Yes it's my local ish b and m hyper but I've ridden mako more than shambala. P. s dude . This is how we roll was amazing. Keep up the good work .
Mako was my first coaster after waiting a year and a half from Covid, and that music in the station and on the lift hill does a really good job of building anticipation. I was super hyped to ride Mako for the first time and the music really got my adrenaline pumping.
Loved this guys. Such a rare opportunity to compare coasters like this. I know Sarah preferring Nitro is kinda a meme, but it would’ve actually been interesting to hear the details of how that one compares to Mako / Shambhala as well. I’m still to get on my first B&M hyper. Planning to ride Raging Bull and Diamondback next year, fingers crossed!
Shambhala vs Mako? Goliath. Haven't done Shambhala though, so idk, and Mako is incredible, and so is Diamondback, and even Intimidator. So many good picks! You can never go wrong with a B&M hyper.
Shambala is the golden hyper and is b&m using amazing elements and sequencing and the intensity is incredible, it is a bucket list coaster for people around the world mako is the hyper that no one expected to ba as good as it is, its barely 200 feet yet it has airtime that is world class, it also has the airtime hill that is considered to be the best in the world both coasters have similarities like having a dud hill after the mid course break, and both are considered the top hypers of the world they are also very different too in height, speed, lenght, themeing, station, trains, etc we should say thank you b&m for this cause we have 2 incredible coasters and the people in fl (like me) and the people in spain must be very lucky since they have these masterpieces for me personally, I pick mako since it feels breathtaking and it was my first hyper and i like the layout a little bit more, i think they added that second half since they wanted to let people breath after the airtime hill after airtime hill, for the presentation of the coaster since it looks cool with the train going around the entrance, and so mako looks more photogenic, but yeah, mako is my top hyper coaster and atm is my # coaster of all time with medusa steel coaster above it
I'd probably agree the first hill on Mako is better than any hill on Shambhala. But for me, Shambhala is just an overall better ride. The drop in the back on Shambhala is insane and the whole turnaround into the speed hill sequence is soooooooo good.
Ridden both and Mako edges it for me. Just a more enjoyable experience overall, especially the 4-5 second floater hills. First drop on Shambhala is better, but the combined airtime is better on Mako. Both great rides in their own respect and shows how B&M hypers can be so different from one another but still be consistently solid across their range.
Wow, you compared them! I'm from the UK and so I've been to PortAventura loads, but I've never even heard Shamabala mentioned whenever somebody talks about a great B&M hyper. So, kudos for making the trip and trying it out :-) Anyway, Shambala is pretty much my favourite ride of all time, the point about it being more forceful is right on the money. Oh, and I absolutely hate that Mako trim after the turnaround.
I'm edging towards Shambhala overall, I still feel that the drop, ampersand and speed hill are arguably standout moments on it too. Mako is a lot of fun though! Haven't done either at night, which should hopefully change next year 🤞
shambhala is not intense enough to grey out, if you want a coaster to grey out in europe you have Katun at mirabilandia and Monster at walygator, they pack wayyy more G's than shambhala, Furius Baco at port aventura is the most intense ride in europe for sure with Redforce
Shambahla is a lot better - and this is coming from someone who literally lives down the street from Mako. I was blown away by Shambahla it is the best B&M hyper IMO even better than Fury. Our next closest B&M hyper, Goliath at SFOG, is no question better than Mako as well.
@@gddatfatrat2390 I visit SFOG once every few years. Mako has a good first half but dies pretty quickly and the second half is pointless. Goliath has everything, strong airtime, strong positive g's, nice laterals, and keeps its speed from the moment it comes off the lift to the moment it hits the brakes.
It's gonna have to come down to the best entrance again. Personally, I like Mako's colours and entrance, but Shambala's entrance is pretty stunning too, but not the point that I would use it to say that it's better than Mako. This is all I can go by because I haven't ridden either ride.
Nice coaster comparison , I once rode cedar downs at cedar point and the pony for a penny at the grocery store both within 24 hours . A close call but i give it to cedar downs . I dared to do it because i live on the edge . I also will walk fast while holding scissors if double dog dared . And i will marathon any merry go round while doing jager shots . Merry Christmas !
I rode Mako and I have to say it's never a bad day at SeaWorld. Mako is the number #1 coaster in Orlando Florida. Definitely a adrenaline coaster and never gets boring always packs a thrill experience
This summer I rode Hadgrid's Motorbike Adventure and Galeforce within four days of each other, and that was cool because they have the most launches for any coaster in America.
Shambhala is definitely the queen here. The location, entrance, first drop, weird turn-around, splash... Mako is great, I enjoyed it, but it feels way smaller and traditional.
Having ridden Mako and DBack, I much prefer Diamondback. But, Mako was trimmed the day I rode, so maybe things would be different. Diamondback is longer, those camelbacks are immaculate, and there are more of them (and they are larger) than those on Mako
I'm going here in February, and I'm wondering if I need/should spend all day at the park (I've never ridden any coasters at the park, and I'm hoping to get on ice breaker too)
Is it just me or does Taylor and Sarah seem to have kinda of a low G tolerance? I don't know how you grey out at 3.8 Gs on Shambhala. Iv experience 4 to 5 on many rides and having gotten close to greying out, might just be me idk.
I rarely grey out on coasters. The only times I remember doing so was on an Alpengeist ride at night in September when it was running blisteringly fast. I’m curious to know what I-305 will do to me, but until then my G-tolerance is high
It‘s not just about the g-forces alone, but also about the duration. Higher rides tend to hold the g-forces for longer periods of time, so manufacturers have to reduce the peak amounts. For example 3 g for 3 to 4 seconds could easily be compared to 1 to 2 seconds of 4.5 g (no exact numbers). And physical condition is very important, like fitness, blood pressure, musculature and sleep.
@@CoasterStats Well obviously yeah and when I experienced even some intense sustained moments, like Batmans helix that is 4 Gs for about 2 to 3 seconds and like on Baclot Stunt Coaster with its long tripe helix or Raptors double helix, I still didn't find them all grey out intense but maybe it was just me or the day I was riding them. They were still fun though. Edit: Also your channel is awesome, you got the G Force POVs!
I honestly can’t say which one is better because Mako and Apollo are the only B&M hypers I’ve ridden. And I’ve ridden Mako once versus 50+ laps on Apollo. Mako is objectively the superior ride, but this is one of the few ride models in the world where none of the installations are bad rides. Apollo IMO is criminally underrated: it’s been running great this year. Shambhala looks best overall, but unless I get to Spain, it’s unlikely my rankings will change that much
I did something kind of similar going to both Carowinds and Kings Island in the same day (with an 8 hour drive in between) to compare the B&Ms. Found that Fury is miles ahead of Orion, Afterburn is better than Banshee, and Diamondback edges out Intimidator.
Goliath at SFOG is the Best B&M hyper, it is Non-Stop airtime & intensity with no stupid mid-course break run to make it crawl to the finish like the overrated Mako.
Went to SFOG with Mako as my #1 thinking I might have a new #1 after riding my first RMC hybrid. I definitely left that night with a new #1 but it wasn't Twisted Cyclone. I was not prepared for how good Goliath was. The back row night ride I got was the best single ride I had ever had. Of course then I rode Velocicoaster lol.
Haven't ridden Shambhala but Mako is my favorite B&M Hyper bc the airtime is amazing, especially in the front. However, does this mean Coaster Fights are coming back?!?!
i would say shambhala but i do have a bias as it was my first B&M hyper and that i rode shamabhala at sunset on the very back row getting amazing airtime but it is hard to choose between them
I'd say shambala is better coz it has a great view, quality throughout, a long ride, great theming (except the station), the plaza is great and the turn around is amazing.
I feel like Diamondback is superior to both (haven't ridden, and probably won't ever get the chance to ride Shambhala though). Im purely going off of your descriptions with Shambhala. The only thing that would be against diamondback is location as you just go back into a forest, so theming is meh. You do get the legitimate splash down effect though! Plus I definitely prefer the staggered seating. You get someone in there with broad shoulders and you're uncomfortable the whole ride on the straight across seating.
@@mr.intamin1081 I completely agree. I would say behemoth and mako are about equal then shambhala is either slightly better or worse depending on the day
yesterday i rode shambhala twice after riding dragon khan and getting a slight allergic reaction from food, puked in the bathroom soon after, then rode shambhala twice more and proceded to upset my stomach for another few hours. i regret absolutely nothing
So I like the smaller trains on B&M Hypers. Been on all 8 in the US. Mako is the clear #1 for me. Strongest airtime. Great night rides. Candymonium was actually second. Shorter ride but each element was so good. I think Diamondback and Goliath (SFOG) are 3rd and 4th and are pretty close. Both are great rides. Diamondback can have a little bit of a rattle from time to time. Then it drops off a bit. Intimidator and Apollo's Chariot are next. Intimidator is great if the trims don't hit or don't hit hard. Apollo has a great setting, but you have to ride in the back. Nitro is next. I wasn't overly impressed but I rode it in rainy cold conditions. Raging Bull is last. Other than the drop in the back row, the twister layout is my least favorite for a B&M Hyper. My expectation for Shambhala is for it to challenge Mako for the top B&M Hyper. Shambhala has the speed and size. Mako has the shorter trains and very strong air time and a great setting. I don't believe any of the other B&M Hypers would challenge for the best.
Okay, now that I've ridden Shambhala, here's the big question: Shambhala or Superman: The Ride? I know most enthusiasts would damn Superman for the restraints--Shambhala's are, indeed, way better, as is its overall presentation. It's a beautiful ride. But Superman, I think, has the better layout. Certainly a stronger ending, with that twister section leading into the powerful bunny hills and that snappy brake run. Generally stronger forces too. (But it doesn't have the ampersand.) Anyway, this is the hard one for me.
I think Diamondback & Apollo's Chariot are better than Mako as I've ridden these coasters, but I haven't done Shambhala, it does look better than Mako though. I'm only missing Raging Bull & Shambhala, hope I can get those credits sooner than later.
My favourite ride years ago was Space Mountain in DLParis. I rode it ... like 25 times or more.. and during the years I feel one specific point to compare rides, your mood is very important .. I mean, first ride on the morning or the last one at night (when you are more tired) feels so different in the coaster, of course, the weight of the riders affect too a little to the velocity but Im agorafobic and sometimes the ride scares me a little more and feel it faster or maybe Im tired and feel it less intense... well.. I know is confusing, what I try to say is just your attitude and if your are tired or a bit excited, change the feelings of the ride in a 50% maybe.
As someone who basically lives at Mako, 1) I need to ride shambala (or any other B&M hyper, relatively new to the coaster enthusiasm) and 2) the part about OCCC made me laugh. Mediterranean is definitely better 😂 Also i rode Mako 3 times during Howl O Scream and it was sooooooo good
Prefer nitro, no trims on any hills cause it's older, helix has great forces, drop off mid-course slaps. And nothing beats a Magnum style second half with straight airtime.
So I would say Shambhala because it does have standout moments: First drop that goes under the terrain is awesome, better than the first drop in Mako which is a standard drop. The 2 hills before the watersplash are awesome (and the watersplash itself is awesome too), AND the big turnaround is just the best of the best. MAKO does have a pretty cool first hill, but it lacks theming, and the rest of the ride doesn't actually get to the level of Shambhala. So for me, I'm definetly #TeamShambhala.
I've ridden both and for me Shambahla wins hands down for it's impressive size, speed and intensity. It delivers consistently throughout the ride. I know people rate Mako but I really don't think it's anything more than a solid ride. 😲
What beats both of these by a MILE is Hyperion!! Yes I know it’s not a B&M, it’s an Intamin, but in terms of hyper coasters over 200 ft then Hyperion is the best in world, no comparison. Coaster Studios you guys need to get yourselves to Energylandia x
I havent watched, will update later. I love mako and shambala looks cool time to see what you think. EDIT: Hm i can see both sides but i think id likr mako a tiny bit more, but idk. That turn around on shambala looks awesome and I wonder if that grey out moment on the drop is true.
The first time I noticed it was actually on the vertical loop of a Vekoma Boomerang, which is pretty forceful. After that I started paying attention and realized that I was getting little visual disturbances on loops more often than I realized.
They both look great I think all B&M hypers are at least good but I don’t think any of them look elite for the type of ride experience they’re supposed to deliver
Controversial: Having ridden this coaster 11 times over the last few days. IMO best airtime can be found on second and third cars. I swear the only time I was in my seat was the very bottom of each hill. 😂
I’m sure shambala is better but I haven’t ridden it, and mako is my favorite hyper as of 3 days ago. My other hyper credits are nitro and skyrush (sorry Sarah)
I actually don’t know which one is better, but If I had to pick one, the winner will be Mako because the airtime that mako gives it’s the best thing ever. Shambhala in my opinion is less intense
Shambhala for me but they’re both awesome. First drop is better, turn around is better, speed hill is better, and it’s longer. First air time hill doesn’t hit as hard as mako but honestly that’s what you ride El Toro for not these ;)
That’s crazier than when I rode VelociCoaster and Maverick in 24 hours.
Ooooo. What was your take? Maverick's shorter trains have some pros/cons.
@@jarrodjob I personally prefer VelociCoaster as I thought it was more enjoyable with better airtime and inversions.

(But it doesn't have the ampersand.)
Anyway, this is the hard one for me.
I think Diamondback & Apollo's Chariot are better than Mako as I've ridden these coasters, but I haven't done Shambhala, it does look better than Mako though.
I'm only missing Raging Bull & Shambhala, hope I can get those credits sooner than later.
Does seaworld do assigned seating?
no
Shambhala is the better ride when running well, it's up there for me. Mako is a smaller, simpler version. But still a great ride.
Mediterranean is definitely better 😂
Also i rode Mako 3 times during Howl O Scream and it was sooooooo good
I rode Steel Veangence and Maverick in a hour! Lmao
Mako seaworld orlando
Prefer nitro, no trims on any hills cause it's older, helix has great forces, drop off mid-course slaps. And nothing beats a Magnum style second half with straight airtime.
You remind me of TheTimTracker
with camera work and such
So I would say Shambhala because it does have standout moments: First drop that goes under the terrain is awesome, better than the first drop in Mako which is a standard drop.
Taylor, just admit it is a fair draw between the two! 😄
Yes
Mako is amazing
SFOG has a great hyper called “Goliath” y’all should make a trip and ride it it’s great i love Mako also haven’t rode the other one!!
Actually Diamondback because it’s amazing
Recently make has been running really good especially at night
By Tycoon Rules... Excitement lvls. 1. Elements 2. Transitions 3. Location 4. Theming [ Mako ]
Wait so what is it? Mako or Shambala? Ya'll keep argueing lol! :) Great vid.
I've never ridden a b&m hyper luckily next month I'll go to canada's wonderland to ride behemoth and the giga, leviathan.
It's crazy to hear about people "graying out" on so many rides. The only ride I've felt something similar on is Top Thrill Dragster
Shambala vs. Mako vs. SilverStar ?
Silver Star is easily the weakest of the three, probably. Taylor wasn’t too huge of a fan
Did you guys hear that Adventureland got acquired by Palace Entertainment
I hear Diamondback a lot as well. I can name several YTers that consider Diamondback being the best hyper coaster
I’m sure shambala is better but I haven’t ridden it, and mako is my favorite hyper as of 3 days ago. My other hyper credits are nitro and skyrush (sorry Sarah)
So you went on Shambhala and mako so you now have to re-ride the best b&m hyper witch is nitro
Goliath SF Georgia > Nitro
Shambhala dominates all B&M hypers tbh
I actually don’t know which one is better, but If I had to pick one, the winner will be Mako because the airtime that mako gives it’s the best thing ever. Shambhala in my opinion is less intense
First drop...first camel back...turn around...speed hill and hill after speed hill are stand out moments
Rode it 16 times
Shamball is the best
8:20 well done.
Shambhala for me but they’re both awesome. First drop is better, turn around is better, speed hill is better, and it’s longer. First air time hill doesn’t hit as hard as mako but honestly that’s what you ride El Toro for not these ;)
