NEW Coffee Products at SCA Expo 2024 - Fellow Aiden, xBloom Studio, and Robots!

- This past weekend I had the chance to fly out to Chicago and visit the SCA or Specialty Coffee Association expo 2024.
And this year, I noticed a little bit of a trend in some of the new products, almost trying to balance a middle ground of being as automated as possible with one end of the spectrum being straight up fully automated experiences, and the other with products like the new xBloom Studio and Fellow Aiden creating an automated experience that’s still highly customizable.
Here are some of the most interesting products I found at expo this year.

Very cute epilogue scene at the end! 😂
I’m all about the chill vibes of making coffee. It’s like my little zen moment, you know? I’m not chasing after some ‘perfect’ cup; it’s all about playing around with the process and getting that sweet spot of consistency. I’m always upping my coffee game, but hey, if there was a way to nail the perfect brew every single time, I’d probably not be doing this as a hobby. These fancy new gadgets? Not really my jam. They’re cool and all, but I gotta wonder who they’re really for, especially with those hefty price tags.
agreed with chill brew vibes
I agree but my wife will never touch a V60 or make an espresso or latte for herself. There’s a large portion of the market that’s interested in the product without the spiritual journey of the creation.
@@cafe_au_neil I definitely have a lot of people around me who are also like that - they just want their caffeine fix quick and don't care about the process at all. But at the same time, many of them are shocked when they hear how much coffee gadgets cost. Thus, I don't think they are also the market of these new and expensive coffee gears.
@@redchen3682 people buy that breveille one and the mocha master. Probably a smaller market that Mr coffee pot but I haven’t done the market research.
Agree, I think you are either a Zen Coffee Ceremony person who settles on the most enjoyable process for the brew and buys the gadgets that fit your workflow....Or you are an instant/Nespresso push one button type. These half assed semi auto expensive machine seem to take out the joy but don't save any time or effort. I will keep my Hario Switch thanks.
Ha 😂 love the way you ended it with the three of you
excited to watch this!
🙏🙏
Man SCA was fun but I’m bummed I didn’t run into you!!
same! i swear i briefly might have walked by you
Ah, walked past you but was too shy to say hi! 😅
haha definitely feel free to say hi if you ever run by me again!
There's several plastic items on the other coffee makers, like the moccamaster.
there are, but comparatively (at least with my experience with the moccamaster and breville precision brewer) the aiden seems to have more plastic - again not necessarily an issue but just a point worth noting from initial impressions!
haven't had experience with the Ratio brewers so can't say for those
Is the plastic problem mainly just durability/quality assurance or is there an issue with plastic in coffee appliances specifically?
durability, more likely a nice to have rather than a necessity though
Tbh im that person who would love an automatic machine! I consider myself a critic not an artist. My husband loves doing pourovers so i got to drink alot of coffees for “free” but its honestly too much hassle for me n im not interested to the point where i wanna do it myself. a machine is a good compromise.
Liking the watch you're wearing Xris! What brand is that?
thanks! its Panerai
The Breville Oracle Jet was something I saw people post about too! Did you get a chance to see that machine at SCA Expo?
Nah, I missed it but @lifestylelab has a vid on it!
thanks for your videos. i love how succinct and direct you are. one request: when you get these products, could you comment on points of failure? more sensors, more points of failure. why am i asking? i backed a marketed kickstarter (super famous company) because of coffee influencers...only to find out the brewer has at least 10x more points of failure than the default - hot water kettle and scale. it failed (not just me) b/c of this one sensor.
for sure!
I see some coffee from thebrownbarista on the bar :)
yup! digging into them soon
Thank you ! 😂 You explained the new Fellow Coffee Brewer the Best
So nothing really new stuff presented in Chicago. Waiting for Busan (1-4/05) where should be new Kees van der Westen Spiritello presented
not a ton of new stuff, it's seems a lot of it was released at HOST too
Can’t wait for robots/machines to replace human baristas.
its getting there
