Amazon being held accountable for things that could kill people is different to UA-cam being held accountable. All we want is that these platforms take down things that could cause harm when they're pointed out.

There are politicians and individuals in power who believe words and ideas are just as, if not more dangerous than dangerous, life threatening goods. 0.2% for the latter, 10% for the former with new online safety laws. The danger is, right to repair will be in their sights too.

There was a terrible product I reviewed once and the brand tried to bribe me to remove it because it was voted as a helpful review. They tried to offer me gift cards in ever increasing value every time I said no, until they tried guilt tripping me by saying the company needs money to support someone with cancer or some nonsense like that. I never removed the review, so they removed the product listing and relisted it on Amazon so it could start fresh with only positive reviews.

I got banned from leaving Amazon reviews many years ago. Funny thing is, all my reviews were 5 stars. I reviewed a music CD and maybe one or two electronic items, all positively, no assholery involved. To this day I have no idea why I was banned. I wasn't notified either, I found out when I tried to leave another review one day and it wasn't being allowed to go through. I asked support and they never even replied.

No, that ending is exactly why Amazon needs to pay for protecting bad products. A thing of dental wipes marketed as being for dogs and cats killed my cousin’s cat several months ago, and Amazon won’t let you use words like kill or died in the reviews. The product is still there, still listed as being for cats as well, with 8k supposedly being ordered in the past month. The average cat owner most likely isn’t aware that citrus is highly poisonous to cats. That includes every part of a grapefruit, including the grapefruit seed extract they’ve got right there in the ingredient list. I believe Vayda was 12. She didn’t make it 24 hours after the dental wipes were used for all of six seconds. She didn’t deserve to suffer the way she did. No one who loves their cat deserves to experience buying a product to better their life only to see if horrifically kill them. It should not still be available and still be marketed for cats. Everything about the situation is wrong. So fuck Amazon. I wish they’d be fined into the ground for every dangerous product. But nah. Pets are possessions, not family members under law.

That's just providing a logistics service to the seller though. Compare this with eBay who make it very obvious who the seller is, and that the seller isn't Amazon.

I think by doing this, with the way Amazon presents the information Amazon is effectively endorsing the sellers (even if they try to claim that they do not). Amazon's brand is first and foremost, followed by the product while the seller is hidden away.

Charge per affected person, based on how significant the offence is. That way the punishment fits the offence, and companies that violate laws against tens of millions of customers get significant fines, without simply having agencies or courts guess at what is reasonable for something like this. And make them calculate the total amount of money they made off of something like illegally selling data, and add triple that amount on top of the fine for the violation itself.

We need the corporate veil to be pierced more easily to punish bad actors, and we need leadership positions to have the onus to prove they have disincentivized illegal behaviours by their underlings that stand to benefit the company, not mere plausible deniability created by a published ethics manual that sits in a dusty corner.

Too many products were not what was described or were cheap Chinese junk. For example, I bought a 6' 'come-along' to tighten a fence. It wasn't six feet. Wasn't close. I bought a set of hole-saws and one hole in a 3/8" piece of plywood dulled the cheap steel so fast I could barely finish the one hole, never mind the six I needed. Other products were fakes or were deceptively marketed. The final straw was their streaming. They put most of their good streaming behind paywalls or I rent to them while they butchered Tolkien and other IPs that were, at one time, great. Plus $3.00 to not have commercials. Forget it...

I posted a detailed review about this, including exactly how I'd tested it and how I ruled out it being the temperature probe that was wrong. And Amazon themselves rejected the review, stating some general guidelines which I couldn't see how I could possibly have stuck to any more closely. And with no way to find out why *exactly* they'd rejected it. So I gave up.
And yet they still keep pestering me to leave reviews all the time, and leave up other reviews which clearly completely break their rules. It makes no sense.

Its nut just 3rd party sellers. The item you showed sold by Amazon shipped by Amazon. When it is a 3rd party seller, it shows Sold By company name Shipped by Amazon. 2.5 million subs , your character seems to be working. Keep up the good work.

Louis, I absolutely do not think you talk too fast. As someone who struggles to have the patience to wait for slow talkers to finish, listening to another person talking at a reasonable rate is a breath of fresh air. Keep doing you

My opinion is that Amazon prevented people from warning each other about shitter shops. This should be reason enough to fine Amazon something like 100 billion dollars.

Yup! All of these "I'm just the middleman" companies are totally dependent on reviews to maintain quality. If Amazon is going to squelch reviews, then it's just a fence and a counterfeiter.

I remember watching a video about how on Amazon you can buy incredibly powerful handheld lasers, so powerful that their ratings rarely match up with what you're actually getting, lasers that're powerful enough to cause fires, or if mishandled, cause immediate and severe eye injuries.
So hopefully this may start to hold those sellers or at least Amazon accountable.

I have seen more than a few people in the car audio scene have massive subwoofers, and high powered amps on low gauge wiring with no fuse at all.
I have personally seen what happens when you put to many amps threw a wire too small without a fuse, it starts with smoke and it ends with a fire. Fuses are there to protect wiring from over heating and starting fires. I have watched a car with power wire run on the floor board over heat, melt off the coating than short everything out in the car in a 10-15 second time period solely due to them lacking a inline fuse on power wire no where near its sold at power rating.
A fuse will not save you from bad copper clad aluminum wiring sold pure copper, but it is an added fail safe.

"Turns out these were made improperly where they were grounded out from the factory, yeah?
And what it did was ground itself out and blow up the amplifier. So the speakers were crap and it killed my head unit.
Literally, like 1300 bucks worth of stuff destroyed. Destroyed!"

I bought some of those LED corn cob lights off Amazon years ago as a replacement for some fluorescent tube lights that were of the normal lightbulb thread. Both of them did not say to use in a particular direction which after they smolder/caught fire looking online I found that you’re not supposed to use them horizontally, but long story short got really lucky could have started a fire easily impacting many peoples lives.

Just over a year ago I bought a well reviewed surprisingly inexpensive Chinese lipo battery charger. After a few months I started to notice that it overcharges battery cells, and if you know anything about lipo chargers you can imagine that I stopped using it - but unfortunately it was too late to get a refund. Then two weeks ago I got a message from Amazon that it was recalled for being dangerous and so I got my refund, turns out it was making some batteries explode. I wonder how that happens…
Apparently they are all defective from this factory and are missing some component that is essentially for preventing overcharging. … now, I’m lucky: it didn’t burn down my house and so me, my family and pets didn’t die in a fire. But it’s horrifying how easily that could have happened. This charger had thousands of 5 star reviews, real bullshit.. Amazon really needs to be reeled in on this, this shit could’ve killed my fucking family dude and it didn’t just because of luck and using a seperate meter to measure individual cell voltages. This shit needs to change

The biggest issue I have with Amazon…so f-ing what, they remove a product made by FDJDIM, within a week the same exact product is listed by HDNMS company. Amazon encourages this because you see so many of these “smash your head on the keyboard” company names that are all cheap Chinese crap.

Aluminum foil taped to your chair where the cat wants to scratch, will discourage the cat from scratching. After a period of time you can remove the foil and feel pretty secure that the cat will leave it alone 😊

hard looking for quality stuff anywhere now.
Search for car parts and you just start seeing names like:
    -Clear glass
    -White Fling
    -Nuktook
    -Bleusing
Or whatever the hell some of these companies just decide to scrabble up as a name.
