Thanks for sharing your experience. I love October time. So much joy I find that time of year. Halloween is but one part of it. There is Christopher Columbus Day, which causes lots of controversy. Usually that's when churches in California get vandalized and all kinds of anti Catholic propaganda comes out on social media. I give lessons on Colonial history to my kids so they get a balanced view of what happened back then. I find that much more stressful than Halloween night.
I do love celebrating the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary which commemorates the Catholic naval victory at the battle of Lepanto. We make a celebration of that. And not to mention Oktoberfest. We do a Polish style Octoberfest in honor of my wife's favorite saint, JP2.
For all Souls Day we make an alter with all our dead relatives photos. We put marigolds flowers and candles. It reminds us to pray for the dead in our lives.
My family always make a point to go to the truck o treat at our local parish. Far as trick or treating goes. My wife takes the kids around the block. And the rest of the night my kids pass out candy. They enjoy giving out candy. We try to be generous and give chips or big candy bars. And if a kids has a really nice costume either saintly or classy. We reward them with extra treats. And far as the junk candy. I tell my kids no. Not that big of a deal. We save the candy for pinatas at Christmas time.
Regardless of what you feel about Halloween. There is so much richness that the Catholic Church gives us for October. You can do those instead of Halloween.

We are at a point , sadly, where it’s impossible to avoid Halloween 😢, what I plan to do for my kid is Holy Wins , wich supposedly started in the Catholic Church in France since idk some years ago , and yes it’s dressing the kids as saints , and going to church plus ofc having a celebration with some friends ofc catholic, tbh that’s the hard part in my case , but we will try ….Also I’m not dressing him up as anything else not saint related or angel or st Joseph you know , not doing trick or treat, not coming to those celebrations that seem innocent ,but that’s the ground for celebrating later in life and no way I’d like that

I’m Christian but this year was the last year I decided to celebrate Halloween. I personally felt God put it on my heart to stop celebrating as Halloween has its dark origins and everywhere you go you see devil and witch decor, skeletons and other dark things. I don’t want to be associated with what I feel like is the devil’s holiday (this is my personal opinion.) I kept trying to justify just celebrating some parts of it but I felt like I had one foot in and one foot out. I thought what’s the point of celebrating this anymore when the world celebrates this and it is such a dark holiday where witchcraft takes place. I think everyone will come to their own conclusion on this holiday so I have respect for anyone’s choice!
