I convinced my husband to cut my hair for me and he did soooo....... well you'll have to watch to find out. I was definitely a day I will never forget. hahah
A very smart move. I was cringing at first when I saw him gather your hair in a ponytail and saw through it, but was glad to see afterwards he did the full sectioning, letting it down in increments and trimming your hair layer by layer. My husband has been cutting my hair for me since we first started dating, he gave me a haircut in his kitchen and he did a great job. Better than any salon haircut. He became my stylist that day and has been doing it for me ever since. Saves me hundreds a year. I get compliments on my hair and two of my friends have him cut their hair for them as well. They stop by, we sip wine and each takes a turn getting caped to have our tresses trimmed. I do suggest that being your husband does a great job cutting your hair that you get a cape, additional hair clips and a sectioning comb. The right tools make getting great results easier.
Thanks for the suggestion... We definitely need to invest in a few things. Especially a really good pair of scissors! I cut his hair too and a cape would definitely come in handy.
The good quality, sharp shears are a must. Hubby has a really good pair of the Japanese steel ones that come apart to sharpen. He takes manageable amounts of hair to cut and they cut a clean line, no pulling on my hair. They weren’t cheap, but they were definitely a worthy investment. Paid for themselves many times over.

Congratulations on a successful effort the first time. Especially being you had him take off so much of your length. I have been the family barber and stylist for years and it does take time to learn the process and get great results every time. For very full hair like yours, I would recommend your husband look at some videos where the hair is held out at a 90 degree angle from your hair and trimmed so you don’t get too heavy a line where you get the Christmas tree effect. And you are correct, the salon stylists like to style your hair to hide their mistakes, then you see them clearly after you wash your hair, and need to grab the shears to fix it. I have fixed some really bad haircuts for friends and I wonder....🤔 What were they thinking?
He did a great job cutting your hair for you. I think you found your new and permanent hairstylist. That was a lot of hair that you had him cut off for his first time ever cutting hair. Like others have said get a good pair of hair scissors and hair clips, Good scissors makes all the difference. Have him watch videos done by professionals, he will learn so much from them.
