What a very articulate man Corky Laing is, and a completely natural narrator. Did he ever write a book? You just know he has a million fascinating tales, some about music, and some about other subject matter. He lived to talk about it. Unfortunately, so many others didn't.
Great interview Corky! I grew up as a young kid in the 70’s with my older brother cranking Mountain on his stereo..I was fortunate to have had this great foundation of music..Thank you for all the great music that filled my soul
What an honor to be able to watch this interview with Corky. Mountain's music has remained a staple in my life. This band is epic, iconic. Their music is timeless. Always fresh. Never grows old.
Yes, but Mark is a... 0:00 hahaha Maybe Corky should have interviewed Mark--hahaha. Also... At 2:12 Nomad doesn't even mention Steve Knight!!! Who, incidentally was a Huge Part in the shaping of the Mountain Style & Sound! *R.i.P. Pappalardi & Knight.
Please let him speak. The host freaking interrupting... American radio live thing. Most in yt just wan't to hear the guest speak when clicking the video. I imagine it's the same on broadcast. Graham Norton can do it. The people you are interviewing can do it. ffs shut up and let them speak. If Graham Norton can do it so can you and keep your career. Sorry got really angry and drunk in different order or something
Corky keeps talking about the whole experience as though his contribution to it were irrelevant. Nothing could be further from the truth. It was a great chemistry.
Great interview, and great interviewer! TY Corky for all you gave to Mountain, W, B, & L, and a lifetime of great music. Loose, hot, and fun brother. God Bless. I saw you guys here in NY at Forest Hills, Commack Arena, and at the Woodstock 30th anniversary. You've never missed a beat!
I saw that mountain performance on PBS i am guessing first time time i saw rock music played live. Up until then it was only on the radio or records. Still one of the greatest things i ever saw. Mountain retains a warm spot in my heart for sure.
Vanilla Fudge was another band that had that great chemistry between Italian and Jewish guys working together to create phenomenal music with a big sound and I'm sure there were others---but VF and Mountain are very good examples of that
In 1982 or 83 I worked a Mountain show in Salisbury Beach, Mass. I remember Corky showed up with a broken foot and had a huge cast on it. He still kicked ass.
as a drummer, corky laing has taught me how to play drums by watching some of his drum styles and drum beats on videos I have watched of him playing over the years, and he is the best damn drummer in my book! he has an awesome personality and i could listen the stories of his life all day long. he has some great interviews to see on youtube! I love watching him play and bouncing his sticks off of his cymbals for his audiences to keep as souvenirs! and i laugh my ass off because after all the video's I have seen, and all the years that Lesley west and him have been playing together, that Lesley west has never been able to catch one of his drumsticks on the first couple three time's of corky laing bouncing them right in his hand, and the look on corky face is saying w.t.f.?come on Lesley, catch the damn thing!
When I seen new mountain.. corky was bouncing sticks.. now we are in a 400 person club.. I hold my hand up so Corky would shoot me one.. he shot me the finger.. I shot it back then he bounced me a stick... kool cat😎
The guy's annoying, yeah. But, this is still a great interview. Corky Laing is a very interesting guy and one of the most powerful drummers I ever saw. I got a couple of Mountain stories.
Frustrating interview. Corky seems like the most patient, nicest guy in the world with AMAZING stories to tell, but the interviewer ... won't needs to let him speak without interrupting.
bluepeng I agree, but I can also say “It’s a musician thing.” You can tell he really digs Corky. Like the old days, I think they still get caught up. With musicians it’s like the hottest chick in the world can be there just ready to fuck and two musicians start talking shop, they’ll forget she exists, til they stop talking anyway. They are after all musicians! LOL.
Quite right. There's a song and then there is jamming. Hendrix had some songs, but a lot more jamming. Technical brilliance is no substitute for a song.
Anybody remember when Corky used to launch his sticks off the cymbals into the audience ? I lost the ones I collected somewhere along the way, damn it. They had his name imprinted on them.
I sure do. Mountain/Black Sabbath Oct. 1970 IIRC. Houston, Sam Houston Colluseum. Mountain blew Sabbath back across the pond. Corky had a spare floor tom. It's purpose was to hold sticks. There was a roadie constantly keeping it filled. And will never forget how small the LP Junior looked rolling from side to side on Leslie's belly..wow
Fantastic interview , the interviewer is NOT at all annyoing. These Mountain guys are quick witted, nice chaps. Talk to the point. I love the interviews with Laing and West.
There's so many PBS shows that should be re released, hopefully they were archived? I'd heard in the day that video tape was expensive and sadly recorded over once the show was aired😢
The interviewer does listen to Corky ... when he's not busy thinking so much about what he's going to say next that by the time he says it it's not quite in sync with the conversation.
Corky comes off great here, except where he says Leslie should be jealous of the fact that he (Corky) can walk, lol. In fairness, the interviewer was like rushing him, I don't think he was able to fully express whatever thought he was trying to get out there. Mountain rules, West, Bruce & Laing are rad too!
Mark thinks he's the most important part of the interview. He's not. Hey Mark, shut up and let the guest speak! I couldn't take it anymore. I left after a couple minutes. What a shame.
Spend 90% of your money on drugs & women & waste the other 10%🤣🤣🤣 I'm surprised this guy was able to shut his trap long enough to let Lang get this joke out.🤬😡
you decided .... ? you sure about that ... i didn't here peter barons name mentioned here ...lol who did start this up ...you lie .but love you anyway ... glad you took my lead ... jesus ..talk about chopped liver ...lol ...K2 THE MOUNTAIN ... how quick we forget
Mark just an FYI ..... nobody gives a shit what the interviewer's opinion is ... let the fellow being interviewed talk !! Your job is to simply listen. :) Then ask another broad question; then listen again.
I love Mountain & Leslie West. I love Cream & Jack Bruce. Don't care for Anything from the West, Bruce & Laing catalog. This guy is right, no chemistry.
What a very articulate man Corky Laing is, and a completely natural narrator. Did he ever write a book? You just know he has a million fascinating tales, some about music, and some about other subject matter. He lived to talk about it. Unfortunately, so many others didn't.
Corky is so cool !!! ...great drummer ..great man !!! ...it's up to you sir to keep the musical ledgend (mountain) alive ...music and stories !!
Dude,, please let Corky finish a sentence, PLEASE 🥺 !!
@@lloydrobeau5126 ...lol....yes , nomad kept cutting him off ...a little annoying I must admit .
Great interview Corky! I grew up as a young kid in the 70’s with my older brother cranking Mountain on his stereo..I was fortunate to have had this great foundation of music..Thank you for all the great music that filled my soul

... ditto.
Gentleman . Long Live Corky Laing !
12 - 23 - 20
R.I.P Leslie West at 75 years
mark nomad interviews mark nomad and on and on and on...
Let him talk Mark...every time Corky starts to say something interesting, you open your mouth.
*R.i.P. Pappalardi & Knight.
he slams drums with packed emotions but his atmosphere seems modest and gentle
I agree, the guy is a terrible interviewer.
Really, this guy is a dope
Corcky is such a great musician to interview.
*Corky;...
Corky keeps talking about the whole experience as though his contribution to it were irrelevant. Nothing could be further from the truth. It was a great chemistry.
Alan Handleman ...very unassuming ... Mountain Climbing ...my group ...
THIS IS a GREAT interview...love Corky's and the interviewers energy ..on MOUNTAIN in 2017~! Cant get enuff MOUNTAIN stories!!! My favorite band!

Shut it dude! Let Corky talk!
Great interview. Good to see Mountain getting the credit they deserve.
Great interview, love that band.
PLEASE let Corky talk!!!!! LMFAO
In 1982 or 83 I worked a Mountain show in Salisbury Beach, Mass. I remember Corky showed up with a broken foot and had a huge cast on it. He still kicked ass.
Corky is a guy I’d love to hang with. He’s great, but unassuming.
Shut up and let Corky speak!

Saw them twice.
A guy working at Music City got hit by a Corky Laing stick.
We thought he was lucky.
When I seen new mountain.. corky was bouncing sticks.. now we are in a 400 person club.. I hold my hand up so Corky would shoot me one.. he shot me the finger.. I shot it back then he bounced me a stick... kool cat😎
Wow, Corky is really an eloquent speaker
Corky is quite an affable guy.I love Mountain.I didn't know West lost a leg..What a shame!
Let Corky talk
The guy's annoying, yeah.
But, this is still a great interview. Corky Laing is a very interesting guy and one of the most powerful drummers I ever saw.
I got a couple of Mountain stories.
Great GREAT! TO HHEAR THIS. SO COOL
Brilliant.

@@Loridae nailed it. This has actually happened thousands of times.
Agree, I want to hear Corky.
agreed totally..interviewer wouldnt shut up
Agreed 100% × Endless Multiplications!!!.
I keep FIRMLY feeling to shout at this interviewer, Mark Nomad:
"SH*T U*!!!".
Quite right. There's a song and then there is jamming. Hendrix had some songs, but a lot more jamming. Technical brilliance is no substitute for a song.

I would like to discuss then talks non stop lol .
Mountian - one of my favourite rock bands. Almost as good as Mountain.
There's so many PBS shows that should be re released, hopefully they were archived? I'd heard in the day that video tape was expensive and sadly recorded over once the show was aired😢
"Corky Laing of Mountian Interviewed by Mark Nomad". Theres something wrong here. Only this guy Nomad speaks.
I just listened to ‘pollution women’. My favorite
What I would give to have one of them explain and explore how they put that song together. 🤘🤘🤘✌️👍🎸
Saw Leslie West in Houston (front row), he played with his boots off set to the side.
How about a link to the PBS show.
Who's the interviewer and who's the interviewee here..?
Saw West Bruce & Laing at the Capital Theater in Passaic NJ. Lost my hearing for 2 weeks from a tympanic membrane hemorrhage.
Saw them at the Performing Arts Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 18th, 1972. Leslie West played a Dan Armstrong clear lucite guitar.
Corky is a mensch! Kool Kat.
I know that old lady! She works at the Farmers Market in my village. Just F'ing with ya Corky!
Have to agree the interviewer is quite annoying but at least it's a great interview with the legend
Felix rarely got the recognition for his musical genius. Corky is honest here.
The interviewer does listen to Corky ... when he's not busy thinking so much about what he's going to say next that by the time he says it it's not quite in sync with the conversation.
Corkey is the MAN Welder 553
Fascinating stuff. Really nice, smart guy. The interviewer does talk too much and interrupts too much.
Corky, What ever happened to all the Sunn amps?
Corky comes off great here, except where he says Leslie should be jealous of the fact that he (Corky) can walk, lol. In fairness, the interviewer was like rushing him, I don't think he was able to fully express whatever thought he was trying to get out there. Mountain rules, West, Bruce & Laing are rad too!
Mark, for God's sake shut the hell up and quit interrupting!!
We don't care if you agree with Corky, Zip-It 🤐
Mark thinks he's the most important part of the interview. He's not. Hey Mark, shut up and let the guest speak! I couldn't take it anymore. I left after a couple minutes. What a shame.
Mark is one hell of a Guitiar player from the 70s on up
*Guitar;...
Spend 90% of your money on drugs & women & waste the other 10%🤣🤣🤣 I'm surprised this guy was able to shut his trap long enough to let Lang get this joke out.🤬😡
It would have been nice to let Corky talk a little more.
MARK SHUT UP...MOUNTIAN????
Who is the interviewer and who is the interviewee???? 5 min question, 1 minute answer. "Mountain Climbing & Interview Crying" C'mon!!!!
oh my Christ let Corky speak... Annoying interviewer indeed.
Thrive the cat a chance to speak
this guy is not an interviewer..talks too much
Dude stop talking over your guest!
DR WHO.Circa 1968-73
haha .. they spend 90 % of their money on drugs and women and the rest of the money , they waisted.. haha
Loved that
The interviewer destroys the whole thing, shut up and let your guest talk.I can't enjoy this.
This Mark Nomad is lousy
Odell is a little less than articulate.
you decided .... ? you sure about that ... i didn't here peter barons name mentioned here ...lol who did start this up ...you lie .but love you anyway ... glad you took my lead ... jesus ..talk about chopped liver ...lol ...K2 THE MOUNTAIN ... how quick we forget
I really wish I could listen to Corky's entire points! This irritating. I love you Mark but please calm the F down!
