SICK matches. I'm merely a casual fan, but it's thrilling to see two pros going head to head like that. Makes me want to pick up the game myself, though I don't have the time to devote to get as good as these cats, lol
@badarasta whats the unblockable setup you are talking about? Do you mean the cross up fierce in the corner? Cause if so its not really unblockable, its just an ambiguous crossup which makes it hard to tell which way to block. Definetly blockable, just really tricky.
@momotao118 Seth was never banned from competition. We didn't see him in Japanese tournaments however because the character wasn't available until arcade edition.
however in the original final fight rulebook (in japan) under poison it states her as a newhalf, which was (at the time) the Japanese equivalent of transgender. There is so much info stating her as transgender, and if you want more go to MegatonStammer's video about it, it's very informative.
@alek98 Um actually at the end of the video, Poongko and Uryo bow to each other and shake hands, It isn't noticeable at first, but it's there at the very end of the vid. Also, there was another match where he shook a player's hand although I forgot who it was.
@TankP0wnz I think Poongko doesn't use U2 because in AE has been nerfed, and it can be hit at the first frames. In Super edition, he always did shoryuken FADC U2 because of his invincibility (chip damage guaranteed)
@TheManowarBabsi Half the idea of sakura is that she can turn tiny opportunity to do absolutely ridiculous amounts of damage. She has infinitely fewer options than seth (who is very strong, even with so little life) - it's to be expected that she guesses wrong and is "dominated" throughout the round both on wakeup and in terms of footsies, and remains competitive mainly through her massive damage output.
I appreciate the well toned response, I'm aware as to what he was speaking of, but I do believe it's a bit asinine to speak of one lone person developing the metagame for that character, I know similar situations have occurred in previous game title but regardless to put everything into one sole player I wouldn't say is too accurate.
I think he's talking more about the metagame. People may have played Sakura before in the literal sense, but Uryo put her on the map. This is common in many games - one person figures out the way to play a character or style that will be incredibly successful and thus mimicked by everyone who comes after.
@Gorionward I think it missed due to range or hit stun. If Uryo had blocked the jabs then he probably would have been in range of the SPD. Maybe Poongko wasn't expecting to hit him? Either way
@keeyk118b I don't think that would be a fair exchange. He'd need a lot of his options taken away before he's given more endurance most likely. His command grabs and dive kicks are definite problems when fighting him. Maybe then? I'm not sure.
@MRfrankastank I was the one saying she is fine and SHOULDN'T be nerfed lol. The ''Yea she should be nerfed cause one Sakura is decent :p..'' was sarcastically meant, as they have been judging that from this one battle lol
@smashbro5 if close to the corner, after the 3rd hit, Sakura would end up in the corner. However if only 2 hits are done Sakura ends up outside the corner. So, yes, it is on purpose
@theSkarekro Oh I didn't see it that way. I'm not sure about vanilla, but I do know that Daigo, Tokido, Mago, Wong, and Kindevu did some kind of rating list for AE that I happened to see when searching, and I don't remember Sakura even being in the top 10. I assumed she was B or C.
crazy match, both players going all out with their offense and risk taking. To think that poonko lose because of a whiffed spd and a psychic ex dp from uryo, incredible.
@Valorios eh, im not going to lie, i play sakura and her links are pretty easy. but honestly, she has absolutely no solid reversals other than ex dp so thats where it gets evened out.
@izwanhaiqal Looking at that last round in the second match I can't even believe that. Poongko opened Uryo up several times, look how hard he had to work and didn't even take the round. Uryo guessed right twice and took the round.
@Valorios I turned away from Seth when I first played because of that fact. I considered that I stank and that I'd die just that much quicker. In a funny twist of irony, he's now my main and I like to think I'm very good with him!
@pj71885 on the 1rst round even with 2 hit poongko went in the corner. i guess that 3rd hit worth it i guess :) and at 3:50 did he messed up or it was for the corner....? and last i dont know what is bad for sakura to have the oppenent in the corner, HP tatsus combo doesnt work there? i really dont get it
@SithLordRagnos Absolutely. If you exclude Seth, Shin Akuma and Shin Bison there has never been a character in the whole of the street fighter series who wasn't the same level as everyone else.
Did I miss something or did Uryo risk the entire set on a EX shouoken which he wouldn't have been able to FADC if Poongko has blocked it? If he blocked it, Poongko could by did a EX SRK, EX tanden engine combo and probably just go for the chip win right afterward. So either that was a OS I didn't see, a good read, or just a coin flip decision by Uryo.
@fauxx82 Ah, thats not what I meant though (Shouldnt have said ''Only reason''). Of course you also have to be very smart to get as far as he does (Talk about using the right option every reset lol) Altho you could say he gained all that info by playing a lot too. But he's a smart player for sure.
@Valorios The only thing ridiculous about this match was all that damage Sakura could dish out to Seth. Not to mention Uryo's obvious Mastery of Sakura.
@hackstermatrix: Some 3rd Strike fans have been known to claim that the game really is balanced when you look at it, and that no character has completely unwinnable matchups. Sound familiar? Also, the fact that you put Seth (not even CPU Seth) on the same level as ST Akuma tells me a hell of a lot.
@Jtehbunny okay to be honest i just gave an opinion out knowing it would turn into an argument but im not different from other people, other people feel the same way, some people commented the same thing as me and no one talked to them, to be honest people need to understand when an opinion is given out they should ignore it and give out their opinion instead of starting an argument
@MrTatsubei uryo would have been able to start a combo in the amount of time it would take poongko to input the ultra. the shoryu fadcs were a frame trap and a guarenteed ko
Im coming from 2024 to watch again this great match
Those were some of the most epic Street Fighter matches I have ever seen. Kudos to both these players.
Definitely one of the best matches I've ever seen.
Man I love watching Poongko the machine, He play with no remorse! :D the Rushdown at 4:14 is really badass! True crowd pleasing
Probably the best match I've ever seen. You got to respect both players for that kind of level of play. WoW!
hey ov3rhead, i just wanted to thank you for your amazing street fighter dedication and giving the community a channel to rely on. thank you :)
特にこの頃人気だったうりょへの応援が圧倒的に多い中、異国でアウェーなプーンコを目一杯応援して盛り上げるこくじんすこ
Uryo is officially my favorite player. He keeps amazing me with his quick thinking, knowledge, and superb execution.
Loved the commentary. It's the best that I've heard in a long time.
Those cross ups at the end were sick. Those 1 frame links are so hard to do and Uryo makes them look so easy.
I absolutely LOVE super hype Japanese crowds/commentators, it makes it THAT much more exciting for me
Excellent Sportsmanship, Handshakes and nods at the end.
omg, Poongko showing emotion @ 8:00!?! Even the video couldn't handle it! 0_0
@smashbro5 It's so they land early, and set up a charged fireball for a mixup. Notice what he does afterwards.
5:16 trade reaction was so wow
nice. This has been one of the most enjoyable battles I've watched.
SICK matches.
I'm merely a casual fan, but it's thrilling to see two pros going head to head like that. Makes me want to pick up the game myself, though I don't have the time to devote to get as good as these cats, lol

Awesome matchs. One of the most tension with comebacks that i even saw.
@Valorios
Not to mention her best (only?) extended combos are 1-frame links.
omg the fierce cross up combo in the end did so much damage :p
@momotao118 Seth was never banned from competition. We didn't see him in Japanese tournaments however because the character wasn't available until arcade edition.
this is actually a really great match, im pretty amazed by this
@linkerDA they do it because the second hit is a hard knockdown while if the hit the third time the opponent can get up quick.
just wondering, was 7:55 an option select?
7:59 - Dat Poongko face.
@xjoey77 It was in the console version of Vanilla not the original arcade version.
however in the original final fight rulebook (in japan) under poison it states her as a newhalf, which was (at the time) the Japanese equivalent of transgender. There is so much info stating her as transgender, and if you want more go to MegatonStammer's video about it, it's very informative.

@bahaanaldo that maybe the case 2-3 years ago on vanilla. Sakura was buffed and rose in ranks significantly placing at A-tier at best, B+ at worst.
@TheManowarBabsi
Half the idea of sakura is that she can turn tiny opportunity to do absolutely ridiculous amounts of damage. She has infinitely fewer options than seth (who is very strong, even with so little life) - it's to be expected that she guesses wrong and is "dominated" throughout the round both on wakeup and in terms of footsies, and remains competitive mainly through her massive damage output.
4:15 wouldn't of also worked if poongko ultra'd there instead of fadc again? saves energy.
I appreciate the well toned response, I'm aware as to what he was speaking of, but I do believe it's a bit asinine to speak of one lone person developing the metagame for that character, I know similar situations have occurred in previous game title but regardless to put everything into one sole player I wouldn't say is too accurate.
darn poongko, why did you have to miss some of those combos. Amazing matches
@hotpantsp00p00 sets up better situations for frame traps and resets. I believe its also a hard knockdown, while as three hits they can quick get up.
I think he's talking more about the metagame. People may have played Sakura before in the literal sense, but Uryo put her on the map. This is common in many games - one person figures out the way to play a character or style that will be incredibly successful and thus mimicked by everyone who comes after.
Man I love how they bow to one another after the match, that's class
@BobbyHung yea playing online doesnt count its full of lag and glitches, frame skips input drops IN EVERY online match no matter little or alot
@MrCharizard36 Probably. Still, I think Uryo's combo is more powerful than usual BnB combo. :)
@Gorionward I think it missed due to range or hit stun. If Uryo had blocked the jabs then he probably would have been in range of the SPD. Maybe Poongko wasn't expecting to hit him? Either way
Wow that was one hell of a fight,REALLY didn't expect Uryo to win this.
@keeyk118b I don't think that would be a fair exchange. He'd need a lot of his options taken away before he's given more endurance most likely. His command grabs and dive kicks are definite problems when fighting him. Maybe then? I'm not sure.
@hackstermatrix Moves aren't assigned to character's to "just because", each character has tools for any threat.
You simply can't get these type of matches in SFV...
Coming back to this match after some yearssss G
@MRfrankastank I was the one saying she is fine and SHOULDN'T be nerfed lol. The ''Yea she should be nerfed cause one Sakura is decent :p..'' was sarcastically meant, as they have been judging that from this one battle lol
@smashbro5 if close to the corner, after the 3rd hit, Sakura would end up in the corner. However if only 2 hits are done Sakura ends up outside the corner. So, yes, it is on purpose
There were so many moments I thought Poongko had Uryo, but he just kept coming back. Wow.
@ssmtefl And his character usage. Who would have thought of using Sakura? :D
If you didn't see it, Uryo also eliminated Poongko at Season's Beatings this year. It's kinda weird how Sakura is such a bad match-up for Seth.
crazy match, both players going all out with their offense and risk taking. To think that poonko lose because of a whiffed spd and a psychic ex dp from uryo, incredible.
@mecoboy007 AE added Yun/Yang/Oni/Evil Ryu. Everything else is just balance changes. That's it in a nutshell.
@neon6 game wasn't intentionally unbalanced. That was Ono just using his option select because he fucked up.
@Xtremeism316 whoops, meant crossups, not really resets. But it can lead to them
@Valorios eh, im not going to lie, i play sakura and her links are pretty easy. but honestly, she has absolutely no solid reversals other than ex dp so thats where it gets evened out.
I love seeing a good bit of classic Poongko!
the ex shoryu was an option select.
@izwanhaiqal Looking at that last round in the second match I can't even believe that. Poongko opened Uryo up several times, look how hard he had to work and didn't even take the round. Uryo guessed right twice and took the round.
just wondering.. why did it seem like Uyro was wiffing the third hit on the jump smash on purpose?
@SithLordRagnos Where did that come from?
How does 3rd Strike have a single thing to do with any of my comments?
That missed grab at 7:46 was costly. Did it miss because Sakura has a smaller hit box?
great match, poongko's face after the end was priceless :D
pongkos resets and tricks are unbelievable how does he think and execute them
@Flintc08 They do stop.. they're not that long and if someone like Uryo drops them once in awhile, you can tell how hard they are to pull off.
yea I dont think they should've gave him both the spinning pile driver and yoga teleport, those two are a deadly combo for him
@Valorios I turned away from Seth when I first played because of that fact. I considered that I stank and that I'd die just that much quicker. In a funny twist of irony, he's now my main and I like to think I'm very good with him!
i never seen a spd land on a crouching opponent... i have no idea why he threw that out.
@pj71885 on the 1rst round even with 2 hit poongko went in the corner. i guess that 3rd hit worth it i guess :) and at 3:50 did he messed up or it was for the corner....? and last i dont know what is bad for sakura to have the oppenent in the corner, HP tatsus combo doesnt work there? i really dont get it
Poongko is a very polite player. Always bows after his matches.
SA MASSAKER !!! MASSSSSAKERRRRRRRRRR !!! 07:53 this is the reason why i love japanese commentators!!
Absolutely Godlike!
@bobthetomato True that. How could you not love someone that beasts with Sakura!
@chelseashallfall He might prefer the better anti air capability of ultra 2 in some matchups.
@SithLordRagnos Absolutely. If you exclude Seth, Shin Akuma and Shin Bison there has never been a character in the whole of the street fighter series who wasn't the same level as everyone else.
Great match! Poongko kept ending his strings with SPD, I'm assuming that was a mistake...
@YukiNagato3 didnt j wong almost beat air's main with his dan in the grand finals of a tournement?? ..just saying
wow..i am just blown away seing this fight..these japanese dudes play street fighter games quite well!
@Alucula Except they haven't done well in any recent major tournament =P
Did I miss something or did Uryo risk the entire set on a EX shouoken which he wouldn't have been able to FADC if Poongko has blocked it?
If he blocked it, Poongko could by did a EX SRK, EX tanden engine combo and probably just go for the chip win right afterward. So either that was a OS I didn't see, a good read, or just a coin flip decision by Uryo.

..................seth doesn't have tastumaki senpukyaku, I think you might be referring to Chun-li's Hyakuretskyaku
that was the most technically impressive match ive ever seen
Wow that was incredibly fun to watch.
@blackshilen
Seth has low stamina as well, so her attacks seem extra punishing against him.
Holy crap, I've never seen Sakura this good. Her combo's damage is so high!
It really isnt though. Seth has such low life
@lupinyonsei Yeah.. Instead of chanting "U.S.A." Am I right?
an amazing set. i love both these guys
rare footage of poongko actually showing emotion
@blackshilen Don't you mean Seth's stamina is so low?
The uppercut flew out of the screen and hit Poongko.
two super pros at the top of their games.
@ragonomics yea, but i mean it's seth, people who play him should know that his health is the lowest
My theory is that Uryo switched from Viper at the request of the Arcade owners, since they had to keep replacing the sticks.
dayum I wish I could play sakura that well
@syedamiraslam i think everyone of godsgarden was drinking beer during the tournament lol
@syedamiraslam That was red bull.
