Enterprise CVN-65 used the captain's windows from the WW2 Enterprise. Enterprise CVN-80 uses metal in it's hull melted from spars taken from the CVN-65. It's a real thing.
And the NAVY recognizes that you DON'T put -B, -C, etc at the end of registry numbers for frak sake!!! The -A made sense because it was the same hull design, but every one thereafter is just asinine, jeez.
26:06 exactly! Thank you! I hear people say he’s not the TOS Spock. Of course he’s not! SNW is a prequel to TOS. This is like expecting Vader in the Prequel Trilogy behave the same as in the Original Trilogy. Boimler puts it best when he says he was expecting people to behave like they are in a future that hasn’t happened yet. He’s forgetting about the people in front of him right now.
I wonder if Hurricanes are just normal drinks to Orions? We know they're immune to at least one gas that causes hallucinations in humans, so maybe they're immune to the effects of the drink too? It amuses me to picture an only slightly tipsy Tendi just casually downing her 5th glass while Mariner bugs out on the floor.
Two tidbits for you: 1.) The "Riker!" that Boimler calls out when throwing his leg over the saddle was a complete improvisation - imagine yelling that IN FRONT OF Riker himself! 2.) According to Jonathan Frakes, that line is the one which completely cracked his wife (Jeanne Francis) up when she heard it. Nicely done, Mr. Quaid. Nicely done.
Sadly, with two episodes left, we still haven't gotten our Ortegas episode and with a musical being one of the two episodes, I don't think there is enough room for her. She hits my old Navy sailor soul.
@@spamsir It's frustrating that they create a unique new character, unknown to fans, but do nothing with that character. I don't want a tragic backstory, but I do want more than "I drive the ship."
Yeah. We did technically get to see some of her trauma from the war in the latest episode, but it wasn’t really focused on her, and it’s not like we got to see any of her personal experiences and what she went through.
I LOVED this crossover and watched it as soon as it came out! It was released early because it was shown at Comic-Con at the weekend and there would’ve been crazy spoilers online. The whole crossover was so well done and felt like a proper blend of both shows, as well as their respective story elements (like Tendi’s Orion history or Una’s Illyrian arc). I’m such a massive Boimler fan and he definitely didn’t disappoint here. Both Jack Quaid and Tawny Newsome did brilliantly as their live-action versions. I don’t know if you know this but the whole thing with Ransom having the hots for Una at the end is because the actors for both characters are married in real life. Anyway, I’m glad you loved this episode too. Great reaction! Finally, as you asked at the start, there IS reference made to this whole incident in the new Lower Decks Season 4 trailer.😁👏
@@mattwho81 I appreciate the sentiment, but I feel like that would be too confusing. Like I’m sure Seth MacFarlane would love to work with Star Trek and its actors again, but making a crossover like that make sense would be insane. Would it be an alternate universe? Does Trek exist in The Orville’s pop culture past? My personal opinion is that there’s too much talk of multiverses in popular franchises nowadays, and Trek’s timeline crossovers are enough for me (at least they’re all in the same universe). They would have to do a REALLY good job for it to make sense for me. But that’s just my two cents!
Yeah! I was expecting there to be at least one down, convinced maybe I was watching the episode with rose-colored glasses. And that’s how I found out about a lot of the Easter eggs haha
Star Trek is Chronical order would be; 1. First Contact 2. Enterprise 3. The Cage 4. Discovery seasons 1 and 2 5. Strange New Worlds 6. TOS and TAS 7. TMP movies 1 to 6 8. The Next Generation 9. Deep Space Nine 10. Voyager 11. Generations 12. First Contact 13. Insurrection 14. Nemesis 15. Lower Decks 16. Prodigy 17. Star Trek 2009 trilogy 18. Picard 19. Discovery seasons 3 to 5
Well, it's a good episode, but somehow feels like I expected more. Don't know, maybe because it seems to be a plot of "we need this crossover, so let's create a synthetic situation where they are together", instead of thinking of somebody natural that makes them meet. Maybe I just want too much, don't know.
So glad you enjoyed the episode. I had niggles but enjoyed parts of it. I wish they would root a timeline decision instead of trying to have their cake and eating it too. I get this is supposedly a different timeline so references to TOS canon seem weird, judgmental, and hypocritical. If this is TOS canon then Spock and Kirk's actions and relationship then make less sense as Spock has gone through this handling emotions/being more human song and dance before. And I really do not want to see a Chapel/Spock relationship. Spock grinning and laughing was pretty offputting to me and the lectures on canon were very irritating. Explore Chapel's character independent of Spock, that is the story and character I want to see. And no to La'Ann and Kirk. More stories about Pike, Una, Chapel, M'Benga, Sulu, etc. independent of the big four TOS personalities please. I think Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and Scotty have had their time in the sun. I grew up watching them. I do not care to see their stories re-told, or see new stories with them in them, or see variations of them, or to see them in Trek since TNG (TAS and movies exceptions). To me, it's just fan service to some to add them now and a bane to me. Enough of going back to the well. The animators did not to justice to Mariner's character at all. I was fascinated at how LD characters kept the animated actions (running/jumping/flying into each other) in SNW. And I was interested in how the SNW crew interacted with them. As an episode about dealing with one's heroes and seeing how those hero's they react; it was quite a hat doff to the fan service of the franchise and a nice reference point to air it at a fan event.
It absolutely not the Canon Timeline. This show, Duhscovery and Pretendcard are abominations from the Kelvin Timeline, a Kelvin Timeline offshoot or a whole separate Timeline but with all the historical and character personality errors, none of them are in the Canon Timeline.
If you go back and watch TOS and compare it to other shows you consider canonical, you might be surprised to find out many continuity errors, characterisation changes and terrible writing have always existed within Trek franchises. It's okay to dislike Trek shows but to say they're not as 'real' somehow is silly.
Ransom saying number one is the hottest officer is a joke because the voice actor in real life is married to the actress of una
I love the joke they are drunk and hallucinating on the orion drink which suggests the lower decks crews are always drunk
Enterprise CVN-65 used the captain's windows from the WW2 Enterprise. Enterprise CVN-80 uses metal in it's hull melted from spars taken from the CVN-65. It's a real thing.
That’s really cool!
WW2 Enterprise -- CV-6.

Jack Quaid actually improvised the riker manoeuvre line and they kept it in
They had to have shot that scene twice. I can't see the director and crew breaking up when he said it.

19:25 I loved the ending scene. I loved that THEY were so high on the Orion booze that WE saw them as cartoons. Brilliant.
Best Star Trek Comedy episode since Trials and Tribble-ations... And also both episodes commenting on how hot Spock was
True! Trials and Tribble-ations was absolutely fantastic.
I loved this. I've never been so happy to have good Star Trek to watch. Young me is very happy.

Nicely done, Mr. Quaid. Nicely done.
Loved ur review makes a change to see someone react while watching it rather than watch it and plan what to say. Well done 😁
The Orion reaction to Tendi's orion name like I know that name. Makes me wonder if that guy is also related to Tendi
That would be cool!
11:54 he did the power walk!

Yeah, unfortunately it seems what they teased as an Ortegas episode is something we’ve already seen. 🥴 Who knows, they could surprise us!

You missed the Koala, and "RIKER!!"
Yeah, I’m so mad I missed “Riker!” And I love that it was totally improvised.

Yeah, I saw about Ransom and Una in TrekCulture’s ups and downs! I thought that was super cool!
All we need now is a Star Trek/Orville crossover.

“Riker” that line was totally Ad-libbed
When did that happen? I missed that
@@CaptainC319 when he jumps on the saddle. Even funnier since Jonathan Frakes was directing that scene.
there is so much Hughie from the boys in jack's live action performance of boimler
I have watched this episode every day for weeks. It makes me happy each time. Best ever.
Delightful reaction to a delightful episode!
Haha yeah I love the up and downs from trek culture. This episode made a record in up and downs, did you watch it yet? 😂
Yeah! I was expecting there to be at least one down, convinced maybe I was watching the episode with rose-colored glasses. And that’s how I found out about a lot of the Easter eggs haha
There is a great list called The Star Trek Chronology Project. Has every episode in order by stardate.
Cool! I might have to check that out
So heartbroken that Lower Decks is cancelled.
They had indicated that this may have become an annual event.
I love the implication that the reason lower decks is in animated 2D is because someone is hopped up on Orion liquor
23:24 by now it is safe to say Sean enjoyed this crossover episode as well.
This was everything I wanted and more ❤❤❤❤❤
13:27 Johnathan Frakes is a skilled creator.
13:40 I would lose my poo if Pelia was in LDS too!
As an 'original' Trecker (Treckies are newbies) I am BIG TIME smiling !
Trekker and Trekkies...😊
Also I didn't like that episode and I'm an "original" fan... 😂
The ep ends with Pike and Crew trippin balls....
Thats all i taking away from this 😂😂😂
Thry have a new time line. It's called the 'We are proud of trek and put loads of money into this' timeline
i was surprised by how tall jack quaid is in rl.
0:17 no one was prepared for the episode.
Perfect episode. No notes! lol
Star Trek is Chronical order would be;
1. First Contact
2. Enterprise
3. The Cage
4. Discovery seasons 1 and 2
5. Strange New Worlds
6. TOS and TAS
7. TMP movies 1 to 6

9. Deep Space Nine
10. Voyager
11. Generations
12. First Contact
13. Insurrection
14. Nemesis
15. Lower Decks
16. Prodigy
17. Star Trek 2009 trilogy
18. Picard
19. Discovery seasons 3 to 5
The Cage is NOT canonical....
17:56 mine too.

I can understand where you’re coming from, but to me, it works because of the nature of SNW being episodic. Anything can happen!
