この曲は 歳を重ねてくる程 心に沁みます。
「ロビンソン」というタイトルは、草野正宗さんが旅先のタイで見かけた雑貨屋さんの名前だそうですよ。歌詞とは何ら関係ないけど、曲作りしている時にふと思い出してそのまま曲名になったそうです。

歌詞の意味はどうとでも好きに解釈していいから何とも明言してないみたいです。
爽やかな歌で急に棄てられて呼吸を止めない猫がでて来たときは不思議でした。
I think his voice has the power to make you feel "natural". Every time I hear his song, I think of the beautiful sky, the sunshine, and the grass fluttering in the wind.
By the way, the meaning of the kanji of Mr. Kusano’s family name who is a vocalist, is "草grass 野field". He may have the attributes as the name implies.

While Dreams Come True may be my favorite Japanese band (possibly favorite band anywhere), Spitz was the first Japanese band I ever heard. Please listen to “Cherry” and “Sora Mo Toberu Hazu”. They are amazing! They are the first two Japanese songs I ever heard.

You're right about the title "Robinson" that they took from a department store in Thai. It's been said in their interview, they also said that it was a tentative title at first.
In adittion, the lyrics of the Spitz's songs can be interpreted in so many different ways actually. Masamune Kusano, the vocalist and composed the songs, said "it's up to the listners" and has never explained about the lyrics to anyone, even to the band's members. So you can interpret the song in any ways :)

i'd personally say the lyrics are not about the lover committing suicide and the protagonist deciding to kill himself later. i think it's him proposing the idea of a suicide pact, which is why his lover gets shocked when he talks to them and then they fly the skies together

The title "Robinson" comes from the novel "Robinson Crusoe" by British novelist Daniel Defoe.
There is a part in the lyrics that says "a country of only two of us that nobody can disturb."
This feeling of "loneliness but fulfillment" is in common with Robinson Crusoe's travelogue on a deserted island.
Image of "Robinson" is used as a metaphor for two people who are happily isolated.

Sorry, the song's title Robinson is not from the novel. This is from department store's name which he found during his travel. He said about this in the interview, so title does'nt relate to song at all.

この曲が流行ってた頃に友達が自殺しました。なので忘れられない曲です。
この曲はバンドを続ける上でそろそろヒットを出さないと、とマサムネさんが正月休み返上で作った曲だそう。
ご本人は地味な曲で、今でもなぜヒットしたかわからないと良く発言しています。
誰も触れない2人だけの国=
大切なスピッツというバンド
宇宙の風にのる=自分達の曲が衛星の電波によりラジオ、テレビでON AIRされる、
といったイメージもある
とのことです。
マサムネさん自身は曲の解説をするのは好まれず、聞く人の解釈を尊重するスタンスですが、自殺の歌は書いたことが無いと何かのインタヴューで読みました。
私は自殺や心中の歌ではないと思っていますし、ご本人も
そういう意味の歌としては作っていないと思いますけどね。
ただ、抽象的な歌詞なので聞く人のイマジネーションにより解釈は様々に拡がりますね。
