I did not know there was an English dubbed version of this film so its a little strange with the Germans speaking with British accents
and as a german it's a little strange to finally being able to understand the actor playing kat.

Hi, Adnan - great reaction! Have you seen the original AQOTWF from 1930 or the television movie from 1979? The tv version was very good. It's interesting to know that the book, which sold over 2 million copies in it's first year, was banned and burned by Hitler in Nazi Germany... he considered it a threat because it made people think for themselves. IMHO, all the more reason to read it. ✌🏽💖🦉

I have to correct you, the nazis didn't ban the book because it made the people think for themselves, it was because its anti war message. 😉

@@adnanatthemovies Hey Adnan, thanks for a good video! One of the things that made the nazi's so terrible is that they did not only want to erase specific people from existence but also that they wanted to erase them from history. Once they came to power they did mass book burnings of books of cultures they didn't like but also books with a pacifist message like ''Im Westen nichts neues'' and science that didn't fit like their ideology. One of their biggest book burnings was that of the Hirschfeld institute of Gender and Sexuology where they did research into biology and sexuality, a lot of early research on homosexuality and transgender people got lost because the nazi's hated them.

The book is a short read, well worth the effort. Most of the Great War was fought gaining and losing bits of land over a 50 mile spread.

Hello Adnan, this movie is a masterpiece - the director Edward Berger has conquered the last bastion for Germany, this masterpiece received so many Oscars (4) as all German films in the last 80 years together. Arrived on the throne of the film world in Hollywood. Proud for Erich Maria Remarque, who wrotes this best antiwar classic book of all time (40 million sold books)an historical legacy for us Germans.
