Ok you guys need to look swayback up. This can be born in them and is unsure what the actual cause is. Though it can be from a bad saddle fit over multiple uses. Also, unless the horse has kissing spine, unrelated to swayback, it isn’t painful for the horse to be ridden. However, I still don’t like this as the way they are doing it is just breaking the horse, breaking the spirit, rather than training him and creating a bond. It is still sad

However, after doing research this horses, even though not trained well, are on the same status level if not over family members for the country they are from. I hate they don’t have more access to proper training as I think some of the people are just ignorant of what is actually right.
It looks to me that the Hirse maybe at the early stage of becoming SwayBacked, the Man Getting on his Back looks like he may giving the Horse discomfort due to his size and weight. If you watch hiw his back dips down when the man gets on.
this horse is clearly uncomfortable with the situation he is in. all the people crowding round him isn't helping, they are fight or flight animals, they need room to run if the are scared. also you can see this horse isn't ready to be ridden, please you might need to call a vet in just to check him over or check that his tack is fitting properly before you start to train the horse. also all the crowd might be distracting for the horse so it would be a lot easier to do it in a quiet and calm place with not many people. I don't exactly know what you are trying to accomplish with this horse but it is very clear that he is agitated or scared.

There is a relatively high incidence of this genetic condition in American Saddlebreds and if you look into it you will find they are actually rather accepted even to be show horses.
And the horse has either a very hurt back from riding it too young or it's a damaged back where u can't ride which is very bad to so I would agree it's just plain abuse and the people in the back ground are laughing

So I am not going to start a debate but in order to own horses you need to be educated for each horse you own, this horses back is not in good shape and you need to stop jumping on because the horse is in a lot of pain that is why the horse is jerking away when you are on him/her and then he/she is okay when you are off. You are not controlling this horse you are putting it in more pain.
@Michael Burkinshaw When I first trained with horses I was taught that if a horse misbehaved it should be punished with a whip enough to learn the lesson. That was the way it was back then. But this was over half a century ago!! I would hope that anyone handling horses today would be more enlightened, I have not hit a horse with a whip for over 30 years and still feel ashamed that I ever did. It simply is not necessary and I believe it shows bad horsemanship. Please learn a better way for you and your horse.

The other I have had for 4 years, she's in her teens now so I don't know her history. She's a strong and complicated character, I sense she may have been roughly handled in the past. We have a good relationship but it has taken time. If I had ever hit her she would not be the horse she is now. I just wish that 'natural horsemanship' and training by release of pressure had been more generally known 50 years ago.

I think the halter you have on the horse is way to restricting... it’s sad that people think this is ok. Most the time it’s not their fault it’s just the way their taught and raised. His back is sunk in, arching down. He has a bad back and the weight of a grown man hurts his back. You can't ride it. It's a damaged horse.
