Tamiya did an Amazing job on this kit!!
I agree!
This is actually a huge step up from the previous Tamiya kits. They finally started stepping up their game when they introduced their Panther-D and M4A3E8 Sherman. I think their retooled King Tiger is supposed to be a decent kit, but I can't swear to it.
Which King Tiger kit are you referring to? I didn’t know they had a new one
Yeah, the E8 Sherman was a fantastic kit!
I can’t believe this is a Tamiya kit! The level of detail on this is insane, yet it probably still retains that Tamiya fit and ease of construction! Might have to pick it up when I can :)
I don't think you'd be disappointed with the kit!
Hello mr. Hammer. I build a tamiya 2a6 and it build like from itself.and there was no flesh at all.thank u4ur efforts and thank u4 sharing.keep the faith.with sticky greetings from Brandenburg/germany.your modellmate.christian
Thanks for sharing!
That's very nice, and formers for the P.E. - inspired. Maybe this will start a trend.
Perhaps!
Thank you excellent review.. my kit just arrived...
Oh nice!
nice review video
Thanks!
Cool
Cheers!
Nice kit tamiya quality
Yes indeed!
Scalehobbyist has it for $44 bucks. Can't beat that price. I'll get one. Got a cool striped white winter scheme. As to the figures? They are supposed to look like that. They are wearing NOMEX tank jump suit. New Tamiya figures are broken down that way because they are actually 3d scanned. And I've built several of their new and newer kits and if they do have a complicated pe screen, they always come with a plastic guide. Their bt5 and 7 kits have one and I kept them in case i build one of those from a different manufacturer. In all honesty. Plenty Of armor must-have pe guides. Most are for Sherman light guards. Oh and the tracks are mostly snap together. You Can't beat from the ground up brand new Tamiya kits
Thanks for the additional info on the figures! Helps out a lot! And $44 is a great price!
I am planning on buying this kit can you give me a list of all the paints you used?
I haven't actually built this one, but it uses the Nato woodland camo scheme, so the best bet would be Tamiya paints Nato Black, Nato Green, and Nato Brown, they're pretty much dead on for this paint scheme.
I just got done building it and had a blast, lots of parts, details, and photo etch! The tracks were a little weird but I got it to work. I didn't add the figures because they looked cheesy.
Awesome, good to know, thanks for sharing your experience!
When's the build video coming? 😁
Sadly I only received a review copy and had to return it to the Hobby Shop, but I was so impressed with the kit that I may purchase one for myself!
@@HammerheadModelMaking all good. It would be great to see some 1/35 WWII Armour builds or even 1/24 CAR builds. Not sure how others would feel about that or even yourself.
I am pretty much a beginner myself but have learnt alot from your builds. Would some 'How to' videos be an option in the future? Focusing on one technique per video. Look forward to the next build! 👌
@@Super-Simo-B Yeah, I'm planning a series of smaller How to videos that will focus on the fundamentals of model making, I don't have an ETA, but sooner rather than later.
G'day Hammer! Cool review of a typical modern Tamiya kit. Not to disparage the Tamiya offering I think the Border kit offers better bang for buck given the price is way less, parts count is higher, more comprehensive PE plus you get a metal barrel included. All for under AUD$100!! Online reviews give it high marks. The Tamiya kit starts at that price here Down Under!!!! Keep the reviews coming and look forward to builds. Cheers! 👍
Nice, I wasn't aware of the Border kit, I'll have to take a look at it!
It does look like an excellent model, and yet another increase in quality for Tamiya, in small yet noticeable ways. Shame about the crewmen though, they did look very low in comparison to the rest of the kit.
Cheers
💀👍🏻
👍
Thanks!
Would rather see you build the model than review the model.
We all know the excellent reputation Tamiya has for quality.
This is one I wish I could build, and I wish I could do builds of all of the review kits I do, but I need a little more money to be able to do that! Cheers!
Tamiya have always been my favorite model kits. But THIS model is the WORST. And that is because of the TRACKS. It took me hours upon hours to make these tracks. The hinge pins break too easily, and the tracks do NOT always snap together, nor do they stay connected. No fun at all. Tamiya’s rubber band vinyl tracks go on in seconds. But not these cow crap tracks. VERY aggravating. I have been buying Tamiya kits since 1978, but if Tamiya continues to use these tracks, I may never buy another Tamiya kit again.
Thanks for the feedback, thats good to know! Sorry for your frustration!
