    ABOUT Dr. Katie Woodley - The Natural Pet Doctor
    =====
    Dr. Katie Woodley, BVSc, GDVCHM, cVMA, is the proud owner and holistic veterinarian of The Natural Pet Doctor. After watching her own husband develop an autoimmune disease and be told there was nothing they could do other than strong immunosuppressive medications, Dr. Katie went down the path of holistic medicine. Becoming certified in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine changed everything for her pet patients. She started The Natural Pet Doctor after being in the conventional vet world for over 10 years to provide pet parents with more resources for natural medicine advice and care so they had all of the options. Her mission is to ensure that all pet parents have access to herbal medicine, supplementation, and nutritional advice throughout their pet's lifetime that helps them thrive rather than just survive. Dr. Katie offers online education through her courses, UA-cam channel, Facebook, and Instagram.

    My mini dachshund has pancreatitis and she was put on purina HA prescription hydrolyzed dog food. After being on this for about 6 months, she started eating the other dog's feces. She has never done this! I mentioned to vet that I thought she was experiencing a nutritional deficiency and vet said no. Vet said feed her more. I have never fed the dog this much quantity but it seemed to help--a bit. I wish I could take my dog off this food. However she has had hemorrhagic gastritis twice on top of being prone to have pancreatic attacks. I have heard you mention that you do not like hydrolyzed food but you did not expound on it in a previous video I watched from you. Thank you for all the wisdom and knowledge you share.

    This video gives me so much hope! My baby has stomatitis and the whole situation breaks my heart. I have spoken to several veterinarians who didn't really have much (or any) advice on how to treat the root cause. I have been feeding a clean raw food diet since he was a kitten, but after researching for months, only recently have I begun to understand that he may have a gut imbalance and possible mineral or some other deficiency. I am so glad you mentioned the omegas! I had tried a different fish oil in the past and he wouldn't take it, so I am going to look at the nordic naturals you mentioned. Thank you so much for all of this information! Also I am stoked to hear that there is a toxicity and mineral test for pets!!!

    Enjoyed finding your videos Dr. Woodley. We moved to Texas and are coming back to Colorado for a number of reasons. Unfortunately, my little dog that you treated has developed a multitude of chronic and serious conditions because of the nature of the climate and environment of East Texas. We look forward to coming back to see you soon! If the poor little thing makes it! This is serious. What do you recommend to detox high doses of broad spectrum cephalosporins that were inappropriately prescribed.

    I am wondering why dogs would need any carbs. I thought they have zero needs for carbs.

      The carbs we use are healthy like vegetables that act as prebiotics for the gut microbiomes. This is the food source for the bacteria that are really important for the gut. Also, vegetables are a good source of antioxidants and phytonutrients. Hope that helps!

      @thenaturalpetdoctor Thank you very much. I have been raw feeding my two dogs for 13 years. They are now 14 and 15. I am always trying to learn something new so I really appreciate your videos. I did feed vegetables in the beginning, however for my particular dogs I discovered that they do better without vegetables. I do include a very wide range of both secreting and non secreting organs, along with their meat and raw meaty bones, which I hope provide many of the nutrients they would get from vegetables. They both have very healthy guts and no health issues at their age so I have not found the lack of carbohydrates to be a problem for mine with regard to gut health. However, I realize every dog is different.
