I enjoyed Leshnoff's Double Concerto on Reference with Manfred Honeck & Pittsburgh. Speaking of American composers on Naxos, I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on the William Grant Still series. Some absolutely wonderful stuff in there, I think.
Congrats on the overflow room. Wow! Regarding Leshnoff’s Of Thee I Sing, I thought it was a successful piece. But it brought to mind Norman Corwin and Bernard Herrmann. If they were around today, I wonder what unifying American music they might create.
I have a problem with these commemorative works of, especially, man caused disasters. Nothing can dispel the odor of exploitation in them, no matter how evident the "intentions are well meant." I exclude some fine works like Hovhaness' Mt. St. Helens Symphony or Gavin Bryars' Sinking of the Titanic (in any case, he waited some 60 years after the fact.) But I'll definitely order this disc for the concerto.

I was remembering that piece too. I think Dave reviewed it on a coupling with Tchaikovsky.
I like Leshnoff. His recent piano concerto is fabulous.
David, how do you like Leshnoff's Piano Concerto? I've enjoyed it repeatedly.

Ha e you discussed Lowell Liebermann?
