I was a mid-termer 69er, but I actually graduated when Christmas break came on December 22 1968, it was a total blur for me. I left the NWI region in 1972 for Illinois and still reside in Frankfort since 1983, I do like what the NWI region is doing out toward Crown Point and Winfield area, much more progressive than where I live. I remember a few years ago I believe 2021 someone told me that Gavit was being shut down and there wou;d be a walk through, but I did not go.. Thanks for the post.
Class of 08' here. I still remember some of those vinyl signs that were up when I was there. Kind of surreal to see things gone that were new when I was in high school. I used the phones outside of the main office a few times. I also remember the old cafeteria even though the "new" cafeteria was built for my 8th grade year. Wish I could go back to those days. Life was so much simpler and I had basically nothing to worry about.
I will forever have the flex of being on that award picture in the hallway by the office door lol, so sad to see my old high school/middle school close down. I unfortunately didn’t get to finish out my last two years at gavit, but at the same time it felt nice that it was my class that was the last graduating class. Idk it kind of made it a little easier in a way lol, had a lot of great memories there.
Wow I had no idea it was getting closed down this year thanks for posting as I haven't been back to Indiana in ages its so nostalgic to see it all again.
When I went there in the late 1970’s to early 1980,s it didn’t look this nice. The outside of the building looks exactly the same now as back then.I’m sad they removed the G bench that was outside.
Hey thanks for posting. I have not been inside Gavit in a long long time. I moved away from Indiana in 95. My family is still there in Valparaiso now. I am class of 1985. I was a good friend and neighbor to Jason Lax who passed away a while ago. Are you related? I too have a UA-cam channel and just subscribed for you. I love your passion for outdoors films and storm related stuff. That was my passion, landscape photography. Keep up the good work. Hoping we are both on our way to 1000+ subs.
P.S., I do remember selling tickets so we could have the Kingsman play in the theatre and their big hit at the time "Louie Louie, I believe I was an 8th grader then.
I am a Eggers student watching this, and I got To say that Gavit had wider hallways than Eggers. But I will say Eggers has a better main hall/mall. I also hate that we don’t have a auditorium ☹️
saw my old locker; still a few stolen admits slipping beneith the door (somewhat yellowed). saw office where I was introduced to the Board of Education. Rubberized running track inaugurated my last yr. when no swimming pool yet
I haven't seen the inside since 2001, I'm so sad my school is closed down. Thank you for the tour all over again 😢 such great memories
