Kilvey Hill Climb & Hafod Morfa Copperworks Swansea
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 жов 2024
- Join me as I treck up Kilvey Hill, Swansea's largest urban fringe woodlands - which commands stunning views over the city and Swansea Bay, before going on to explore the remains of the nearby Hafod-Morfa Copperworks.
With overseas travel still impossible, this Vlog is based on walkabout discoveries made during lockdown and the fascinating history that's on our doorstep. It's a chance to see our surroundings with fresh eyes.

Lush views from the top!
Deffo right!
Excellent informative video
Thank you very kind.
Swansea has to be the most beautiful city in the UK
I'm biast Jason but I'm inclined to agree.
All UK Copper Ore imports came into Swansea Bay. The odd one out was Red Jacket Works on the East bank of the river at Britton Ferry. All the other works were on the banks of the Tawe. Hence the name Copperopolis
👌
ICI Landore was the name of the works before the merger with Yorkshire Imperial Metals. ICYC was the nick-name of the place after this. "Where are you working?"
"ICYC!"
The hill was our playground when young.it was quite bare as well not as green as today. The photo of the security guard at the gates of the Yorkshire IMPERIAL METALS IS MY Father-in-law who worked there all his working life until they closed.
Amazing Gaynor. Bet hes got got some great memories to! Great to see a new lease of life soon to come to those buildings.
Hi Gaynor. The Friends of Hafod Morfa Copperworks are asking people to share any old photos they have of the Hafod Morfa Copperworks and/or any recollections they have of family members who worked in the Copperworks or lived nearby. If you would like to share any information, please get in touch on FB: Friends of Hafod Morfa Copperworks or email: hafodmorfacopper@gmail.com Thanks.

Used to go up there regular when I lived in Boneymaen. I used to try and take the steepest now and then past the totem which was along the right side edge and up.
Great views! 👍
I live in Bon-y-maen and Kilvey Hill is just 5 minutes away on foot. We are so privilege to live next to a biodiversity spot...
Great to have it on your doorstep. Such brilliant views from the top and so many like me had never been up! Deffo been missing out!
@@JayCurtis I agree with you. We are very privilege and lucky to swim in nature walking five minutes from our door step. I strongly encourage you to walk up the mountain.
