I want to make one for a Christmas journal I am making for a friend, but haven't the slightest clue how to either engineer or reverse engineer it!
Wonderful video but I'm having trouble with my strut. You say to make it same height as side of box. Check. Make it double thickness. Check. Attach it to lid so top is parallel to lid edge and far enough to the right not to cross the fold in the lid. Check. But you don't say how far down to tape it on the lid. It does not appear to be flush with anything at the bottom. Looks like it hangs over maybe a quarter inch. I've tried just about everything, varying how high/low to tape it, and how far right/left to put it (without going over the fold). Nothing works. :( Either the lid hits it when I fold flat to tape or it tapes okay b ut then has too much tension and pulls apart. Any help would be greatly appreciated as to exactly where the strut is attached.
