I’m a makeup artist in New York, and I love your videos . You are probably the most relatable working makeup artist on UA-cam. I really appreciate your videos. Keep it up!
can you make a video on how to be a session stylist?? I am a make up artist and try to style hair when a client asks, but could really use some ideas/how to’s for common hairstyles, tips etc. honestly, literally the basics. thank you so much for putting all of this information out for all of us make up artists. it is extremely helpful.
I have been binge watching your videos for a bit now and they are honestly the most informative videos for aspiring makeup artists I have found. I am 15 and I am looking into starting freelance makeup! I'm not too sure how to go about it because I have found that there are very few teens that actually do freelance makeup as a part time job. Eventually I would like to get into doing prom makeup, bridal, and parties like sweet 16s and quinceaneras. Do you have any advice for young aspiring freelancers like me? Of course I do not have the experience that makeup artists that have been in this industry for years have, but I do believe and am a pretty good candidate for someone looking for a quick makeup application with a small budget. I love your videos!
Hi Madison!!! You definitely at this point want to practice as much as possible and grab anyone you can for makeup application. Start posting photos of your work and go from there. My first part time job at your age was in the makeup department at a drugstore and that's how I got some of my first clients!
Angie Di Battista Thank you so much for responding! Like I said your videos are so incredibly helpful and there are no videos quite like yours out there! Ive learned SO much from watching them and I will continue to watch them! Id love to see more videos about undertones and more videos talking more in depth on mixing foundation and the RCW
You are so amazing! Thank you so much for such helpful information! I'm working my first wedding next weekend and I'm doing hair and makeup. This video is great!
Hey Angie! This is such a helpful video! I really appreciate all the information and advice! I want to suggest a video on sanitation of the hair tools you use including combs, brushes, irons and hair clips in between clients/talents and after you are finished with the job. That information would also be useful ☺️ Thanks again for all you do for us!! ❤️💋
Love this video Angie! Really helpful. I hope you could do a video on how to set your mom’s hair (if she’s game for it) for a wedding. My mom has the same hair as your mom has and i am really clueless on how i can ads volume to her hair that would suit special occasions. Thanks!
I could definitely do that one day! I use a mousse with hold and volume (Usually Moroccan Oil), blow dry, and then flat iron/curl the front depending on how long it is.
Very useful, you may have to save someone's hair, even if you are not a hairdresser. I always wear hairpins and hair straps/ bands (Which is the right word? The Google translator is confused) in my makeup kit. Greetings from the other end of the world Angie.
Hi Shani! No to the crimping iron but yes to the root powder!!! The only thing with root powder is that I don't often use it on set if there are hair changes - some of the volumizing powders prevent the hair from being restyled properly so be careful of that!!!
I also do hairstyling and I always bring hair accessories with me as most of my work is bridal. I have pins, headband-like and those that looks like a small comb but with designs (I don't exactly know what they're called)
Hi Angie could you make a video for dry skin , what is the best high end foundation primer concealer also creams . If you can even do a video on step by step for taking care of skin and hair
Hi Nadia! Those are really broad topics - is there anything specific you are struggling with? If you've seen some of my other videos I only primarily use Face Atelier foundation as well as Cinema Secrets/RCMA - I don't carry high end foundations/concealers in my kit because they are too pricey to maintain. I also am not a fan of using primer at all underneath foundation.
Happened to me once too. I had to ask for her own comb. It was disgusting. Is it okay to stipulate in the contract that I can refuse to do someone's hair in this case?
Love your videos. When you put an extension, does the talent keep it or do you take it out at the e d of the shoot? Just curious as extensions are very expensive.
Informative & digestible - as always. Thank you. Is it possible to do just MU & not hair other than flyaways & the obvious deterrents to a perfect shot? I have zero talent in hair.
Angie Di Battista Ok! Your videos are my MUA curriculum, so please consider posting one. LOL 😬❤️ Thank you for sharing so much of your knowledge with us. 🙏🏾 Love from Alabama, USA.
also a side note, I always tell my clients to exfoliate their skin right before their appointment so that their foundation doesn’t look cake-y and it’s smooth... how do you fix the foundation if they didn’t exfoliate?
Brushes/tools get sprayed with 70% alcohol after each client and I deep clean brushes and tools once or twice per week. I don't use extensions as much as I used to but if I do they are obviously washed immediately after use.
Hi Shelby! In Ontario where I live/work there is no requirement for licensing to work as a makeup artist and you can session style the hair as well without a license (no cutting or colouring). To cut hair in Ontario you need to have a Certificate of Qualification (I do not cut hair so I don't have this) and I would need to go back to school and/or apprentice to learn to cut.

Definitely! I'll probably start with just a discussion on the types of things required as a session stylist/makeup artist and go from there.
Superb information there! I’m getting addicted to your videos!☑️
Edutainment at it's finest! QUEEN!
xoxoxo
I've been waiting for this video for the longest time! Informative and well executed as always
Thanks Jenn!! Great idea!!!! I will add that to the list!
Yes please!

John Frieda Hot Air Brush is amazing. It makes hair soft and shiny and it's very easy to use! I recommend it very much.

So helpful! Love the organized hairpins and clips! I'm inspired 🙌
Organizing hair clips is the worst but also the best LOL
I love my Dyson so much for my curly hair and Dyson sells refurbished ones for $100-200 if you can't stomach the $400 price tag
I just got the cutest little travel hair dryer from sephora that was cheap and comes with both concentrator and mini diffuser!
I'll check it out!

Hi Dessy!!! Good idea - Always prepared! 🤗
Love ur work, could u demo a bridal updo please
Hi!! Can you do a video on how you sanitize/clean your kit, brushes, makeup etc...
Hi Devonna! I have a hygiene video here: ua-cam.com/video/s0CWHkMlvgY/v-deo.html not sure if you've seen it yet. This might be helpful.
YAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Taking notes girl. Do you ever use a crimping iron? Texturizing root powder?

Angie Di Battista thank Yousif reply will defiantly go through all your videos 🌺🌺🌺
always informative. and always relatable Videos.
Love your look
I have been looking for that size container for bobby pins! Do you remember where you got it?
I got those from Walmart years ago!
Hi Angie! How do you deal with clients who have head lice? And what would you do to your hair tools/brushes?
I don’t! If they have lice their hair is not getting done by me. I’ve had this happen once and my brushes were immediately thrown out.
Happened to me once too. I had to ask for her own comb. It was disgusting. Is it okay to stipulate in the contract that I can refuse to do someone's hair in this case?
Yes! It’s your contract so you can definitely put in what works for you.
Love your videos. When you put an extension, does the talent keep it or do you take it out at the e d of the shoot? Just curious as extensions are very expensive.
You definitely keep them! They don’t stay with the talent.
Informative & digestible - as always. Thank you. Is it possible to do just MU & not hair other than flyaways & the obvious deterrents to a perfect shot? I have zero talent in hair.
For me personally in my market (being non union) I would never work, and I wouldn’t get enough work to pay my bills if I didn’t do hair.
Hey Angie, Do you have a hair tutorial on clients?
No I don't have any hair tutorials posted.
Appropriate moisturizer and spot exfoliation usually does the trick!
Can you talk about how to sanitize hair tools and pieces?
Brushes/tools get sprayed with 70% alcohol after each client and I deep clean brushes and tools once or twice per week. I don't use extensions as much as I used to but if I do they are obviously washed immediately after use.
as a session hair stylist are you a qualified cosmetologist also ? could you do cutting if you wanted?
