It is in a state of chronic skirmishes & probing moves, small salients getting occupied & exchanged that doesn't do any good to either side. Already this (kind of) war is on. Instead of actual ground situation, it can only be supplemented by or won in 'propaganda'.
Both sides will want to (unsuccessfully) wear out the otheside and non-military (diplomatic) moves coming to the fore slowly. Both sides will want to come to the negotaiting table after moving into a position of strength, through war (or a number of battles).

When I see numbers like 10.000 artillery pieces I always wonder in what percentage can they be realistically used (meaning: manned and resuplied) and how does this percentage drops or increases in time. Even an average of 10% artillery pieces used at a time is a huge number to resuply man and coordinate.
Unit sizes exist, using 1,000 pieces is quite simple in terms of the fact theyre divvied up in whatever way suits your nations fancy, batteries, regiments, whatever, all artillery pieces have a limit to firing that maintains the barrel life

Furthermore, the Pakistanis did not lie about their F-16 count. The Pentagon confirmed the count was correct. So either India shot down a JF-17 or India did not shoot down anything. Since you are saying that that India has evidence of F-16 involvement and not JF-17 involvement, it is more likely that India shot down nothing.

As an Indian myself, I believe this is a fairly accurate representation as per the current situation. Of course there are many other factors which matters including ground commanders on both side, weather etc etc. We do need to improve our forces though. People who keep talking about Brahmos as the ultimate weapon do not really understand what the weapon actually is and its role. It may give as an edge in battles but not win us a whole war. As an Indian I don’t want India to fight a war with China. India needs to focus its attention on many of its internal problems. War shouldn’t be a priority. India will gain nothing out of it. It won’t even get international support or sympathy. We should try to make our cities cleaner and more liveable, less polluted, improve civic amenities. Indians have a poor image internationally, we should try to correct that. Merely raising jingoistic slogans or chest thumping will not make us great. A nation does not become great because it has a big army or a big balance of payment. It becomes great by virtue of its ability to solve its problems without depending too much on outside help. At least China has solved its problems by its own efforts and sacrifices made by its people. May be there is less democracy there but at least it is not a beggarly nation.

Historically China and India has always been two mega economical powerhouses with relatively weak military to defend themselves against foreign invasions.
