I really really liked this class. I think introducing them as 7th graders and seeing them progress into adults was great. I also enjoyed their college years more than class of 06. It just seemed more realistic than 06, maybe bc they lived on campus and did more freshman year “things”. Quite surprised to see Chris mentioned but I think the writers could’ve given him a little more. Damian was a geek and messy lol. RIP JT, I wonder why there’s not much mention of him irl. Jt’s death was sad sure but the scene where Jt admitted to taking his own life was the saddest scene from all of Degrassi, at least for me. Do you remember way back in Degrassi High before Degrassi: Next generation there was another suicide attempt in this show by a main character named Claude Tanner? Well he was the first (if I remember correctly) death and suicide in this show, his death was sad and traumatic but what makes Jt’s death hit different is because Jt was the comedic relief like you said in this video and his most iconic lines is from the earlier seasons so to see Tj try to commit suicide when he is supposed to be the comic relief is just so heartbreaking and to see him breakdown in the hospital bed😭 That’s why that scene is the saddest scene in all of Degrassi for me and one of the darkest storylines if we are being honest. I rest my case lol.

It was really sad when Manny's parents disowned her from 17:18-17:20 and what I have to say about that is that you should never kick your kids out of the house no matter what they do because if you kick your kids out of the house, you're telling them that they can die and they're just kids.

I know that JT's actor chose to leave the show to go to University, but that doesn't make his death any less tragic. Also, he got stabbed in approximately the same place where Jimmy had been shot by Rick. I know the results are storyline, but that has always bugged me.

Loving these videos! As random as it was, I actually really liked the Manny and Jay pairing. It's one of my favorite relationships, and I'm glad they ended up together during their last appearance on the show, which I kinda take as the writers saying they're endgame. I felt like he became a much better version of himself when he was with her. And I loved the connection he made with her family. The "fake dating" thing gave them a valid reason to come together, despite never interacting much while they attended school together. Even though it was a totally random pairing, at least they had chemistry and development that was shown over time. Unlike Emma and Spinner who were also a totally random pairing but it happened entirely over the course of a Degrassi movie so we never got to see their chemistry or growth as a couple.

At least we got to see SOMETHING develop over the course of time for Manny and Jay. We saw nothing for Emma and Spinner. At the beginning of the movie they're classmates who attended school together and the end, they're married and in love enough to decide to stay married.

EXACTLY! The worst decision ever. Made me start hating Degrassi and I loved it before. Emma and Spinner had NO history at all and it was so insincere, none of us ever felt overwhelmed by the love because of how awkward and random it was, no time to develop through different situations. I guarantee they probably broke up at the very most a couple months after marrying.

It watched 2007 class in my early 20’s in the early 2000’s. It brings me back especially when I was a single mom living by myself for a short period cause I could watch whatever I wanted without anyone complaining 💕
I watched all of your videos about this show and I remember at one point you mentioned that each class has a theme (The first class, the more well rounded class, etc) and you mentioned that the theme of this class is how it revolves around Manny and Emma. I think the actual recurring theme of this class is the characters experiencing the consequences of sex. Almost every character in this class that matters has dealt with a consequence related to sexual activity, like Liberty's pregnancy, Emma's gonorrhea, Manny's entire through line, JT's death being the most extreme consequence of Mia's ex drama and general reputation, Lucas leaving Mia to raise a child on her own, Toby buying condoms as a contingency for his 12-year-old girlfriend, Damien bragging about fooling around with Liberty and messing up that class dynamic, and Manny being slut-shamed by her father and being kicked out (not her fault, but it happened). It happened to characters of other classes, but it feels more intentional with this one. Even Heather Sinclair, who was meant to be an off-screen running joke got mono, which eventually contributed to the event of Time Stands Still. Okay, this was a reach, but in this world every theory matters
Did you know Brazil kind of had it´s own version of a show similar to Degrassi? It was called "Malhação" and I think it ended a few years ago but it used to go on since the 90´s
Yo were 6 when this came out ?!!! I was 6 when I watched the OG Degrassi Street/ Junior High! I love the entire series . It's awesome to see it's reached so many generations! We had bullshit saved by the bell , growin pains , full house etc . , Degrassi actually covered real issues for kids in an honest way . They didn't have a fuckin sitcom laugh track behind it like all of the "very special" episodes! The Different Strokes bicycle shop episode is the best example !
The Class of 2007 in Degrassi TNG is the last OG class of TNG And any other classes after that are in later seasons especially whenever they started skipping years that's what gets confusing though because since they started doing seasons as half semesters instead of a full school year I kinda wished they kept it as a full school year for like season 6, and season 7 and even season 8 & season 9 because after season 9 was the class of 2008 though instead of 2009 and the next class after that was the class of 2011 which was at the end of season 11pt1 😊
I wished they extended the school year across two seasons earlier. That way, we would have got to see the OG cast have more storylines at Degrassi. I always felt that either there wasn't enough episodes in a season or that the season per school year went to quickly. It would have been a better way to send them off if we just had more time with them.
20:21 Daniel plays a very realistic hot head with Sean’s character, especially when you want to slam and rage. That part also shows that Emma isn’t fazed by Sean’s outbursts because she knows him well and he needs to let out his anger or emotions. Ellie tried to purposefully make Sean express himself which isn’t ideal either. Emma was a pleasant character when Sean was in her life. Semma will always be my favorite OTP of Degrassi 👏👏👏👏
1. Why was Damien included in the intro when all he did was date Emma, Manny, sort of Liberty, wreck their friendship, then leave 😂 they made him a plot device if anything. 2. I just realized that Holly J and her class were called the class of 2011, but they were only 2 years younger than Emma’s class, so they should have been the class of 2009

Manny was my favorite out of the OG cast. She might've said and done some not nice things, but WHEN WAS SHE EVER WRONG?!?!?! @@gm.8805 that's true. but I feel like that's just kind of Degrassi as a whole. It's a teen drama. Most of the couples go from hating each other to loving each other to breaking up to making up lol. At least we got to see SOMETHING develop over the course of time for Manny and Jay. We saw nothing for Emma and Spinner. At the beginning of the movie they're classmates who attended school together and the end, they're married and in love enough to decide to stay married.

@@tamara_diamonds422 no it's more because it's a very niche topic, there are less than fifteen degrassi podcasts, and maybe only four other youtube channels that do deep dives? it's just started to become popular again with tiktok and the HBO revival hence the resurgence.
I hated that Emma and Spinner ended up together. They made it seem like the 2 of them had a lot of history with each other but they were hardly ever in any scenes together the whole time they were on the show.

EXACTLY! The worst decision ever. Made me start hating Degrassi and I loved it before. Emma and Spinner had NO history at all and it was so insincere, none of us ever felt overwhelmed by the love because of how awkward and random it was, no time to develop through different situations. I guarantee they probably broke up at the very most a couple months after marrying.

I watched all of your videos about this show and I remember at one point you mentioned that each class has a theme (The first class, the more well rounded class, etc) and you mentioned that the theme of this class is how it revolves around Manny and Emma. I think the actual recurring theme of this class is the characters experiencing the consequences of sex.
Almost every character in this class that matters has dealt with a consequence related to sexual activity, like Liberty's pregnancy, Emma's gonorrhea, Manny's entire through line, JT's death being the most extreme consequence of Mia's ex drama and general reputation, Lucas leaving Mia to raise a child on her own, Toby buying condoms as a contingency for his 12-year-old girlfriend, Damien bragging about fooling around with Liberty and messing up that class dynamic, and Manny being slut-shamed by her father and being kicked out (not her fault, but it happened). It happened to characters of other classes, but it feels more intentional with this one.
Even Heather Sinclair, who was meant to be an off-screen running joke got mono, which eventually contributed to the event of Time Stands Still. Okay, this was a reach, but in this world every theory matters

Yo were 6 when this came out ?!!! I was 6 when I watched the OG Degrassi Street/ Junior High! I love the entire series . It's awesome to see it's reached so many generations! We had bullshit saved by the bell , growin pains , full house etc . , Degrassi actually covered real issues for kids in an honest way . They didn't have a fuckin sitcom laugh track behind it like all of the "very special" episodes! The Different Strokes bicycle shop episode is the best example !

The Class of 2007 in Degrassi TNG is the last OG class of TNG
And any other classes after that are in later seasons especially whenever they started skipping years that's what gets confusing though because since they started doing seasons as half semesters instead of a full school year I kinda wished they kept it as a full school year for like season 6, and season 7 and even season 8 & season 9 because after season 9 was the class of 2008 though instead of 2009 and the next class after that was the class of 2011 which was at the end of season 11pt1 😊
I wished they extended the school year across two seasons earlier. That way, we would have got to see the OG cast have more storylines at Degrassi. I always felt that either there wasn't enough episodes in a season or that the season per school year went to quickly. It would have been a better way to send them off if we just had more time with them.

20:21 Daniel plays a very realistic hot head with Sean’s character, especially when you want to slam and rage. That part also shows that Emma isn’t fazed by Sean’s outbursts because she knows him well and he needs to let out his anger or emotions. Ellie tried to purposefully make Sean express himself which isn’t ideal either. Emma was a pleasant character when Sean was in her life. Semma will always be my favorite OTP of Degrassi 👏👏👏👏
