Episode 4: Joyce Kilmer Forest and Cherohala (Owen, Lynn and Maggie’s 2020 Dam Van Trip)

We left the Fontana Dam heading towards Cades Cove for a few days. Along the way we stopped to hike the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest trail and then took in the Cherohala Skyway.

Instead of the usual motorhome or 5th wheel retired life, we chose a van trekking lifestyle for our retirement years. It’s more adventurous and definitely a more nimble way of living life. During this pandemic we are trying to stay within 4 hours of our NC home, so a van trip across America is out of the question for us. So what can we do? Planning a rv road trip is never easy, but it helps to have a theme. Our theme this trip is to try to visit as many dams, reservoirs and lakes as we can in a 2-3 week period.
