It’s really weird that ppl hate the school without looking at the history of the school, I am not a pass student but I am a big supporter. This school was built to give inter city boys a chance to grow into a family, to love and respect each other, Jamaican need to take a page out of these guys book
Well said mi Gena. Before there was a KC only brown man yutes coulda go a di existing boys school. Remember: KC was a SOCIAL EXPERIMENT that was not expected to be successful. LOOK AT IT NOW. FORTIS FOREVER 💜 🤍
Everyone loves a winner ~ wagonist is right!
These people love their schools because their schools are winning. Is Jamaica winning? Are our politicians winners? Would they care enough to use money and services given wisely?
And Jamaica wasn’t winning in Beijing or London ?
I went to Champs every year from 1985 to 1992 as school boy, we did not win until 2001 and I rarely miss Champs
no we love Kingston College win or lose. Hands down best all boys school in the Caribbean
@@BigcrooksPlease read again and try to understand what this person is implying. It's not about sports only.
Agreed. I've always noticed the strong support for KC and a few others and believe that Jamaica would succeed in sports outside of track n field if they get strong support. I also agree with you on the wagonist attitude. Ppl love to b associated with winners even over their own school and will support when the school is already winning.
Everyone likes a winner 🥇
Everyone likes effort, everyone didn’t start where they are now
Remember that
A which school Maverick did go? Your school no mention...
Serious now...European football is a cult then... We are a small country. In North America people follow their universities with the same zeal. Look at March Madness in basketball.
Forever Fortis 💜💜💜💜💜. It’s a lifestyle 💜💜💜💜🙏
This is so true. I always support there alumni functions in Atlanta.
Helping your school is helping your country
Jamaicans love thier political parties during election, Brazil during world cup, KC n Calabar in Champs more than how them love Jamaica
Re the female support to KC. People support winners
No, you give back to what has given to you. If KC past students want to give to their school let them do it...
The KC people are in the world doing great things. Thank you Champs would not be champs without KC, Cbar
I agree with everything you said about these grown adults in schools champs. Not grown up in there mind
3:55 " me never go KC ", wow that was obvious 😂😂😂.
You will never understand the Power of 2A North Street mr. Mavrick. It's just a Fortis thing.
Most if not all of those females are either Moms, sisters, wives or other relatives of a KC student
I think all past students should try to be a part of their former school alumni or past student group. In doing so they can help to support their schools in various ventures not just sports.
People give what they want to who they want. Leave the people them alone. Hope you doing something for your school.
Oral, the female support can be from the mothers who's children attended the school.
@Ash-kx8us I concur.
Maverick very great take…….u wld have to go to KC to understand …….and I will tell u, each KC person have it all compartmentalized, and the support both ways is a microcosm of dealing with life…….n true brother/sisterhood ……KC is a facet of Jamaica that is very inspiring like it or not 😊
Tell him @paulwaynereggae.3dago
Let me like this video before I even watch it. I so look forward to your videos every day! That don't mean that I share your opinion on all of them! Thanks for doing an important job - the most credible news 🙏
I thought it was weird to like the videos before watching it but that's my habit to do everytime😅
Jamaicans love winners maverick that it
Make the principal for KC/ C-Bar run the country and not Conju and you'll see the country in a better place
😂
Dwl conju
Haven’t we seen enough of Principals going into Politics?
Agree@sleepy8819.5dago. All of a sudden it was all about KC. It says something on his part.Him clearly have SERIOUS ISSUES.
Why you love Liverpool? What about Harbour View or Boy's Town?
Oral sometimes the woman them that support kc and Calabar they had a brother or a son use to attend the school I have experience of that situation
Stop badmind the thing Maverick 😁
Maverick, please allow me to unravel the mystery surrounding Kingston College, for you: The Most Reverend Bishop Perceval Gibson.
Fada Oral you did affi guh deh fi understand the loyalty, rest a school dem just nuh have dem type a loyalty yah. You know sey a KC Mek other school alumnus have pride inna dem school.
KC is the #1 school in the world
I💜 KC
By contributing to KC, we are in fact also contributing to the country.
Schools that have one gender money and love of sports will win the most
Jamaica is very rich. Money, just not circulating, how it should, for the overall development for the economy. The thieving politicians, is the culprit for that.look at Jamaica, housing market. It's definitely booming.Jamaica should be moving towards first world status now.
Understand it for real Maverick. Real waggons country.
You never talk a better truth right now mi cant belive how kc old boys
True word!!
Purple blood 💜 fi life🎉😂 we female fan base HUGE 💜
Totally agree with you 1000%
Surely it is clear that supporting your Jamaican school is also a tangible and direct support to Jamaica as a whole.
Maverick - U sound grudgeful and bad mind
It speaks to the Power and allure of KC ! The other schools need to research it! And Jamaica’s Leadership needs to do the same!
Sir ! You need to see how they help persons from KC who are in the doldrums! I applaud them! The rest must go and learn!
#Lovesign
Wi nuh want no calm next year, Oral.
KC to di wurl!!
I move on past divorcement but FORTIS 4 LIFE.
Mr. Tracey , I totally agree with you 100%. But it goes deeper than just a school at this point. Its more of a culture and prestige. However for you to the comparison of a neighbor child to yours or we should drop a love for a school because we are adults it no holding any values for me
