When I first heard this in game I literally just stood there for a bit listening to the bat lady sing. So glad you did a cover.

The first time I heard this song I felt calm and thought that the character singing it was some salesman. Then I met the winged terror that awaited me. Alina and her beautiful voice gives us the peace that we do not find in Elden Ring.

All of us wandering these lands stood back behind something just to hear the Bat lady sing this melody. Did you know that the regular bats were originally coded to also sing a very beautiful melody in a dead language? I believe it was a dead Mandarin dialect, I can't remember entirely so don't hold me to it lol. I still do t understand why the took it out. Honestly there's a lot of haunting melodys in the game. The Bat matron, the shaman priestess, the merchants when they play their violin like instruments. I remember wandering through the darkness of the outskirts of Nokron, battle weary and needing a moment, I found myself following the sound of the violin to the campfire where it was momentarily safe. ❤

idk about the tarnished part though, other people translated turpes with disfigured which sounds better to me but we would need to discuss what exactly is a tarnished to figure it out

I doubled check to be sure. I can say with confidence it is Latin. I recognized the word quondam and used Google chans translation assets to see if I was correct. See for yourself traveler if I am correct.

I love Classical Latin, with the “v” like an English “w” and the “c” like a “k” et cetera, but ecclesiastical pronunciation makes sense for the medieval and church-like theme and mood of the game.

Came here from ymfah, you sing absolutely beautifully, when I heard it in the video I had to stop and see where it was from. Also let me learn about the lore of the bats which was cool.
Oh the lore is for a game called Elden Ring. The story is quite complex but I'll try to summarize it.
Once upon a time, there was a place called "The Lands Between" (this is where the game takes place). The place was under the rule of a powerful goddess called Queen Marika. She created what was known as the golden order. Most people were happy during these times (or so you're led to believe).
Fast forward an unlown period of time and the golden order is not as glorious is used to be. The "Tarnished" (including your player) are sort of chosen ones who are tasked with restoring the golden order (or destroy it by several other ways) by inhereting it and becoming the new Elden Lord (i.e. Marika's descendant).
I probably neglected a lot of lore and might have made a few errors here and there, but I think that's the gist of it.
Sometimes while playing the game, I'll find one of the singing bats and just listen to them for a while. This cover is so chilling! Fantastic!!

What an ear, connected to a gift of a voice with the spirit of a siren. Amazing. Don't think we've ever gotten to hear that particular timbre in the lower registers of your voice, Alina. Gotta love the singer who knows her instrument. Your pitch, tone and arrangement, as always, stunning.
When I first heard this song, I was just fuckin about on the lake cliffs to the west. I heard it and was curious where it was coming from. I walked around slowly to this spot with rocks tented up. Under it, one of the bat ladies was sat. For a good couple minutes I sat and just marveled at this creature's voice. It was ugly, but at the same time, it was beautiful. The lyrics were spoken with such clarity. These little details that anyone could miss... they mean a lot to me. They are my favorite part of FromSoft games.
I've lost count of how many times I've listened to this. It's kind of ethereal, amazingly beautiful and haunting at the same time. Well done, Alina, this is unbelievably good!

Но задачи спеть акапельно или хотя бы в стиле Van Canto сама Алина, как я понимаю, себе и не ставила, она хотела спеть/сыграть произведение максимально близко тому, как оно исполнено в игре, используя те инструменты, что у неё есть/те, на которых она хотела бы научиться играть.
