If the frequency rage would be like in the nrsp-st, this you be a big winner.
Very Informative thanks for the detailed review.
Cheers! Glad you found it helpful.
Thanks Hayden, this is what i have been looking for and the price is reasonable. I have just secured all the permissions i need to put this at my remote (very quiet) site. I only hope the internet connect is up to it though....... I will use your affiliate link and hopefully you get a clip of the ticket..
Cheers
No worries Roly - remember there is still a small delay on the internet side of things. But if you have reasonably low latency - then you could even pipe the audio directly into WSJT-X too!
Very nice review. This looks like a really good SDR with a ton of features. I like OpenWEBRX with it's ability to decode DMR/DSTAR/YSF stations on VHF/UHF which this SDR does not have although, if I could find some DSTAR on HF that would be fun. Thanks Hayden.
The RX-888MKii (the other one shown) goes up to 1.8 GHz. But then you can't use that with OpenWebRX (as far as I know)... but you can use it with your favourite SDR software. Thanks Don.
Also - I think some VK's have played with DSTAR on HF... maybe on 10m?
Not sure it “Changes EVERYTHING”. It’s basically a KiwiSDR with more channels and more frequency coverage. The KiwiSDR has been around for a long time.
Is it possible to easily modify the web ui software to add support for decoding DMR/D-Star/M17/P25 signals? I remember that one fork of this web ui supported this.
ITEM IS NOT AVAILABLE ON ALI EXPRESS
Are they're any SDRs with this much bandwidth in the 700 to 800 MHz range for public safety monitoring in the US?
The RX-888 MKii covers from 10kHz to 1.8 GHz.
The specs state that it can stream the 10kHz to 64 MHz or 64M all at once.. but I'm not sure if it can do it higher. I will test when I do my video on that unit.
does it work with sdrconsole?
This is covered from 21:38 onwards
Looks interesting for sure. Unfortunately it says -> Item not deliverable to the selected address
Hey mate, try one of these alternatives - s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oCjYnQD
Ive noticed most Ham channels are full of ads disguised as a review video with a convenient referral link. I cant trust any of these reviews
Thanks for the heads up!
Hayden has multiple SDRs deployed, so it is definitely something he uses.
Thanks for your comment, I hope you enjoy the video
It would be nice if it came with an SD card loaded with whatever you need - wouldn’t have cost that much more surely?
The beauty of the open source nature is that you can choose what firmware/OS you want to put on it. A micro SD card isn't that expensive these days, a few bucks. I think the size of the firmware was around 200MB or less.
Aren't these "13 channels" / "13 receivers" just a marketing? I mean hardware doesn't have 13 separate receivers, right? I assume it only receives one wide signal and allows you to add software jobs that look at smaller parts of that one wide received signal etc. (ps. that bad video title...)
"Multiple Channel Support
Simultaneously operate 13 RX channels and 13 waterfall channels, enabling extensive monitoring and analysis without the need for multiple devices."
The hardware can support 13 receivers within the bandwidth. What's wrong with the video title, I don't understand?
@@HamRadioDX Ok, so more like sdr++ multi vfo feature (that works on any sdr), right? Video didn't explain why it changes everything and it isn't obvious.
@@HamRadioDX I think this is a terminology thing. It has 1 receiver ADC that the FPGA can process into 13 "slices" of that wide bandwidth ADC, which would allow 13 people to receive anywhere they like at the same time.
OpenWebRX is a cool project, when I'm not using my hermes lite I turn it into a public web SDR that is listed on receiverbook. It supports many different types of SDRs.
@@arekx Web SDR's are how I got into ham radio, they make HF accessible to everyone. I think it's a great thing for clubs to have, and can even give those with extremely high noise floors access to HF.
It’s one receiver which grabs the whole bandwidth and converts it to digital. Then it allows 13 virtual receivers that can vibe tuned anywhere in that bandwidth. Or at least that is how I understand it.

Oops. VHF only goes to 145MHz, so a little short of my privileges in the US
But don’t you just use FM above 145?
@pauls8456 From the Web-888 webpage, "Covering a spectrum from 1kHz to 62MHz and VHF range from 118MHz to 145MHz". That is the radio, not software. Maybe it goes to 148MHz, but it does not say that.
I did also forget to mention in the video that to switch between HF & VHF you need to do so in the admin menu. There is a button where you can switch it.
I only tested the HF portion - I will see how high it can go.
