I wish it would be reformed instead of defunded. I believe in public broadcasting and the BBC of the past was a great example of how it should work. Why do I believe this? Because private broadcasting always has owners with personal beliefs (in the best case) or vested economic & political interests (in the worst case). Public broadcasting is a counterweight to that. If BBC breaks a corruption scandal that no one else would dare publish, then it is forcing everyone else to also report on it since not doing so would make the private broadcasters lose money & public trust. That's how it works. When it's effective and run in good-faith, it keeps the media more honest than it usually is.
BBC is a communist propaganda tool. Just like MNBC, CNN, NPR and many others. And yes, it should be defunded.

Arabs (Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Syria) tried to do genocide to jews (israel) in palestina in 1947. They wanted to remove israel completely.
During the war, many arabs fled their homes to Jordan (the west bank) or egypt (Gaza) with the hope that once the genocide is over than they can return).
But in the end, Israel won and wouldnt allow the people who wanted to perform genocide to return and live among them.
Go figure, right?
These same People (The palestinian PLO under Arafat) kept sending terrorist malitia (Fedayeen) from the jordan (the west bank) to israel for many years between 1950-1960) to kill jews.
Funny thing is that the fedayeen also killed many jordanians.
In 67 egypt and jordan were about to start another genocide, to continue what they failed to do in 47. Israel so that coming to took over the WB and Gaza along with Sinai peninsula.
In Jordan, the palestinian's started massive wars against their jordanian hosts, because thats the friendly type of people they are. When killing jews is too hard , they kill muslims as well.
The Jordanians kicked them out of jordan i to Lebanon, they also caused trouble in Lebanon. Thatnks to Araft, who is a really really peacful leader.
Anyway, since the palestinians under arafat are still generaly the same people who tried to kill jews, israel had a moderate military presense in the WB.
The palestinians and Arafat didnt like that because they failed their genocide they were restricted to the WB. As if the military was guarding them for no reason.
But jordan was still the sovernty over the WB back then, but after the mess with the palestinians, the removed all responsibility for the palestinian PLO and just left them to make troubles for someone else (israel).
In 1993 israel's PM tried to make peace with Arafat and give the PLO the west bank and gaza, but Hamas, who was cultivated by Arafat, started a chain of suicide bombing against civilian jews all over israel.
Hamas destroyed the peace. Perhaps by Arafats instructions.
After a decade of suicide bombings in buses and restaurants that all came from the West bank, israel finally build the wall and checkpoints around the WB and limited the palestinians movement. Then the bombing almost stopped.
So the Nakba AND the restraint on palestinians in the WB is all a result of arab violence.
In 2005 israel evacuated Gaza from jews and the military, giving Hamas the freedom that the palestinians are asking for.
And since then, Hamas attacked israeli cities about 4 times, starting 3 wars.
This is what happens when the palestinians get freedom to do what they like.
In 47 the palestinian arabs tried genocide and ethnic cleansing and failed, which resulted in them not allowing to return and live next to the people they wanted to eliminate.
Their genocide backfired.
In 67 the were about to do the same, but israel beat them to the punch.
Their attempt at another genocide backfired.
Their occupation at first was mild. No wall. Barely any borders or checkpoint or wild arrests. But the palestinian terrorism attacks caused israel to limit them further to prevent the terrorism, and it worked.
Their terrorism backfired.
Israel gave land to palestinians in Gaza. It backfired on israel.
No Palestinians in Gaza are, again, trying to kill jews, and , again, it backfired. Israel could take over gaza again, which would be the right thing to do for israel.
Or give it to the PA and Abbas, which WILL backfire against israel, since abbas is just as bad as Hamas. He just doesnt have the rockets. If he gets the financing Hamas got, he will be just as bad.
And the sad thing is, the palestinians are into terrorism against jews. Not all, but most. They have been taught in schools and mosques since the Palestinian Authority was created in 1994, that killing jews and dying as martyrs is the most honorable thing there is. All this indoctrination funded by UNWRA. Maybe unintentionally. Maybe.
And these are the main points of the truth.

I thought at first he was referring to the appeasement before WWII, but I think he's actually talking about all the times Israel has succumbed to pressure to call a ceasefire against Hamas. Every time Israel tries to deal with Hamas Western nations and the UN immediately start demanding a ceasefire. In the past, Israel's agreed to stop before they've achieved victory. As a result, 1400 people died on October 7 who would otherwise have been alive today.

When journalists play into sensationalism and not impartiality, not reporting both sides, they effectively help Hamas win the information war.

I experienced first hand how BBC lied, in the final days of the Vietnam War. The BBC often prematurely reported on the fall of a certain city/ province of South Vietnam to the advancing North Vietnamese troops, while in fact, the administration of that city/province was still functioning and South Vietnamese army trying to defend it. Before any interview a predetermined narrative is determined. The interviewer has a list of questions on a clipboard to maintain that narrative. When the guest left the narrative the BBC producers had no choice but to delete what he said.
The more I read about the history, the more I despair over the selective memory of victimhood on either side. The gentlemen covered Arab violence but let’s not forget Jewish violence. It’s as if the Jews conveniently forget that there were Jewish paramilitary going around bombing civilians (91 British and Arab in the King David Hotel attack) and slaughtering villagers to frighten them off land that eventually became part of Israel.
The days when the BBC gave you unbiased news has long gone. It should now be called the Biased Broadcasting Corp. Unfortunately the standard of reporting has become so abysmal in the last 20 years and the reporting on this latest Israel / Hamas war has hit rock bottom with daily reports from Jeremy Bowen being particularly bad.

I always like it when people tell me I need to do something and then don't allow to do anything to get it done or give me the resources to do it but still want to complain about it. It's sort of like what a lot of people in the West and especially the media (if you still call it such--I just call most of them terrorists supporters or manipulative instigators these days) tell Israel.

Saying theyre with Israel 100 % but arm twisting them into agreeing for humanitarian aid without bartering for any hostages... and literally sending millions of dollars to Hamas . Hamas is seen as freedom fighters to the Palestinian people, so of course they support them. Put yourself in their shoes, imagine if you live in a massive open-air prison and for 60 odd years your people have been killed, in prisoned just for having a political opinion, your homes and land taken from you and given to someone else just because God says the land belongs to them. You live in poverty; you can't leave without getting permission and you live in permanent fear. Would you not also stand up, and if you were not able would you not support the people who do. Who are we to judge what is right and what is not. our western governments have funded militant groups around the world to topple governments. We armed, trained and funded the Taliban to fight against Russia, then allowed them to take power in Afghanistan. We funded ISIS to fight in Syria, and so many more are we not also the terrorists in the eyes of those countries we have destroyed all in the name of democracy. Why is the amount of jews killed more important than the number of Palestinians killed.
October 7th they reported 1400 jews killed... Since then more than 8000 Palestinians have been killed...
Cease fire without a resolution won't work... There must be a a cease fire and immediately after the Palestinians must have their state declared so that they have the right to self determination and the war will end... But Israel do not wana give up the land they have occupied which belong to Palestine... And that is why we find ourselves here.
