The Ben K is called that because of the Japanese legend of a warrior monk called Benkei. The legend says that Benkei was on a quest to obtain 1,000 swords from samurai in Kyoto through duels. In the early generations of consoles, there was definitely a big upside to sticking around for the last bits of the previous generation once the new one came out. It's new... but... it's still just a rush adapter. The flying form is a variation on the jet. the power form i don't think has any variance, but it's pretty limited use logistically. That plus the story is the worst one lol, and the game play is by far the easiest.

Im playing through this now, and using this video to help with boss level order. I'm trying to play first and check the video later. I'm at the Mr X stages now, and i have to say that having previously beaten 1-5, this may be my favourite yet. Its so well balanced, has numerous strategies, and encourages the use of boss weapons during the levels in a way i hadn't seen before. Thank you for doing this video, i have enjoyed the series so far, and this is a great way to end it.
Another fun trick in Wind Man's stage. If you go to him as the third robot master you face, and you jump on the last fan (where UCBVG said to just walk across), you'll go up into the spikes and die. Do that enough times, and you'll get a Game Over screen. And then you can, provided you were a kid in the 90s, go outside and play with your friends in the neighborhood. Then you can come back to it after they all had to go inside and go to sleep, sneaking out of your bed. Unless you had a childhood like mine, where you had playing outside AND video game sessions/parties, in which your childhood in terms of being entertained was full of MASSIVE wins.

I think the game you're describing during the end credits is basically the plot of Mega Man & Bass. The initial villain King is introduced as a robot leading a revolution, only to end up being another one of Wily's creations.
38:38 there's interesting behind this enemy. Ben-K is named after classical Japanese warrior monk Saito Benkei. The backpack full of weapons on the robot is like the many weapons Benkei himself carried in his combat career. Seven weapons in total, all at once. He's the guy who basically went to the armory and when the quartermaster asked "How many weapons will you need today?" He said "Yes." 😀
Another great video! Thanks so much. It was a blast learning about this game as I played through. For me, I can see some small faults, but overall it is a very well balanced and fun game. A contender for my favourite in the series.
Hey great channel man! I ran into your stuff a few years back, I should have subscribed then. Keep up the good videos, they bring me back to my childhood in the mid eighties!
Part of me was always bummed out, as a kid, that my family had moved on from the NES by the time this game came out, and I never played it on original hardware. But man, as far as the NES Mega Man games go, this is impressive just because it feels like such a culmination of what the team learned how to do with the series and put it all in here.
Man, I really loved this game and would pop it in when I could. There are a few things I didn't you could do with the Power Suit though. I'm going to have to try them out. Thanks!
I’ve been waiting for this one since the 5th part dropped! By now, I managed to beat it myself (as well as 7 and X1+2), but I always come back every once in a while to this particular series to watch your videos. Always so entertaining and fun, no matter how many times I rewatch them. Happy to add another one to the playlist! Excited for the next one already. Will you go to X1 or 7? Going by release date? All I know is the wait is worth it!
Brilliant video as always. Loved it. Bird on bird violence made me lose it. Good stuff I assume the next megaman vid will be tougher to do, since those get more complex (like different stage looks depending on which bosses you fight first)
I'm glad you finally got this one done! My 2nd favorite of the NES six games (2 is always first). Great soundtrack (2 and 5 are better). Nice selection of robot masters. What's annoying to me is that the best weapon takes exactly 7 hits every time. There isn't an instance where a weapon is just THAT effective to defeat its target in like 3 or 4. Gone are the days of Bubble Lead wiping out Heat Man in 3 hits. I once did a test like you where I tried all weapons out and came to the same conclusions. I will admit that I had no idea how useful the Power Adapter was against the X and Wily stage bosses. I did see a clip on Facebook of someone using it against one of them. I want to say it was the big swinging ball. I hope you'll consider going forward with 7+ at some point.
I remember when I finally got to play this it was on an emulator. It was the odd man out really because I was playing every RPG I missed at the time since some had translation patches drop. I think at the time I was playing Radia Senki or Chronicles of Radia and took a break by playing this game. I can't help but remember that game because it had real time RPG combat with full cutscenes. This was probably because the Ninja Gaiden team was behind it but it's funny how the two games are forever linked in my memory.
Your cover images really do remind me of the old Nintendo Power covers! As for the game itself, I too have become a convert to the Wind Man first boss order- he's pretty easy to beat with the Mega Buster, and his weapon makes it way easier to beat Flame Man. The Flame Blast is arguably the best of the boss weappns, so you are then set up to steamroll all regular enemies.
Mega Man 6 will always be one of my favorite Mega Man games despite it not being as original as the early entries. It’s a fine game, and if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. You can actually beat all of the robot masters with the mega buster, even though Centaur Man could be tricky. That’s why I always save him for last. And the music rocks! Whenever I hear the start of Yamato Man’s music, I always have the urge to sing “Go, Go Power Rangers!”
I must say, I am enjoying the creative uses that you are finding for all of the game's special weapons! I consider MM6 to have one of the weaker sets of special weapons, so this is cool to see!
Mr. X being revealed as Dr. Wiley is a plot twist right up there with Ghaleon in Lunar series and Revan in KOTOR for greatest gaming plot twists of all time!
I've been waiting for this one to come out... Sure, I could have joined the Patreon for UCBVG, but I believe that good things come to those who wait, and thus I waited patiently for MM6 to make the list. Now to wait for MM7 and the first three MMX games...
This game nailed the mechanic of making boss weapons work in levels as well as being specific weaknesses to bosses. Everything is useful.

Good stuff
I assume the next megaman vid will be tougher to do, since those get more complex (like different stage looks depending on which bosses you fight first)
Now this game and Mega Man 5 are very Expensive!!!
thanks for this video!!!
Much like MegaMan you have a great formula and give the fans what they want! GJ
